Honesty

"Mr Kabargai," I looked up to see Bunny's doctor. For the past hour Bunny has been in intensive care with a team of experts rushing to his side. I was taken care of quickly and put into a private waiting area for Bunny. "My name is Doctor Meyer, I'm one of the specialists looking after Mr Brooks."

"Is He okay?" I asked frantically getting to my feet. I looked down to the doctors height. He's actually quite tiny. "What about the baby?"

"Mr Brooks and the baby are doing fine," Dr. Meyer advised. "However we need to keep him in for observation. I would suggest you get him a bag of some clothes, possibly some reading material as he could be here a while. I'm estimating approximately 2 to 3 weeks."

"That long?" I exclaimed grabbing his shoulders.

"It's a precautionary action as we've never had a case like mr.Brooks before," Dr. Meyer advised. I started to calm down taking my hands off him. This guy is a specialist, so he'll look after Bunny, right? He knows what he's talking about. "I understand that from Mr.LLoyds the situation the two of you are in so I will allow for extended visiting hours. I also recommend you get a hold of Mr.Brooks counsellor so she can come and take care of his mental health in the mean time."

"Thank you doctor" I cried holding out my hand. The doctor took it. I'm so grateful that's there's people like him wanting to look after others with such devotion. "Is he awake?"

"I'm afraid not. However if he wakes up in the meantime we'll contact you," I nodded. Well as long as he's safe and the baby that's all I can ask for.

Fortunately I have a key to Bunny's apartment now so I was able to let myself in. The clothes he has at mine need washing and I really can't be bothered to clean them. The sooner I get clean clothes for him the sooner I get back to the hospital. I grabbed the small suitcase that Bunny keeps hidden under his bed and started to fill it up with the necessary items. I'll probably have to come back in a week for more. I looked in the living room, seeing if there was anything I could take. I smiled as I saw the familiar robot toy and photo frame. I walked over and picked them both up, one in each hand. I looked at the photo of him with his parents closely. Soon enough we'll have a photo like this too. My heart warmed up at the thought. I continued to stare and the photo and the more I did I felt something looked off. I looked at Bunny's mother's stomach. It looked a little bit bloated to me. Almost like how Bunny looks now. Bunny doesn't have any siblings so maybe I'm over thinking it.

I walk back into the bedroom to place the items into the case. My eyes widened as I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I stumbled to grab it, I was disappointed seeing that it was Antonio calling and not the hospital. "Yo what's up?" I answered.

"Hey, any news on Barnaby yet?" I heard Antonio ask sounding a bit l panicked.

"He's okay but still asleep," I sighed sitting on the bed. "I'm a bit taken back by it all really."

"Listen," Antonio's tone changed. "I need you to be honest with me. How close are you and Barnaby?"

My heart felt like it stopped for a moment. I hadn't been honest with anyone yet. We were waiting for the both of us to feel comfortable before we told everyone, then all this happened. "If I tell you, you don't tell anyone else," I ordered. "Bunny and I are seeing each other and have been since we made it back to the first league heroes."

"Why didn't you tell me?" His tone now turned harsh. "You know I would have supported you!"

"Yeah but this was Bunny's choice," I defended. "He needed to be comfortable with us being an us first. I'm sorry."

I heard Antonio sigh on the other side. Now he knows why I've been ditching the drinking sessions with him. All I have to not do his bring up the baby. Bunny definitely would kill me! "Look, I understand you have to do what's best for Barnaby," he understands? "Just wish I knew sooner Kotetsu."

"I'm so sorry," I repeated. "I promise once he's better I'll tell you everything."

I felt my phone buzz again in my hands. It was the hospital. "I got to go," I told Antonio quickly ending our call and picking up the call from the hosptial. "Hello?"

"Mr Kabaragi, it's Dr Meyer here," his tone was cool and calm. "Mr Brooks is awake and is asking for you. May I ask how far you are, just to make sure he's at ease and assured you are coming?"

"I'm at his apartment, no longer then half an hour away," I answered getting up and trying to throw the remainder of his items into the suitcase.

"Thank you, we'll let him know." With that the hung went dead and I hurried to finish packing.

Once I was back at the hospital my heart was on my throat. I still feel guilty for not being there when Bunny needed me. I opened the door to the room to see Dr Meyer checking Bunny over. My eyes met Bunny's and with that I was lost. I ran over to him, pulling him into a tight hug. I heard the door close behind us, clearly the doctor had left us alone. "You came for me," bunny whispered into my shoulder. "Thank you."

"I'll always be there for you Bunny," I cried looking him in the eyes before locking our lips.
