Chapter 11

"This is it," Jeremy said as he looked up at the gym. "Its time for you to get your first gym badge." I turned my head slightly, nodding in agreement.

Lilly glanced up at me, sadly. "I have to go now. My mom will be worried if I don't return home in time for lunch. I hope you win, Luna. May Arceus be with you." I bent down to her height and wrapped my arms around her small body. Jeremy did the same, except he patted her on the head. The two of us stood up and waved goodbye as she walked off.

"Thank you...," I whispered, carefully watching the little girl skip back to her house.

"Alright, let's do this," Jeremy looked left and right, trying to find something as I curiously watched what he was doing. He walked over to a small sigh that was pinned into the ground. "It says here that the gym leaders name is Roxanne and she battles with Rock types."

I stopped and pondered for a moment on which Pokèmon has the advantages over Rock types. "Rock types...hm...oh Fighting, Water, Grass, Ground, and Steel are super effective against Rock's. Kobe wouldn't work because he's a Normal Type and his moves won't work best against the Pokèmon Roxanne has, so since Treecko is a Grass type, he will have the best advantage against her Pokèmon."
Jeremy stood as still a Graveler at what I just explained. "C-correct," he stuttered in complete shock. I smiled in embarrassment, placing my hand behind my head.

"I guess we should get going." I stated. Jeremy nodded, then he followed me towards the front entrance. I was about to grab the handle to open the door, until someone slammed the door open, hitting me in the face. "Ouch!" I cried out in pain. "What in the name of Arceus was that for?"

"Sorry, hon," a female voice apologized. I looked up and noticed Sabrina standing at the doorway, suddenly placing her hands over her mouth in shame. "Oh sweet Suicunes'! Luna, are you alright? I didn't see you there."

"Yeah, I'm fine now...but I don't know if my nose is okay...," I answer, touching the surface of my nose which began to throb instantaneously.

"Okay, good. Hey, by any chance are you going to challenge Roxanne?" she asked, curiously.

I nodded. "Yeah, I am."

A small giggle escaped her mouth. "Well I wish you luck. She's a tough battler and she's got the skills so don't let your guard down." Sabrina explained, while grabbing out a mirror and fixed her blonde hair.

"Haha, that's alright. I believe that Luna can do it. After all, she has battled a few people along the way, especially a Team Aqua Grunt." Jeremy reassured, patting me slightly on the back.

Sabrina's blue eyes widen as she grasped heavily. "You battled a Team Aqua Grunt? I barely escaped one of them. He was so strong, even my little Torchic couldn't beat him. But, luckily we got away just in time," Sabrina paused for a moment as she noticed a bright red light appear that was coming from her bag. As the light faded, a small orange chicken-like Pokèmon appeared. "Ah, Torchic, there's my little cream puff. Oh right, I also got another Pokèmon too. Its a Wurmple. I know, a Bug type...ugh...but I only wanted one so I could get a Beautifly!"

"You do realize there's a fifty-fifty chance that you could get a Dustox, instead of a Beautifly?" I replied, crossing my arms in annoyance.

"Of course not, hon. I know for sure that I will get a Beautifly! Only the purest of trainers are able to get perfect Wurmples" she bragged as I rolled my eyes.

"Well, I better get going. It was nice bumping into you, Sabrina. Well...mostly a door, but I don't want to think about that." As we said out goodbye's, Jeremy and I walked right inside the gym's entrance.

As we walked inside, I noticed everything was filled with rock decor. Stone-shaped pillars filled every corner along with dusty dirt covering the ground. From where we were standing, there was a lighter patch of dirt that formed a path, and led to the end of the building.

"Wow...this place is amazing," I state as I gazed around the gym in awe. As I glance around the gym from corner to corner, I spot someone all the way in the back of the gym, caring for her Pokèmon.

"I think that's Roxanne," I hear Jeremy mutter under his breath. I turned my head towards him and nod slightly. "Let's go meet her."
I followed Jeremy towards Roxanne. Even though the gym looked small on the outside, its actually bigger than I thought. It only took us a minute or two just to reach Roxanne. Before I opened my mouth to greet her, I climbed up a small staircase that led to her and the Pokèmon she was taking care of. Once I parted up the small staircase, I cleared my throat, ready to confront the gym leader.

"Excuse me," I began. Roxanne stopped what she was doing and faced me, planting a smile filled with pleasure and confidence onto her face. "Um...I'm Luna and this is Jeremy. I would like to challenge you to a gym battle so I could claim my first gym badge."

Roxanne's smile grew. "Alright, but I'll warn you, I'm not as weak as I seem, since I'm a girl. And if you heard any rumors about the first gym leader being a piece of cake, don't swallow the lies they feed you, there not always good for you. I will fight to the very end, but I will keep in mind that my Pokèmon aren't only going to be the one learning from this battle...it will also be me. Let's begin!"

Omg I'm so sorry that I didn't update in over a month, I was really busy. I hope to get another chapter up soon because I enjoy writing this book and I have many ideas planed for the future. Hope you enjoyed the chapter.
