Barnaby's POV

I haven't moved in 24 hours, I've just laid in bed, not even my bed, it's Kotetsu's. Kaede is still with us while she's on break. When I say us, I have somehow temporally moved in with Kotetsu, Kaede thinks it's cute, almost like we are an actual family. I placed a hand on my stomach, feeling around my swollen abdomen. There, that's where another human is currently growing.

According to the doctor and other NEXT specialists I have a secondary power, one that allows me to carry children. To get pre- argh I can't! I can't say it! It was only a few months ago Kotetsu and I first slept together and now we're bond together by the bab- again I can't say it. "Bunny," I looked up to see Kotetsu at the door. "I made you breakfast, he placed it down on the dresser next to me. I looked on top of his head was a present from Kaede, a new hat, she certainly knows her father very well. "I'm taking Kaede shopping for Christmas, why not join in?"

"I'm not sure," I mumbled trying to sit up. I'm still embarrassed by the whole situation, this is all so sudden and I still can't determine these stupid feelings of mine.

Kotetsu sighed as he grabbed my left hand with his. I could feel the coolness of his ring against my skin. "Kaede has been looking forward to seeing you," he says to me rubbing his thumb on my skin. "I'm going to run you a nice hot bath, maybe even put a duckie or two in there." I smile and the thought, typical Kotetsu. "Just try and eat for me okay?" I gave a small nod as he kissed my forward. Oh his lips feel so good. "I love you Bunny."

He whispered those words before leaving for the bathroom. I can hear a mix of water and the sound of the tv from downstairs as I take the tray and place it on my lap. Looking at the food clearly this was done by Kaede, but still with love nether the less. A child's love. I wonder what she thinks of me now, am I a step parent? Am I someone she considers family? Perhaps this is something we should talk about, the three of us.

After my bath, I decided I would brave going shopping. I stared in the bathroom mirror at the puffiness in my eyes. My eyes slowly trail down to my stomach. It's slightly swollen, but only slightly. I'm hesitant to place my hand there and decide to continue with dressing myself in the clothes Kotetsu picked up for me. Sometimes I can believe what's happened, others I almost want to refuse it. It's shouldn't be happening but then again NEXT are something people thought wouldn't happen either.

Around noon we found ourselves walking around the toy store for Kaede, she claims she's a young adult but I can't help but smile at how child like she still is. Kotetsu has held my hand for most of the trip so far and when ever her saw a parent he would lightly squeeze my hand. I'm not sure what he meant by it.

"Hey look over her dad," Kaede called Kotetsu over and he finally let go of my hand. I watched him wonder to the animatronic animals with a huge smile on his face. Perhaps, he wants to be a father again and have a chance to spend time with his child. The scene warms my heart as he hugs Kaede who is holding onto the small animatronic puppies. I walked away, not really noticing where I was going.

I gasped as I looked up, realising I was in the baby section. I blushed and my heart was pounding in my chest. With a big gulp I walked over to the line of plush teddies. Curiosity took my over as I picked up a medium sized tiger.  I let out a small laugh, it kind of reminds me of Kotetsu with its face. "It would like nice against that stupid bunny plush I have," not realising I said it out loud I strode over the counter. 

Hours passed and Kaede had too many bags to count. Seeing as how the first league pays better I can see why Kotetsu wants to spoil her this year. Wait. I looked around and noticed Kotetsu wasn't around. "Dad went to the store across the road," Kaede laughed. "He told you but you were spaced out."

Now is a good chance, "Hey why don't we grab some hot chocolate?" Kaede's face brightened and she nodded vigorously.

We got a booth in a near by cafe and texted Kotetsu where to find us once he was done. "Say Kaede," I began. "How do you feel about my and Kotetsu being together?"

She looked at me confused her head was slightly tilted but she soon burst out laughing. That's not positive. "It's weird," she said after calming down. I frowned. "But I'm glad. Dad hasn't seemed happier since he met you and well if this makes him happy then I'm happy too." 

My heart filled up. She was so accepting of things at her age. She let out a small cheer as the hot chocolate was placed on the table. We ordered a third cup ready for when Kotetsu would show up. I never thought I'd be apart of something like this again. A part of a family.

After we were all done, it was back to the apartment. Kaede said she was going to have a nap in her room so Kotetsu and I took the chance to wrap up some of the gifts we had gotten. We laid out the table in front of the sofa so I didn't have to bend down too much. "Say Bunny," Kotetsu got my attention and when I looked at him he was blushing. He was messing around with a small black velvet box and opened it to show a gold colour chain. "This is a present for Kaede for Christmas. But it's missing something."

I watched in shock as he took the ring fro m his finger and threaded the gold chain through it. "What are you doing?" I asked, tears slightly forming in my eyes.

"This way Tomoe can also be with Kaede," he said closing the box and turning to face me. I felt my face continue to heat up as her stroked my cheek. "I will always love Tomoe but right now In this moment in time, Bunny, I love you." I felt the tears roll down my cheeks. What was happening? "I promise to you that I'll be there what ever decision you make about this baby. Bunny, you're my present. And the you're the best present I could have asked for."

I couldn't hold it back any longer. I lunged forward and began crying in his shoulder. This stupid old man, I really do love him.
