Digging Up a Past
Kotetsu's POV
As I walked into Work I could hear the receptionist talking ideally. "I'm sorry miss Caswell, nothing has arrived," I heard her say. I looked over to see Emilia letting out a sigh. "I'll call you once we have something for you."
"Thanks Mindy," Emilia sighed walking towards me. "Morning Kotetsu."
"Morning trouble," I laughed. "What's got you down?"
"Oh, an old friend of mine passed a couple years ago and apparently her family found something they wanted to give me," she replied with a sad smile.
"Ah, So this is your chance for a momento," I said patting her head. "That's understandable."
We said our goodbyes as we went to the separate offices. Due to the nature of the work, she had her own office. Today was going to be boring, for once I didn't blow up a building or smash public transport so I don't have any reports to do, nor do I have any meetings so I'll just start property hunting! Ah, moving in with Bunny. It's a dream come true, although you would have thought that would have happened before the baby, but nothing goes to plan these days. "Oh hey Scott," I waved noticing our postman.
"Mr Kabaragi," he chimes walking over. "I have a parcel for Mr Brooks, is he still unwell?"
"Yeah," I said nervously, it's kind of lying but most people still don't know Bunny's condition. "I can take it for him."
Scott handed over the parcel, it felt chunky. He waved goodbye and I continued to inspect the parcel. What is this? I sighed, knowing that I should leave Bunny to sleep but I need to check what this is. I dialled his number and waited for the pick up. "Hey Kotetsu."
"Bunny, you've had a parcel at work, was you expecting it?" I asked.
"Can't say I was," he responded. "Can you check it for me? Oh sorry Kotetsu I have to go, the property agency are calling."
He quickly hung up without another word. I grunted placing the phone down and opening the parcel. A book. A photo album by the looks of it. Curiosity got the better of me as I opened the pages. It had some pictures of Bunny with Samantha. Aww, he's a cute little bunny. I turned the page and saw Samantha with a small brown haired girl. I looked closer, "Emilia?" I questioned. I continued to look at the pages and I saw a few pictures with Bunny and this girl when they were small. My heart raced. They seem to be pictures of Bunny and Emilia together. I've known Emilia since she was small and unless she has a twin, these look just like her. "Kotetsu?" I looked up seeing Ben with a worried face. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
"Ben, correct me if I'm wrong but Bunny lived with Maverick most his life right?" He nodded. "What if Maverick wiped more of Bunny's memory then we thought?"
Now Ben looked confused as I showed him the photos. These photos, all have Bunny smiling and laughing with Young girl and Samantha. "Are you saying Bunny had a sister?" Ben asked. Is that what I was thinking? Wait, the photo I found of Bunny's parents. His mother looked like how Bunny does now! "Kotetsu, you cant bring this up with him now. It might affect the baby."
"It's not like I have proof anyway," I sighed running a hand through my hair. "Where can I go?"
"I didn't tell you to do this," Ben began and leant into my ear. "Go to town hall, get Emilia's birth certificate and adoption papers, it's all publicly available."
I nodded, grabbing the book and decided to make my way down to town hall. I need answers before I jump the gun. I could be wrong but what if there's more to this story?
I took a deep breath as I was handed the documents. I scanned it over, yeah there were the documentation but what about birth, I turned the next page and my eyes immediately went to the bottom. Those names, the familiar names that Bunny has spoken about countless times.
Bunny has indeed got a little sister, and she's been under our noses all along.
