*AN/at the end*

11:59 July 30th Harry sits on the thin mattress and watched the seconds tick down till his 15th birthday. This birthday he believed would be just like all the others, ignored and treated like dirt. Only ten seconds left until he's fifteen.

5,4,3,2,1

Harry is hit with unbearable pain as soon as the clock hits 12. Harry holds in the screams that threaten to fill the house. The clock on this wall strikes 12:01 and all pain in Harry's body leaves as quickly as it came. Panting Harry gets up off the floor and collapses onto the 'bed'.

Harry's Pov.

I knew that some wizards and witches go thru a creature inheritance when they turned fifteen but I never imagined that I would get one. last year we learned about the types of creatures that some people inherited. The most common was to be part veela seeing as they tended to have many children with their mate.

"no I'm not a veela, they have wings" Just to check lets look. looking over my shoulder I saw no wings but there was something there and it mover as my curiosity spiked. "Just what am I?" getting up off the bed I silently walked into the bathroom. turning on the light I realised three things.

One: I have two large midnight black cat ears sticking up out of my shaggy, equally midnight black, hair.  Aswell as a long black tail. at the tip of all my new appendages, the fur was platinum blond.

Two: My glasses fell off and I can still see perfectly fine. My emerald green eyes piercing through the black matted mess that is my bangs. 

Three: My canine teeth are longer and at a sharp point. looking at them now it looks like they are definitely sharp enough to draw blood easy.

now to figure out what in Merlin's name I am. with cat-like stealth, I slink back to my room and grab my care of magical creatures book from the loose floorboard under the bed. Quickly I tear through the book until I get to the part of different creature inheritance. Alright, now the book is classified by characteristics. So let's find ears and tail of a cat. Alright, it says that wizards that receive these particular traits along with others signify the inheritance of a Neko. The Neko is very rare and powerful. Due to this many wizards fear them and will avoid them at all cost. Interestingly the Neko can hide all of its cat-like features except for when around their mate. That was all the book had on the subject so I decided to try out hiding the ears and tail. Silently I ran back into the bathroom and locked the door. Looking in the mirror I took a minute to admire how the ears blatantly showed my emotions. Curious I moved my hair away to see if I still had human ears only to find them gone. Quickly I close my eyes and wish for human ears and no tail. Concisely I open my eyes and see two human ears on the sides of my head. After seeing can hide them I bring them back and run back to my room and fall into a deep sleep.

Malfoy Manor

3 months before

Draco's Pov.

I awake on my birthday to something soft tickling my nose. I sit up with my eyes still closed in a wish for sleep and try to smack away whoever it was that woke me and find no one. Opening my eyes I find the room empty. Quickly I jump up and check the connected bathroom too see if whoever it was going in there. A quick look in their tells me it is also empty but something does catch my eye as I'm leaving the room. I slowly back up and peer into the mirror.

3rd person pov.

Draco finds a very similar change in his appearance. Except the young Malfoy has the reverse fur colours in his ears and tail. Both have platinum blond fur except on the tips. Those are both a midnight black. Draco returns to his room and also looks at his care of magical creatures book. Reading the same information as one Harry Potter he also decides to hide his ears and tail.

Back to Harry

I awaken at 6 and get dressed quickly and silently. Leaving the safety of my room I climb down to the kitchen to make a feast for the Dursleys 'light breakfast'. Three plates of bacon eggs and toast are placed on the table for them. I place a small heating charm on all the food using my wand that I keep hidden in the waistband of my pants. After all of that, I grab a slice of toast and cover it with the extra eggs that didn't fit on the plates and grab a slice of bacon. With my breakfast, I run back up to my room to eat. I lock my door once again using my wand and slowly eat my breakfast. The Dursleys wake up just as I finish my breakfast and I sigh letting out my ears and tail. They haven't been speaking to me all summer and I'm ok with that.

*time skip to September 1*

After making the Dursleys breakfast as I have done all summer I return to my room I slip a large black hoodie over my black t-shirt. I lip my iPod into the pocket of my black skinny jeans along with my earbuds. I place all my books in my trunk and send Hedwig off to Hogwarts. After I shrink down her cage and my trunk to put in the hoodie's pocket next to my wand. After, I quickly run down the stairs and exit the house all before 7.

Entering Kings cross I slowly make my way over to platforms 9 and 10. With a quick glance around I walk onto platform 9 3/4. Seeing as there was still 4 hours till the train leaves the platform is empty. I breathe a sigh of relief, ever since my birthday I haven't been able to stand to be around more than one or two people at a time if I could avoid it. I climb onto the train and find a compartment at the very back. I place my stuff on the rack them enlarge it. I take a seat at the window and place my earbuds in and hit play on my blasting music. Laying back in the seat I pull my hood on and sit in the fetal position falling asleep.

Draco's pov.

My hate for large crowds has increased and so to avoid the crowd of the Hogwarts platform I asked the family house-elf, Tizzy to take me to the Platform at 8. Once we are there I send Tizzy back home and go find a compartment. For some strange reason, that I choose to ignore, I am pulled to the back of the train. The last compartment on the train already has someone in it so I take the second to last compartment. After putting all my stuff on the rack I settled down next to the window and I sit in the fetal position. Just as I'm getting comfortable my ears and tail decide to try and come out. This has never happened before and so I do not know how to stop it. My ears and tail end up winning over my will to have them hidden. Seeing as I am alone it cannot be my mate which is the only reason the book said that they would come out. It is at this time that I remember a stranger sitting in the last compartment seeming to be asleep.

