My Little Soldier

I look around hearing the bang of a gunshot. I run down the hall, but its already too late they found him... my mission. My mission to teach him and train him has ended. Why did they have to bring me him..... Why him!?!?

"JAKE!!!!" I sob wildly knowing how my little soldier is now gone.

**********10 years earlier***********

"Momma? Daddy? Where are you?" A five year old boy yells running playfully down the wooden stairs. His long dirty blonde hair bouncing in his deep blue eyes.

"Hey Jakey, it's okay.... Your momma and daddy just had to leave for a little bit." I lean down telling the frightened boy making sure he doesn't walk into that next room where his parents lay.

"W-who a...are you?" He backs away frightened. "W-where'd my momma go?" He cries turning to run up the stairs. I was afraid he'd react like this but do they ever listen to me... No. I told them to find me an older soldier.

"Hey Jakey, that is what your momma calls you right? Jakey?" I say calmly bending down to get on his level.

"Uh-huh. Dat's what momma calleded me." He exclaims calming down a little and turning to face me.

"Well Jakey, I am your momma's best friend and she asked me to take care of you for a little while while she was gone. Is that okay with you, Jakey?" I say real slowly scooting closer to where we are arms length apart.

"Uh.... If momma said so...." Jake said slowly.

"Okay then, let's go!" I say holding out my hand. He takes my hand as I stand up and pick him up putting him on my hip and walking out the door.

I walk out to my old '99 black mustang and open the passenger door sitting Jake in the front seat and buckling the seat belt. I shut the door and walk to my side hopping into the car and driving to my safe house which is five hours away.

We pull up at 7 o'clock right on time. I park out back and walk around to Jake's side. I pick up the sleeping young boy. A boy who doesn't even know what he is yet. Nor what he is going to become. I smile and he curls in toward my chest facing away from the bright lights as I walk through the Victorian styled door.

"Ravian!!!!!!! Where's my newest recruit?" I hear a deep booming voice scream.

"Calm down Commander. We wouldn't want to wake him." I shush walking up to the well built army man.

"Are you sure this is him Ms. Lullotz?" He asks sharply. His golden eyes peering down at Jake.

"He was at the address you gave me, and his name is Jacob Thomas, sir." I say in a serious tone as I walk over to the down stairs bedroom next to mine.

"What about Mr. and Mrs. Thomas?" He asks as I close the door and walk towards the control room.

"They were taken care of before I got there. The Quiants beat me there, but they hadn't touched the boy."

"Hmmm... Well at least Jacob is okay... For now. You do know the intensity of this mission correct?"

"Sir, yes, sir."

"Stop that Ravian. You don't have to act like I'm above you in rank when the others aren't around." He says leaning over to move my long raven black hair out of my emerald green eyes. He tries to kiss me as I pull away.

"Aiden Walters, stop. You know we can't. It would be very unprofessional and very against the rules.

"Oh come on Ravian! You can't deny how you feel."

"Good night Noble Eagle. You need to call the boys and tell them we have Jacob." I say as he shakes his snow white hair.

"Fine. Good night Black Raven."
