So I know most of you have lives to live, but to those who keep up with 40K lore, you already know what I’m talking about. The recent “addition” of female Custodes. For those who don’t know, or those that do and enjoy 40K lore, the Custodes are the Space Marines if they got put on steroids. A Custode to a Space Marine is what a Space Marine is to a normal man, an absolute BEAST on the battlefield and something so modified they don’t see themselves as human. In the lore about Custodes being created, it explicitly stated that potential recruits are picked from the thousands of noble sons donated to the Imperial Palace.

Warhammer 40K is not short of female as some people make it out to be. We got the Adepta Sororitas, Sisters of Silence, Callidus Assassins, Commander Shadowsun, Yvraine, Lelith, Living Saints (There was like only ONE guy ever mentioned but it counts), Howling Banshees and their Phoenix Lord, Wych Cults and Succubi, and a bunch of other female characters I know I’m forgetting. Not gonna include Slaanesh because that’s an It and I stand by it.

The problem isn’t the fact that the fandom is full of incels who want to keep their strong male fantasy alive, it’s how GW just dropped they’ve always existed without any explanation. Now if they said that we don’t see female Custodes because of something like they’re badass starship captains that were exploring and ridding areas of Chaos, then that would’ve been fine. Basically I’m saying it got a lot of backlash because they just put it like this:

“Since the first of the Ten Thousand were created, there have always been female Custodians.”

That’s like saying there are female Orks and always have been. People aren’t mad that there are female Custodes. I mean, who wouldn’t want a tall muscle mommy? They’re mad about how it was handled is all. No one wants their hobby ruined because a bunch of people that don’t even play the game or read the lore as to why something specific is done complained, and the makers gave into the pressure. I mean I’ve seen Twitter/X posts of people saying once they take out all the grimdark and war they’d consider playing the game. It’s called WARhammer for a reason….well two reasons, but my point still stands.

Go troll people that complain about it if you want, I’m not telling you to. Just saying it’ll be funny because they all have the same go to about you hating women or some shit. Anyways let me know your thoughts on this and thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.
