Memories
Credence was in Newt and Tina's home. Desperate for a change of scenery, Credence had leapt to the chance when Newt offered to let him stay at their house for a few nights. When he first walked in, he was greeted by a large hug from Dawn and a slap on the back from Phoenix. They then both ran off, leaving him alone for a bit.
A blue glow caught his eye. He turned towards it.
A pensive.
He peered into the liquid in the pensive. He gasped at what he saw.
It was Caoimhe. A much younger version of her, maybe about twelve. Without hesitation, he plunged his face into it eagerly.
In the memory, Caoimhe was sitting on a piano bench, a piano in front of her. She was playing a sweet little tune, humming along to it softly. She was so young, so beautiful, so innocent. This Caoimhe did not know the darkness that lay ahead for her. She did not know that he was even alive. She was just sitting there, the sweetest smile on her face, playing the simple tune on the piano.
She lifted her head and smiled in Credence's direction. "Come play with me!" she said cheerfully. Newt walked right through Credence, taking his seat next to her. "It's a beautiful song," Newt said with a smile. Caoimhe laughed, a musical sound to Credence's ears. "How did it go?" she asked Newt. Newt turned bright red, and she laughed again. "I think Tina had fun on Starlight. I'm not sure though. She was so scared up there, she nearly strangled me." Newt sighed. "Why can't I just tell her how I feel?" "Suck it up and tell her, Newt!" she said.
"I can't."
"Why?"
"Because what if she doesn't feel the same way?"
"Newt, what did you do after the hippogriff ride?"
"Huh?"
"You heard me."
"I... um..."
"Spit it out."
"I kissed her cheek."
Newt buried his face in his hands from embarrassment. Caoimhe shook her head, smiling fondly. "What did she do?"
"Huh?"
"Newt!"
"She let me."
"See? I've seen it from the moment she got here. She loves you!"
"You think so?"
"I know so!"
Newt laughed and hugged her. She kissed his cheek. "I like her more than I like Alice," Caoimhe chuckled. "Me too," Newt grinned. "So go get her, doofus!" Caoimhe laughed. He kissed the top of her head. "Will you teach me the tune you were just playing?" he asked. "Only if you let Tina be your date to the celebration Alice always throws," Caoimhe challenged. Newt sighed.
"Deal."
Credence found himself back at Newt and Tina's home, Newt standing by the pensive. "I'm sorry," Credence mumbled shamefully. "I don't mind," Newt said with a shrug. "I almost had forgotten what she was like before the sickness," Credence sighed. "That's why I extracted my happiest memories of her. I don't want to forget," Newt said softly. "That memory was my happiest one of her."
