Chapter 12
Finally the battle has started. Jeremy backed up and stood near the sidelines to watch the battle, safely. I stood with confidence as I watched Roxanne pull out a odd looking blue Pokémon that looked like a stone-shaped nose. Without hesitation, I pulled out my Pokedex to scan the Pokémon's information.
Pokedex: Nosepass, The Compass Pokémon. Nosepass had been said to be completely unmoving, with its magnetic nose pointed due north. However, close observation has revealed that the Pokémon actually moves by a little over 3/8 of an inch every year.
The end of the entry shocked me a bit, but now was not the time to hang around in my thoughts. I held out my Pokeball for which one was the right. Finally, I had the strongest and most effective one.
"Treecko, come out," I hollered, throwing my Pokeball out into the battlefield. Treecko shot out of his Pokéball and prepared for the battle.
Roxanne gave me a wicked grin, then chuckled, "I see your choice of Pokèmon. Now, let the battle begin!" As she hollered that statement, I have a reassuring smile to Treecko.
Roxanne offered us to start off the battle, due to it being the rules for the challenger to begin. I took a deep breath before saying my first move. I was now ready to earn my first gym badge.
"Treecko, use quick attack!" I commanded. Treecko nodded briefly, then dashed over, using all of its might to attack Nosepass. Unfortunately, once Treecko hit Nosepass, he immediately collapsed onto the gym grounds, rubbing his head.
"W-what just happened?" I questioned myself. It was unclear to me why Treecko couldn't attack it, yet he had the advantage from making the first move.
"Luna, as much as you might thing you have the type advantage," Roxanne informed right after questioning myself. "quick attack is a Normal type move; it not effective towards Rock type Pokèmon."
A drop of sweat slid down my face. I should've known. After traveling the Kanto region with Jeremy, I should've kept in mind that Normal types have a disadvantage against Rock types. Although, from what I remember, Grass type moves are extremely effective towards Rock types, so I'll just use one of Treecko's Grass type moves.
I was about to call out another move, until Jeremy shouted from the sidelines. "Luna, you're not supposed to go twice in a row. Roxanne has make a move and you counter it right after."
I sighed at Jeremy's response. I disliked rules a lot, but if you're a Pokèmon trainer, then rules are a part of your life now.
I looked back at Treecko, who was now getting up. I could see the rage in his eyes. From that impact, I'm sure my little Treecko must me furious.
My eyes, slowly moved upwards, now gazing right a Roxanne's eyes. She was filled with determination, but so was I. Without anymore interruptions, Roxanne hollered, "Nosepass, show them how it's done. Use rock throw!"
Roxanne's Nosepass awkwardly walked towards some rocks, and lifted them up with its strength. It began hurling one by one each rock towards Treecko, causing him to run around, hopefully not getting squashed by one. As Treecko continued avoiding every boulder being thrown at him, I came up with a quick plan that would sure fool Roxanne and Nosepass.
"Treecko," I called, gaining his attention. "use quick attack once more!" Treecko gave me an odd and concerning look, yet he did what I told. He began to bolt towards Nosepass, continuing the process of avoiding each rock. Once he was about to tackle Nosepass with full speed, I bellowed, "Quick Treecko, use absorb,"
Treecko was in midair as he placed his hands directly at Nosepass. Due to Nosepass' slow movement, the attack hit effectively. Light green bubbles appeared from Nosepass, causing him to loose some HP. It's HP slowly returned to Treecko, refreshing him and now as healthy as before the battle.
Nosepass quickly collapsed, but immediately stood right back up again. I heard Roxanne mockingly burst into laughter, then say, "It's gonna take more than that to take down my Nosepass,"
Her words were cutting deeper and deeper like a blade, but I knew that wouldn't stop me.

The battle continued for what seemed like ages. I told Treecko to keep using absorb or magical leaf, a move with consists of a storm of rainbow colored leaves thrown towards the opponent. Nosepass, on the other hand, kept using Rock type moves or tackle from time to time. I tried as best as I could to get Treecko to avoid all of the thrown boulders, so he wouldn't be mistakenly crushed by one. Nosepass, however, failed at dodging Treecko's attacks, but it was true, it took a lot to get Nosepass down.
Finally after many attacks done by Treecko, Nosepass struggled to get up from the rocky ground. This was my chance to finally end this battle. "Treecko, finish it off with pound," It might have not been the strongest move, considering it being a Normal type attack, but it was enough to finish the battle and claim my prize; my first gym badge.
Treecko, rapidly approached Nosepass and whipped it's tail right at Nosepass' stone hard body. And with that unaltered move, Nosepass was defeated.
"Yes," I cheered happily in glee. "we did it Treecko, now we can earn our badge." Treecko threw its first in the air happily as we cheered together.
"Not so fast, Luna." Roxanne called out. I looked back over to her, ending my victory dance. "it's not over, yet. You do realize you have to complete the battle before earning the badge, right?"
I answered, "Yeah, I know. Didn't I just finish it?"
"No," she replied, surprising me in the process. "I have one more Pokèmon left. In order to obtain the gym badge, you must defeat my last Pokèmon. But by the looks of it, Treecko doesn't seem so good from the rough battle it just had, so—,"
"No," I cut her off, not trying to be rude. "I can do it. So can Treecko. We just have to defeat one more Pokèmon of yours. It'll be a piece of cake."
A smirk curled onto her lips as she accepted my final request. She grabbed out a Pokéball and shouted, 'return' to Nosepass. It was then covered in a red aura, and returned back into its Pokéball to rest. After placing the Pokéball back into her pocket, Roxanne took out another, then threw it onto its battlefield. Once the Pokèmon came out, it revealed a Pokèmon that I knew would be a challenge and risk for me to defeat; Graveler.
Hey everyone, sorry for the late update. I was slowly working on this chapter but what slowed me down was the battle experience. I want to be full in detail when writing with battles in this story so yeah.
Also if I haven't told you all yet, this story may consist of over 50 chapters due to having Luna's full Pokèmon journey. If I'm wrong in the future, we'll go ahead an blame me. It's just an educated guess.
Thanks for reading the chapter and I'll get the next one out right away. You guys won't have to wait long.
Bye!
