The birth of a child

December 12 (12:46 am)

T-Titan!

Hearing the pained yell of his partner, Titan quickly sat up from his slumber. Glancing over he found her sitting at the foot of the bed, hunched over clutching her stomach tightly. He could see her taking deep breaths, as if she was trying to keep herself calm. She felt the weight of the bed shift, and he was soon at her side. "Dal what's the matter, did you have nightmares again?" He asked, clearly still tired as he rubbed her back. She shook her head, looking at him as tears began streaming down her face. Her cheeks were burning red and face drenched in sweat as she let out another groan, trying to get the words out. "Tar.......T-Tarance." She finally managed to get out, hoping he would get the message. "Wait.....you can't go into labor now! The roads are covered in snow, we can't get to a hospital in time." He said, slightly panicking at this point. Dalia was eight months pregnant with their first little baby boy, meaning she wasn't expected to deliver for about 2 more weeks. Lately they had been getting really bad snowfall, and that caused their neighborhood roads to be temporally blocked off until they could get someone out the move the snow.

"TITAN!!" he snapped out of his thoughts as she called his name once more, Dalia glaring at him with her dark eyes. Her water had  just now broken, staining the sheets and her night gown in the slightly discolored fluid. She could feel the child shifting downwards, paining her as she felt her lower parts contracting. Though neither wanted to, they would have to deliver this child right here, right now. Shifting, she pulled herself onto the bed fully as contractions began hitting her full force once more. Being her firstborn, she was very confused on what to do at this moment. Her mother never really taught her about childbirth, and her sister didn't have any children herself. Just to be able to feel the baby's every movement was enough to make her panic, but somehow she was able to stay calm enough to keep her heartbeat steady. Titan had left the room to get supplies, such as towels warm water and diapers for the newborn. Even from down the hall he could hear her strained noises, knowing that she was already trying to get the child out. "Titan!!" He heard her shout, causing him to rush more and more to get the supplies that was needed for delivery. "J-just hold on, I'll be there in a minute!" He gathered as much as he could before running back into the room. The sheets had begun to become stained red as blood began to flow onto them. It was clear that this child was about to arrive right now, meaning he had little time to get into position.

"I-I can feel him coming out!?" Dalia shouted as she felt her child shipping out, looking at her husband for comfort. By now he had the towel in hand, prepared as she gave her biggest and final push. Before his very eyes, Titan's first child was now lying on the blood soaked sheets as fluids covered his small body. He wanted to cry tears of joy, but somehow something just felt wrong. It then dawned on him, he wasn't crying. Dalia took notice of it as well, sitting herself up and grabbing the child as she wrapped him in a towel. "C-come on Tarance, take a breath for mommy." She said, harshly rubbing the boys back as she tried to get him to start crying. Titan could feel his heart skipping beats as he hopelessly watched, praying the boy was alive. Seconds turned into minutes that felt like hours, yet no cries escaped the boy. However, Dalia just didn't give up. They waited this long to have a child, she wasn't gonna let him go without a fight. She did everything she could, from running water on his face to patting his back. After about 5 minutes, the tension in the air was broken as a baby's quiet cough rang out. "That's it, cry for Mommy Tarance." Dalia said, smiling as she kept patting his back. Titan grabbed a small pocket knife, carefully cutting through the umbilical cord as the child finally started crying. Tears of joy slipped from the new mother's eyes as she hugged the crying child, happy that he was finally crying as a normal child should. "That god my little....." She was suddenly silenced as she took a better look at the boy, seeing that he had an odd silver color in his hair. It reminded her of the ice that hung from the trees outside, their clear her silver color making them seem to shine more. It was very unusual, considering both his parents had normal black hair like everyone down their family tree. Even so, she couldn't help but think of it as a small birth mutation. "My little snow boy." She finally finished, moving some of his hair out his face as his cheeks were tinted red from crying. She could only smile as she began properly cleaning him, turning to see the snow falling slowly outside.

My pretty little snow boy
