Darren's POV
I watch as Blaire stretches out, slowly opening her eyes. She pushes herself up and out of bed.
"Where are you going?" I whine from the bed.
She sticks her tongue out at me and walks into the bathroom. I watch before tuning into her mind. Her mind was full of things, always curious and always wanting to know more. I didn't mean to, but the rest of the day yesterday, I took advantage of the mark and was always in her mind. It gave her no privacy but she didn't particularly realize.
I close my eyes, listening to her thoughts as she looks at herself in the bathroom mirror. She judges how she looks, how her hair is messy from sleep and how her arms still look too small. Calder had talked to her about that, gaining weight to be healthier.
Then she thinks about her mark. I smile proudly as she thinks about how she loved the moment of being marked, replaying it in her head. I pull out of her mind, not wanting to take advantage of her today. She didn't know how to block me out, and I don't want to teach her, but I will have to at one point.
I watch as she walks out. "Do... you have alpha duties?"
"Yes." I reply.
"Can I come?" Blaire sits on the edge of the bed.
"If you'd like," I slowly. "But you'll get bored."
"I want to come." Blaire says sternly as she pulls out clothes for herself with some troubles. She puts them on and then leaves the room.
I sigh and go have a quick shower. The hot water feels good on my skin and absently, even though I told myself I wouldn't, I slip into Blaire's mind again.
She's focused on making breakfast, although, she's not doing a very good job at it. She has to hop up onto the counter to get the bowls. I take note to move them to a lower shelf.
I step out and shake my head. Stay out of Blaire's head. I dry my hair with a towel and find myself clothes before heading downstairs. Blaire is eating her favourited Fruit Loops while playing around on my phone. I left it out for her because she enjoyed one of the games and played when she was bored or wanted to take her mind off something.
Music blares from a Bluetooth speaker in the house and Blaire jumps, throwing the phone and almost falling off her seat. I bite my lip to keep myself from laughing and her gaze swivels to me. Her eyes wide in surprise and her body still tense.
"It's just music baby." I chuckle. "Now keep eating." I go kiss her forehead.
Going to pick up the phone, I glance back at her. She went back to eating, her hair falling forward as she leans over the table.
"I like this..." She struggles for the word.
"Song." I fill in. She nods and finishes her cereal, putting the bowl in the sink. I watch as she starts bouncing to the beat. "Have I got myself a little dancer?"
"I don't know what that means." Blaire replies.
"Come here." I motion. Blaire walks over and I guide her one arm to where it would go if we were ballroom dancing. I place one arm around her waist and I take her other hand. Swiftly I start spinning us.
Though the song is fast and not meant for such a dance, we dance along to its beat. Blaire catches on quickly, looking at our feet first until her gaze trails to mine.
"What's this?" She whispers.
"Dancing." I spin her and dip her little body low before picking her back up.
"I like it."
When the song ends, Blaire stands on her tip toes, pecking my lips. After a moment her cheeks go red. I involuntarily chuckle.
"Cmon, I have alpha duties." I say softly, pulling her with me to go to my office at the pack house.
I walk alongside her, holding her hand. I catch myself before I slip into her mind again. Biting my lip, we walk into the pack house.
Blaire hadn't met many people yet. She only saw people at her acceptance trials. Her head snaps to the noise as a bunch of kids run past us. Her gaze grows curious as she watches them run to another room.
"My office is on the top floor." I start my way up and she follows quietly.
She hadn't been here yet, so I understand her curiosity. We come up to my office and Blaire looks around. I sit in my chair, watching her.
'Alpha, we have a she-wolf coming in from Jace's territory... She's short and blonde, blue eyes, wearing all black.'
'That's their Luna, Darcy. Let her be.' I reply. Huh, why didn't see just shift? "You have a visitor who will be here soon." I tell Blaire.
"Who?" Blaire asks excitedly.
"Darcy."
