Chapter 7
Jeremy and I continued to walk towards the Petalburg Woods to get to Rustboro City, until a small kid run right up to us. He stopped right in front of us then he began to pant.
"Hey y-you, I'd l-like to b-battle with you." He said panting in between his words. A battle? Could this be my first Pokémon battle besides the time with Sabrina? Finally a real battle.
"Alright I'll battle you." I said with confidence. Jeremy backed up and stood a few feet away to watch the battle. The kid pulled out a pokéball then threw it out. It revealed some sort of fluffy Pokémon, that was brown. I pulled out my Pokédex and lifted it right at the Pokémon.
Zigzagoon, the tiny raccoon Pokémon.
Zigzagoon restlessly wanders everywhere at all times. This Pokémon does so because it is very curious. It becomes interested in anything it happens to see.
Hm a Zigzagoon? It says it's a normal type. This will be an easy battle. Okay, let's fight fire with fire or in this case, normal with normal.
"Kobe, I choose you!" I say as I throw my Pokéball. "You go first kid."
"Now Zigzagoon use Headbutt." Zigzagoon was now running up to Kobe head first. I had to think of something.
"Kobe! Counter it with tackle." Kobe nodded then ran up to Zigzagoon and countered it's move with Kobe. Both of them went flying back to there sides of the battlefield, then landed on there paws. Kobe shook some of the dirt on its fur off, along with Zigzagoon. "Now Kobe, use quick attack!" I say. Kobe began running in full speed towards Zigzagoon then hit him. A direct hit! Zigzagoon immediately went flying backwards, then hit the ground. Zigzagoon struggled to get up until I finally collapsed onto the ground.
"The winner is Luna!" Jeremy says like he was the referee of the battle. I pranced around in joy, then I caught a glance of the kid. I stopped, then I walked up to him. He held his Zigzagoon with love and care and whispered a few words into its ear.
"Hey, you did a good job, kid." I say to cheer him up. He looked up, then smiled.
"You too." He replied. "How did you get that Eevee so strong?" He questioned.
"He's been through the Johto region with my friend, Jeremy. He is one heck of a strong Pokémon, even if you may least expect that from an Eevee." I explained then let out a small laugh at the end.
"Wow, that's cool," the kid cheered in excitement after hearing the backstory of Kobe. "I got this Zigzagoon a few days ago. I'm starting to become a Pokémon trainer and that's why I'm asking everyone to battle me, but I never win." The kid looked at his shoes, sadly.
"It's alright," I heard Jeremy say to cheer up the little boy. "One day, you'll become a great Pokémon trainer like myself. Right now I'm teaching Luna the basics of Pokémon battles and all sorts of stuff like that." The kids face light up with a wide smile.
"Thanks," He said. "I think I should be going now so thank you for the battle." I waved goodbye to the kid as he returned one too me.
"Okay where to next." I turn over to Jeremy asking him which way is the quickest way to get to Rustboro City.
"Let's see, right here. Straight threw this forest." Jeremy pointed his finger to the big towering trees. The trees looked like all they brought were darkness, not a speck of sunshine.
"Okay, let's go."
