Blaire's POV

I sit bolt upright. Something's wrong, something's very wrong. I can feel it.

"Darren!" I yell, realizing he isn't next to me, and it's a moment before he's there.

"What's wrong?" He asks, he sounds tense and anxious and angry.

"Something bad happened." I whisper.

Darren nods. "Something did." He says softly. "Get dressed, hurry."

I do so, pulling on the first pieces of clothing I can grab. My mind races, what happened? Why do I feel like I lost something? Why does Darren look so sad? What's going on?

I slip my shoes on and run downstairs where Darren is waiting. He takes my hand and we walk out together. We go to the pack doctors, though I don't understand why. Did something happen to Claire!? Or Calder?

We walk in and there's already quite a lot of people here. They're gathered in the waiting room, some in their pajamas, others in robes, some fully dressed. But they all look sad.

"Darren? What's going on." I whisper as we walk past the people. We stop in front of a door to one of the rooms.

"Blaire, whatever you see in there, don't think it's your fault. It's not." Darren says slowly.

"My fault? What's going on Darren!" I exclaim, my heart starting to race as my mind tries to come up with ideas but comes up blank. All I know is something bad is behind that door. I can hear crying behind that door. I can smell blood behind that door. I'm scared of what's behind that door.

Darren opens it and I walk in very slowly.

On the bed, Lyn lies. The girl I beat up earlier. She must've been here because of what I did... Her stomach is ripped open, her insides spilling everywhere. I turn around, not able to look at the scene anymore, my stomach feels funny. On the wall in blood, Lyn's blood, there's big capital letters of 'TIC TOCK.'

Two people, a man and a woman who look older, are holding each other. Looking at Lyn. The woman looks over at me and Darren.

"I know she wasn't the nicest girl," she whispers. "But my baby never deserved this..." She looks back at Lyn. "She never deserved this."

Darren takes me home after I throw up. The smell and just the sight made me sick. We sit together in bed as I cry into his shoulder.

He rubs my back gently. "It's okay baby." He says softly. "It's okay."

"She wouldn't of even been in there if it wasn't for me!" I exclaim, half hysterical.

"It's not your fault angel, someone else would have died if Lyn didn't." Darren whispers, sounding pained. "Someone in our pack is working with the rogues who hurt you. The rogues would never be able to of gotten into her room without being at least noticed."

"They're after me! I'm the reason they're killing people!" I scream. "I'm the reason someone died."

"Blaire, please. Stop crying." Darren whispers. "Please." He rests his forehead against mine, closing his eyes and I watch as a single tear runs down his cheek.

Darren is crying... Because I'm crying? He can feel what I feel through the bond... And he can read my mind because my wall isn't up. Oh, gosh, Darren. I'm sorry.

"Blaire, baby, it's okay. But I don't like how you're beating yourself up." Darren says. "You have to stop beating yourself up." He lays back, holding me tightly.

I do my best to stop crying, I have to be strong for Darren. He's hurting because of me. I made him cry. I clutch his shirt, my head on his chest. The way he holds me is comforting... Just focus on that.

Slowly, the tears subside and I can relax. Darren whispers comforting things and soon, sleep takes over.

The next morning is dreadful. Darren goes to work earlier than normal, leaving me alone with Luke and my new guard. His name is Zale or something. He smells so weird.

He doesn't talk much, but today, neither do I. Luke tries cheering me up, we play boggle, he reads happy books to me. He does his best and I know he does.

"Luke, it's just a sad day." I say finally after we've had lunch.

"Okay... Okay, it's a sad day. So, how about some sad movies?" Luke suggests.

"What kind of movies are sad movies?" I scrunch up my nose.

"How about we watch The Fault In Our Stars." Luke says. "Might want to get a Kleenex box."

"Okay..." I grab one and we go to the couch. We watch this movie and it is indeed a very sad movie. I cry, a lot. Luke rubs my back and helps me feel better. Promising that's it's just a movie and not real life.

But I don't care. It's a sad day. The movie fits in perfectly. It's a sad time.

***

"What are you doing little one?" Darren frowns as he watches me.

"Lilian's moon necklace!" I say frustratedly as I look around.

"Oh, it's okay. It's already returned." Darren says, walking over. "And I have something for you."

It's been a few days since Lyn died. I had my wall up to Darren almost all the time because I'm scared he'll look into my mind at a bad time. He can still feel my emotions though, which is kinda weird.

"Whatcha have?" I tilt my head.

