A/N
To My Readers,
I wanted to take a moment to address something that has been on my mind for a while now. It's something that has started to weigh heavily on me, and I feel it’s important to be open about it, especially with those of you who enjoy and follow my stories. This is not just a message to vent my frustrations, but rather an attempt to shed light on the work, effort, and emotional energy that goes into writing each chapter. I truly want you to understand, so please take a moment to read through this carefully.
First, let me start by saying how much I appreciate those of you who have taken the time to read my work. Whether you’ve just discovered my stories or have been following along for a while, your interest in what I create means a lot to me. It’s one of the main reasons I continue writing, even when things get tough. But there’s something that has been bothering me for a while that I feel needs to be addressed: the lack of meaningful feedback and the constant pestering for updates.
Now, don’t get me wrong—requests for updates are perfectly understandable. Everyone gets excited when they find a story they love, and I appreciate the enthusiasm and eagerness to see what happens next. However, it’s become increasingly disheartening when the majority of interaction I receive is centered solely around when the next update will be posted, rather than any constructive feedback, discussion of the plot, or thoughts on character development. It’s as though the readers are expecting constant, immediate gratification without understanding what it takes to produce a quality story.
Writing is not a simple task. It’s not just about putting words on a page. It’s a deeply creative and emotionally taxing process. Each story, each chapter, is the result of hours, sometimes days, of work. It involves not just the technical aspects of writing—grammar, structure, pacing, and continuity—but also the emotional labor that comes with bringing characters to life and creating complex, compelling narratives. Writing requires time to reflect, to edit, and to ensure that every element of the story serves a purpose. It’s a deeply personal process, one that demands not just time, but also an investment of emotion. The characters are not just words on a page to me—they are extensions of my thoughts, my feelings, and my experiences. When you read my stories, you’re engaging with pieces of me that I’ve poured into every sentence.
When you ask me when the next update is coming, I need you to remember that I’m not a machine. I’m a human being with a life outside of writing. I have responsibilities, emotions, and challenges just like anyone else. I don’t sit at a desk all day, churning out words just to satisfy your need for instant gratification. Writing takes time. Crafting a story takes time. And just as importantly, the space I need to gather inspiration, to process my thoughts, and to create meaningful content takes time as well.
The pressure of constant update requests has a negative impact on my creative process. It doesn’t motivate me to write—it discourages me. Writing is an act of passion, but when I’m only met with demands for more without any acknowledgment of the effort involved, it starts to feel like a chore rather than a passion. I start to feel like the work I put in doesn’t matter, that my time and effort are undervalued.
This isn’t an attempt to guilt trip anyone or to make you feel bad for asking for updates. It’s simply an honest reflection of the emotional impact that constant requests have on me as a writer. I want to make it clear that I am not abandoning my stories. I care deeply about each one of them, and I want to give them the time and attention they deserve. But in order to continue writing, I need something more from you, my readers, than just constant requests for updates. I need feedback. I need discussion. I need to know that my work is being valued and that you are engaging with the content in a way that goes beyond just “when is the next chapter?”
A meaningful comment is worth more than a hundred requests for updates. If you truly care about my writing, show it through feedback that goes beyond a simple request for more chapters. Let me know what you like about the story. Discuss the characters, the plot, the themes. Share your thoughts on the direction of the story or how a certain scene made you feel. Ask questions, engage in discussion, or share how the story has impacted you. This is how we build a connection. This is how we create a space where writing and reading are a mutual exchange of ideas and emotions, not just a one-sided demand.
I understand that not everyone has the time to write long, detailed comments, and that’s perfectly fine. But a little effort goes a long way. A simple comment that shows you’re thinking about the story, that you’re invested in the characters and the world I’ve created, means more than you know. It shows me that my work is being read with thoughtfulness and care. It tells me that my effort hasn’t been in vain, and that there’s a real connection between writer and reader.
And for those of you who consistently pester me for updates without offering any feedback or appreciation for the work I’ve already shared, I want you to understand something: it’s not motivating. It’s draining. It makes me feel like my time and energy are being taken for granted, and it takes away from the joy of creating something meaningful. I’m not here to write on a schedule to satisfy your impatience. I’m here to create stories that resonate, that challenge, and that inspire. But for that to happen, I need space and respect.
I’ve reached a point where, unless there’s a shift in the way I’m being engaged with, I’m going to stop writing. I’m not saying this to be dramatic or to punish anyone—but to make it clear that I can’t continue on this path if it feels one-sided. Writing is a passion for me, but it’s also a part of who I am. When my creativity is drained by constant demands without appreciation, the joy of writing fades. And I can’t continue to create something I love if it’s met with nothing but impatience and disregard.
If you want me to continue, if you want to see the next chapter, I need you to show me that you value what I’m doing. Show me that you appreciate the time, effort, and emotion that go into each word. Give me feedback, engage in thoughtful discussion, and share your excitement for the story. This is the kind of relationship I want with my readers—not one where I’m constantly being asked when the next update will be, but one where we can share in the excitement of the story together.
Please remember that writing is an act of love, and it takes more than just a request for more chapters to keep that love alive. I’m still here, and I’m still writing—but I need you to meet me halfway.
Thank you to those of you who have supported me in meaningful ways. Your encouragement, your thoughtful comments, and your engagement with the stories are what keep me going. I just ask that everyone else take a moment to consider the effort involved and show that same level of appreciation.
Until then, I’ll be focusing on the stories that matter most to me, and I’ll be waiting for those of you who truly understand the process to join me in that journey.
Sincerely,
Martin