Curious I stand up and go and check on them. What I find in the compartment behind mine startles me. It would seem that I have found my mate. The person in the compartment is still asleep but two large cat ears and a tail have appeared. The ears and tail are exact opposites of mine. My tail flicks in sync to theirs and is a bit freaky. Not wanting to be found with my ears and tail out I leave the last compartment. Once outside I place a concealment charm on it making it look full from the outside. Returning to my own compartment I do the same. Once I am sure no one can come in or find me I attempt to bring the natural concealment charm back so that I am not a walking freak show. But no such luck. Not wanting to be looked at strangely I place a glamour on myself too hid the extra features. Deciding that I should help the other Neko that also appears to be my mate, I pull down my trunk and drop the concealment charm on the compartment. Silently so I don't wake my mate up I enter the compartment. Once more I settle into the seat. Once I start hearing other people outside of the train, a thought dawns on me. When my mate wakes up most likely they will be afraid that they are not alone and that someone saw their tail. So I decided to drop the glamour on myself. I was fully comfortable with this seeing as the concealment charm is still in the compartment. But as an extra precaution, I also locked the door from the outside in. That way we could leave as we pleased but no one could enter. About an hour after the train left the station the figure all dressed in black stirred. They let out a small yawn and stretched. Once they had done that I finally got a good look at my mate's face and was overjoyed. I had had a crush on the famous Harry Potter since 2nd year.

Harry's pov

At noon my internal clock went off and I woke up from my nap. I stretched and yawned to wake myself up. Expecting to be alone in the compartment the presence of Draco Malfoy was a complete shock. To make matters worse my cat as I like to call it was showing. Looking him over closely to see his reaction I see that he is also a Neko. Looking at him he looks much better with ears it just completes the cute innocent look. The expression on his face concerns me slightly, he looks happy, and that never happens around me(sadly). "Draco are yo-" I try to ask if he is alright when he leaps at me. The cat reflexes are obvious. He lands on my lap and straddles me. For some odd reason, I don't feel the need to push him off. In fact quite the opposite, I want to pull him closer, I want to close the gap between us(that gap is only like 3 inches). I want to run my fingers through that platinum blond hair, I want to feel his soft lips on mine. I don't know who it was that closed the gap but next thing I knew his lips were on mine. Softer and sweeter than I ever could have imagined. I wrap my arms around his neck while he wraps his around my waist. Our mouths battle for dominance and he finally submits and allows me entrance. Our tongues in complete sync searching every corner and crevice of the others in an intricate dance. After a minute or two of this, the need for air was greater than the need for each other. I pulled away panting. Our foreheads touching. I never wanted him to leave my grasp. He was mine and I was his. "Not that I complaining at all but what the bloody hell was that" I breathe out still catching my breath. "That" he replies smirking that way he knows I hate, "my love was long overdue." I just chuckle in reply. "I guess I don't have to worry about my mate rejecting me anymore, huh" I whisper into his ear. At this, his whole body goes rigid and his tail, well let's just say his tail was all I needed to see to know how to get a reaction. Once more I chuckle at him and I gently lift my hand, running it up his gorgeous neck and up through his hair. Stopping at his ear I stroke it softly. "I'm sorry love but you did start this" I whisper in his ear again. At this, he seems to realize that he was on my lap and jumped off. "Hmm, I liked you just where you were" I pout at him. He glares back at me still standing. Standing myself I drop my ears and tail still pouting. "Well, you can't have all of me at once now can you?" He questions. "True but you could have stayed on my lap" I retort. Now it's his turn to chuckle at me. "Do you know which of us is the dom and which is the sub, dray?" I ask settling back down and pulling him onto my lap because he doesn't get a choice. "Wait don't answer that I just figured it out," I say as he leans into me. We stay like this for a few hours till the sky starts to darken. It is at this time that Draco sits bolt upright and asks "What are we going to do? We can't go into the great hall like this." He exclaims gesturing to the ears and tail that adorn us both." and then there's the fact that the bonded Neko can't go more than about 3 hours without its mate in the same room. This is going to be hell." I stand and grab my worrying submissive by the shoulders and envelope him in a hug. "Hey, we're going to get through this, ok?" I ask him leaning back slightly so that I'm looking into these perfect stormy grey eyes of his. He simply looks up into my eyes the worry and fear in them is evident. "We can put up a glamour for the ears and tails, and as for the being near each other I guess I'm just gonna have to use my 'golden boy' powers and get sorted into my proper house don't you think?" I tilt my head a little too the side and give him a smirk. He gives me a confused look. "I was supposed to be in Slytherin but you were being a pompous git so I chose Gryffindor."

He looks shocked at what I told him. "That is such a Slytherin thing to do." He tells me leaning into the hug. "That just proves my point that I need to be resorted." With that said we both get dressed in robes before placing the glamorous and basking in each other's embrace. 20 minutes later we are pulling into Hogsmeade station. We had decided that until after the resorting we can't be seen together. Dray left first to find his friends and tell the loyal ones about what happened. Then I left to go find the twins and luna. They would be together and are the only people I trust with this information. Ron is a jealous git and hemione is loyal only to books.
