Barnaby's POV

A new year, same old story I suppose. Well only difference is this year I'll be a parent with the old man. I feel my face heat up whenever I think about it. Over Christmas Kotetsu took my to my parents grave, we took flowers and made it nice. I talked to them about my worries and fears and how I wished they could be here with their grandchild. Kotetsu promised that he would look out for me and protect both me and the child with all his heart.

We had a quiet morning together before an excitable Kaede woke up wanting her presents. It was my first Christmas as a family for many years and it felt perfect.

"Bunny," I heard Kotetsu call from the bathroom. "Have seen my toothbrush?"

I smiled to myself. I finally feel at home here. I walked into the bathroom to see Kotetsu struggling to find his toothbrush. Sighing I leaned over to the cup on the corner of tub picking up the familiar green brush. "You brushes your teeth in the bath last night," I sighed handing it over.

"Oh yeah, he grinned. After he finished brushing his teeth he wiped his mouth then knelt down to my stomach. I couldn't help but blush. "Hello my little baby Bunny."

"K-Kotetsu?" I stuttered feeling slightly embarrassed as he caressed my stomach. "Stop it."

"We get to see you today," Kotetsu beamed. "You want to say hello to mama and papa don't you?"

"Mama?" I whined. "Who says I'm mama?"

Kotetsu stood back up kissing my forehead. "Mama Bunny has a nice ring to it," he laughed.

I simply growled and playful slapped Kotetsu. Today we were going for the first scan and Kotetsu being excited is an understatement. "You should get going for your meeting," I advised. "Call me when you're on your way to the hospital."

"I will," Kotetsu kissed me deeply. I love this mans lips. "I'll be there so early you'll think it was for a different time."

I laughed as he ran down the stairs, hearing the door shut I let out a sigh of relief. He's been good on his promises lately, which I'm really impressed with. He's really becoming more of an adult again, suppose being a parent for the second time will do that for you.

I arrived at the hospital at around 12:45, 15 minutes before my appointment. I still haven't heard off Kotetsu yet, I wonder why he could be? It's possible that he's caught up in all his paperwork or writing apology letters. I booked myself in the reception before I was guided to a private waiting area. Come on Kotetsu, call me already. I looked down at my phone scrolling through the news. I saw an article where one of the main roads leading up to the hospital had been blocked off. Instinctively I quickly rummaged thorough my contacts to get hold of Kotetsu. I heard the beep tone for a few seconds before he picked up. "Bunny I'm so sorry!"

"Kotetsu calm down," I laughed at his frantic ness. "Where are you?"

"Lloyd's had me doing some paperwork which apparently I missed from last month," Kotetsu answered. "I'm leaving now I promise."

"You'll need to take a back route," I advised, "the roads blocked off."

"Damnit, can you ask the doctor to hold on?" Kotetsu cursed all sort of words over the phone.

"I'll try," I answers honestly. There's no guarantee that the doctor could hold the appointment, maybe I could swap with someone? "Just get here safely.

"I'll be there in a heart beat!" With that the phone went dead.

I looked up to see the doctor walking towards me. "I assume mr Kabaragi isn't heat yet?" He asked taking a seat.

"I'm sorry but can we push back half an hour?" I asked, a bit embraced by my partner's lateness.

"We'll take you for your bloods and standards checks first before the scan, that should buy us some time," the doctor advised before walking off.

I couldn't help but breathe deeply. I'm very lucky right now. Kotetsu better show up sooner rather then later. "Ahhh," I stood up and peered my head my head around the corner. Smoke? There was smoke coming from one of the rooms. I turned to the other patients in the room, "we need to get out of here!" I exclaimed running towards the doctors office, crashing the door open. "I'm sorry but there's smoke coming from down the corridor. We need to move quickly."

The doctor nodded, grabbing his elderly patient to help escort her out. Meanwhile I carefully peered back
Around the corner to see if I could see the cause, I saw small flames approach the end of the corridor, shit! I turned to run, hearing an explosion go off as I did.  Damnit, I tried to run, my one arm covering my stomach. Please let the baby stay safe, was all o could thing.

BOOM! I screamed as I feel to the floor. Dust covering my eyes, I can't see. I tried to move my leg but it was too painful. I tried wiping away some of the dust and saw some of The ceiling fell on me, trapping my leg. My mind suddenly went fuzzy, what the? I noticed a green like fog start to engulf me. Kotetsu, was my final thought as my mind went blank...