Blaire's smile brightens the room. Darcy and Lilian were the two people Blaire had connected with perfectly. And although Darcy wasn't the best influence, there is no way I could hurt Blaire by splitting her and Darcy up.
"You know, your beta sheds like a dog." Darcy says walking in, her black leggings full of tan coloured wolf hair.
"We are kind of dogs..." Blaire says slowly.
Darcy sticks her tongue out at Blaire before hugging her.
"Why did you... Ride him?" Blaire asks, tilting her head.
"Cause I didn't shift." Darcy replies in a duh tone. "Any way, mister alpha Darren sir, I'm taking Blaire back to your house and exposing her to nasty music and maybe some superhero movies that are really dark and gruesome. Bye!"
She pulls Blaire out of the room, Blaire laughing a little. I sigh, there goes my time with Blaire.
'Luke? Can you watch over Blaire and Darcy please? Make sure Darcy doesn't show her anything too crazy.' I link him.
I bite my lip. Darcy if you show my little Blaire something to scar her there will be some problems...

Blaire's POV
Darcy had music playing as soon as we got to the house. She loved it. Her blonde curls bounce as she bobs her head to the beat.
"Sing." I demand.
"Oh, I don't sing. You, you can sing. I don't sing."
"Sing." I say again.
Darcy is quiet for a moment. "Who else is in the house?"
I sniff the air. "Just Luke."
"Luke...?"
"My guard."
Darcy sighs. "I guess I'll sing for you. Only you though! Consider yourself hella lucky."
"Okay." I smile, though waiting impatiently.
She plays a different style of song, it sounds much different from the ones she usually plays. "This song was um, it was my brothers favourite." She whispers.
I didn't know she had a brother. A man starts singing and it's not long before Darcy joins in. Her voice makes my mouth hang open as I listen. It's beautiful and very... Powerful. I think that's the word.
As she sings, Darren and Jace come to the door. But Darcy doesn't realize, she keeps singing in her lovely voice. The song ends and she smiles a little at me.
"Yeah," she rubs the back of her neck. "I'm not a singer."
I frown in confusion. She clearly loved what she just did, and she sounded very good.
"Darcy?" Jace asks quietly. She jumps and whips her head around. Her stance and her face go defensive and she lets out a growl.
"Get your ass away from me." Darcy snaps. "I'm sorry for my French Blaire, please cover your ears." Darcy adds, looking over at me with a playful smile.
"I don't know what that means." What does she mean by French?
"Darcy, look, I-" Jace starts.
"I don't fucking care what you have to say you son of a bitch. Get your doggy ass away from me I don't wanna talk." Darcy snaps.
"Darcy," I whisper. "That's mean."
"Mean, you wanna know what he did to me?" Did he hit her!? "He went up to some random pack slut and decided to make out with her. Just when I thought I could trust him." Darcy shakes her head.
I don't really know what a lot of that means, but it's very upsetting to Darcy. I take Darcy's hand and lead her over to the couch, sitting her down before walking back over to Jace.
"Why did you hurt Darcy?" I frown up at his emotionless face.
Darren quickly takes my hand. "Let's give Darcy some alone time, okay Blaire?" He says, before adding sternly. "Jace."
We walk downstairs and I sit on the couch. "Why did you hurt Darcy?" I repeat. "I thought... Mates don't hurt each other."
"I don't know if you'd understand Blaire." Jace grunts.
"Well I'd like to know this story as well." Darren says, crossing his arms on his chest. He looks pretty angry.
"Look, Darcy and I were fighting so I went to the pack house. One of the girls who I used to be with..." Jace pauses. "She came up and kissed me. Admittedly I didn't push her away. But it felt wrong, and I regret it so much. I didn't realize Darcy was there either, the look on her face..." Jace sighs and he looks mad and frustrated. Finally something is on his face.
"Did you say sorry?" I ask, tilting my head.
