Society

Society can sometimes be so, so cruel. They judge you, give you labels, reputations, standards, and tags. Schools judge how much each student is worth, parents give you standards to live up to or else you're a disappointment, friends give you reputations to uphold, and everyone plays a part somehow in giving you a place. Thanks to high school and middle school movies and books, cliques of people have formed in which they are labeled as; nerds, jocks, preps, emos, etc. Now in high school, people are being labeled as those depending on what they wear, how they act, who they hang out with, what classes they have, and how people talk about them. These titles will never end, even in death they won't. Then, name calling starts such as demon, pervert, dumb, queer, special, creepy, and painfully so many others. You have to like what they like or they'll turn against you, you have to act how they act or they'll turn against you, you have to walk how they walk or they'll turn against you. It's just how people are. For people with depression, they are often looked at as attention seekers if they ask for help or it is somehow revealed they have depression. They're just shrugged right off without a second thought. This leads to even more name calling or being made fun of just because your feelings are shown. Not to mention, these things society does to us can just deepen depression for other people. We can't be ourselves in this world thanks to society.
