If a bird swept down to our tree

Our olive tree -

And snatched a branch away

Would you chase it down

Without that long of delay?

If such a creature stole our song

Carrying it off at will -

I'd instantly be on my feet

Ready to catch or kill.

If lumberjacks came down to our tree

Our olive tree -

And started hacking away.

Would you even try to stop them

Or let our tree wither away.

If such brute people broke our song

Hacking it down with ease -

I'd do anything to stop outsiders

From ever touching our tree.

If I approached our tree

Our olive tree-

With a lighter in my hand

Saying "We could have a much better tree,

Come with me, you'll understand."

If I was the one to burn sacred song

Letting flames lap at the bark

Would you stop me from burning the tree

Or on a new journey would we embark?