"I didn't have a chance to yet. I want-" Jace starts but I interrupt him with a gasp, clutching my stomach.
"Blaire? Baby, what's wrong?" Darren asks frantically. There's this pain in my stomach, slowly it seems to go to my chest. And then it's like it reaches my heart and this fire explodes throughout my body.
I scream in pain, it hurts so much. Oh my gosh it hurts. Stop the pain please.
Darcy is down in seconds. "You MARKED HER!?" Darcy exclaims angrily.
"She's in heat..." Jace says slowly in surprise and then I block their words out. The pain is too much! Everything is burning. Everything is on fire.
I can feel Darren pick me up and take me upstairs. I hear bath water start to run as my clothes are practically ripped off. After minutes which seem like hours of agony, I'm put in cold water. It doesn't do much to soothe me, but it helps a little.
The fire rages inside and all I want is Darren. He's whispering sweet things in my ear and his hands hold mine the entire time until I can't take the pain anymore and my world slowly slips away.
***
I slowly open my eyes. Darren is holding me right up close to him and I'm in a bath robe. We're in his office at our house, and he's writing on something.
"Darren...?" I ask slowly.
"Hey baby." Darren says softly, rubbing my back. "How do you feel?"
"Better." I whisper. The burning sensation was gone now.
"I'm sorry I didn't warn you angel. Tonight is the full moon, all marked she-wolves who haven't completed the mating process go into heat today or tonight." Darren explains, running a hand through my hair.
"Complete it?" He never explained how to complete it.
"Making love, remember?" Darren sighs.
"So... Why can't we complete it?" I ask in confusion.
Darren groans. "You know what, Darcy is still here. You should hang out with her before she has to go. Let me finish some work here."
"Is your work... About the rogues?" I tilt my head.
Darren looks over me. "I'll tell you later." He says and I know he's lying. He won't tell me. I sigh and stand up, wobbling a little. Darren steadies me. "Go get dressed, Darcy is downstairs."
I walk to our room and look at the time. It's really late, the clock reads in its red numbers, ten with two dots and then a thirty two. Outside it's turning dark. Why was I not just in bed? Why did Darren keep me with him? I don't understand...
I sigh and walk downstairs after pulling on leggings and a big shirt. Darcy isn't here.... I take in her scent and follow it to more stairs going down. Huh, I hadn't been here yet. I walk down quietly, reaching the bottom I look around.
It's a big open room, work out equipment all around. Darcy is attacking a poor bag that's been shredded. Her hands have wolf claws and her canines are long and sharp. Ears and a tail were on her like she was stuck half shifted half not. Her eyes are black and they snap to mine.
I start scrambling back up the stairs but Darcy's normal hands wrap around me and pull me back.
"It's okay. I'm me. Look, I'm me." Darcy says, turning me around. She shows me her hands and her teeth. I pant slightly in my fear, she was just... She was like a monster. "It's okay Blaire. Well... Maybe the punching bag isn't."
"You were just..." I gasp.
"I know. Stuck. That's as much as I can shift, well without..." Darcy trails off and shakes her head. "Anyway, how are you feeling?"
"Good. Better." I offer a smile, even though I'm still scared. "Why were you mad...? That he marked me?"
"Because you don't know what it means." Darcy growls. "And it was against your will, he told me while we put you in the bath robe. I made him tell me everything. He hasn't even explained the mating process to you! Blaire you aren't ready for this!"
"What is the mating process?" I sigh frustratedly. Apparently everyone knew, everyone but me.
"Well, you got the most of it. You're just missing a piece. It starts with meeting of course, then marking and then you do the dirty." Darcy smirks.
"What is the last piece?" I sit down, no longer scared. Well, I am, but it's set aside because curiosity takes over.
"Sex, making love, banging, whatever the hell you call it." Darcy snorts.
I give her a look. "I don't know what that means."
"Right, you were 7... Okay darling. Sex ed with Darcy, you're gonna hate me after this."
