Interview
Barnaby's POV
I looked down at my phone as Kyle slept on my shoulder. I took the initiative and contacted a robotics lab asking if there were open opportunities. To my surprise, there was and I got offered the interview immediately. Now I actually have a date.
I haven't had an interview for quite a while, well a job interview that is. I guess it is strange to be worried about this sort of thing when it's been so long. Somehow I'm much more nervous now then i was when I was about to give birth. My heart fawned over as Kyle let out a yawn. My little man really is adorable. I certainly wish mom, dad and Samantha were here to see him. I know he's be spoilt for certain. Actually thinking about it, I'm sure Kotetsu has managed to make up for that.
Getting this new job would open up to the opportunity of having another child, planning a wedding and living normal life. A life Kotetsu and I were robbed of. I felt a pang of sadness hit me. That's right, this will be his second marriage. Tomoe, should I visit her grave, get her blessing? I'm a little confused. Kaede seems happy as does Anju but why am I now feeling guilty. "Bunny, I'm h-" Before Kotetsu could finish i shushed him as he walked into the living room. I didn't realise the time, not thinking her would be back by now. He flinched, noticing the sleeping baby beside me. He put his bags down before leaning down to greet me with a kiss. "Sorry, how long has he been out?"
"Only about half an hour," I explained, Kotestu taking a seat. "He went for his final vaccinations and i think the crying tired him out."
Kotetsu couldn't help but laugh as he took Kyle into his arms, being careful not to wake him. "Kaede had the same reaction," He laughed. "Look at him, he's starting to look like you. Well i think so."
I smiled a little, they say boys look like their mothers but I'm not sure how true that is when the mother is also male. "I think he'll have your tantrums though," I joked making Kotetsu grin. "Anyway, I need to talk to you about something."
"Is everything alright?" His voice turned to worry.
"It's fine, it's just, I've been given a job interview at my parents former employer," I explained.
There was a brief silence. "I thought you were returning to the Hero League," He stated, confused.
"I-I was thinking about it but then, the night at the party," I trailed off a bit, trying to find the words.
Kotetsu just looked at me then his eyes widened. I think he finally remembered what he said that night. Smiling he leant forward, kissing my forehead. "I will support you no matter what," He assured me. "I'm a greedy old man and hearing you be at home more and want more children get's me pretty excited."
"Is, is it really okay if its with me?" I asked nervously. "I know I'm not Tomoe but i want to make my old man happy where I can."
"Well, yeah you're not Tomoe," He said bluntly. "You're my little bunny and I love you more then you can understand." I blushed deeply, this old man knows how to hit me hard with his feelings. "I know some people think its bull but i kind of believe I was meant to meet you Bunny. We were meant to have Kyle and help each other in life. Tomoe would be happy I found someone who wants to be happy with me." I felt tears well up, covering my mouth as not to let the whines out. "This weekend, why not come with me to her grave? I can introduce you two."
I nodded, how can this old man read me so easily. "This weekend works," I advised moving me hand from my mouth. "Next weekend will be the interview and I would like to assure Tomoe I will be able to look after you with my new job."
Kotetsu just started to laugh, was what i said that embarrassing. Huis laughter was too loud as Kyle started to stir in his arms. He quickly shut up, trying to coo our son back to sleep. This time I laughed, my old man truly is silly, much less a tiger and more a kitten.