"This." Darren holds up a necklace, another 'banana' moon necklace. It's on a small silver coloured chain and the moon has pretty swirls in it.

I smile widely and walk over. "Put it on! Please!"

He puts it around my neck, clipping it together then pulling my hair over it. I go to a mirror and look at it, it's beautiful. I love it!

"Thank you Darren." I turn, hugging him tightly.

"You're welcome beautiful." Darren says, hugging back.

"What are we doing today?"

"Well, I was thinking I could take the afternoon off and we could go for a picnic?" Darren suggests.

"Yes please!" I gasp.

I've never been to a picnic! I wonder what it's like... I hope fun. The fall is slowly coming upon us, it's starting to get colder. But I hope it's warm enough to still swim! I hope we go somewhere where I can swim! I enjoy it, especially because it's an excuse for Darren to have to stay with me.

"You wait downstairs, I'm going to pack everything." Darren says, giving me a little push.

"Fine." I huff, walking downstairs and sitting in the living room. I play with my hands as I wait, looking out the window.

Darren comes downstairs and he comes into the living room with two bags. "Come on, let's go."

We walk out and into the forest. I let Darren lead since he knows where we're going. We end up in a really pretty clearing. Tall purple flowers starting to wilt all around.

Darren lays a big blanket down and takes out the food. There's sandwiches and juice and a big assortment of fruit! Yum.

I sit on the blanket and start eating the fruit. "So... Why'd you want to do a picnic today?"

"It's supposed to be the last really warm day of the year." Darren replies, biting into a sandwich. "And I wanted to make the most of it."

"Ew," I giggle. "Don't talk with food in your mouth."

Darren swallows. "I'm the alpha, I do what I want." He winks.

"Unless I don't want you to do it." I put my hands on my hips.

Darren laughs. "Of course, unless you don't want me to do it." He leans over and pecks my lips.

I smile and continue to eat. "How are Lyn's parents?" I ask quietly.

"They're... Okay. Grieving, but okay." Darren replies. "They want revenge."

"As do I." I mumble.

"How about we talk about something else?" Darren says quickly.

"Like what?"

"Like... How does another shopping trip sound? Just you and me." Darren smiles. "No Lilian this time."

"I'd like that." I nod.

"What would you get?"

"Mm... More leggings! And some skirts and shorts. And some pretty tops. And lots of sparkly things!"

Darren smiles and pulls me onto his lap. "Tell me some of your favourite sparkly things."

I list them off as I eat. Then we talk. Sharing ideas and stories and how our days are when he's at work and I'm at home. I explain to him that I want to do something during the day too. And, I don't like my new guard. He smells funny. Darren explains its just the cologne he wears. Whatever cologne is.

The sun starts to set and I help Darren pack all our stuff up. Sadly, there was no swimming, but I still had a very good time. Darren says dinner will be ready once we get home.

I hold his hand while we walk back, explaining in great detail a dress I thought of. I stumble over roots as we walk, but Darren's hand keeps me steady.

"You should draw the dress for me... Please?" Darren decides.

"Okay... At home!" I say excitedly. "I'll draw it for you!"

Darren nods and soon we're back at the house. We eat the dinner that had been made for us before Darren gives me paper and a pencil. I go to our room and start drawing, listening to his thoughts as I do.

He thinks of the rogues, he's very worried about them hurting me. I sigh a little as I draw, I don't like that he's so... Stressed. It's frustrating because I want him to be happy. I want to make him happy...

I walk into Darren's office quietly and he looks up. "Yes baby?"

"I want to complete the mating process." I say quickly.

Darren's eyes go wide for a moment before he walks over. "Blaire," he sighs, placing a hand on my cheek. "You aren't ready."

"I am. I'm ready." I nod.

"What if I'm not ready?" Darren asks slowly.

"I know you're ready." I reply.

"Why do you suddenly want to do this Blaire?"

"Because I want you to be happy." I whisper, looking up at him. "You're stressed, you're always tense and worried... I want you to relax."

"Blaire," Darren say softly, picking me up so I'm eye level. "You don't have to do anything but be you for me to be happy. You don't have to dress up fancy, or have sex, or act different. You make me happy as it is."

"Then relax Darren." I frown.

He looks me over. "How about I read to you and you can take a nice bath?"

"Will you join me?"

"Yes."

"And will you relax?"

"I will."

I smile. "Okay."

He runs a bath and I climb in. He grabs a book and as I lean against his chest, he starts to read.

"We only have a few hours, so listen carefully. If you're hearing this story, you're already in danger. Sadie and I might be your only chance..."
