Chapter 10
"Look!" I pointed my finger at the small patch of sunlight up ahead. I noticed Jeremy's eyes widen in relief. I was also happy, considering that we were in that forest for hours trying to find the exit.
The two of us began to run towards the light patch at the end of the forest, eagerly wanted to get out. Once we got out, I winced my eyes to see everything around me. At first, everything was blurry due to us not seeing much sunlight for hours. I finally regained some of my vision, then looked around. Sadly, we haven't reached the town and we have no idea how far it is from where we are at the moment.
"Great," I sigh. "We're probably lost." Jeremy nodded in return. I looked around for any signs, but their were none in our sight. "Maybe we should find someone and ask for help. I'm assuming there's someone around here that knows the right direction."
"I think that's a good idea," Jeremy says, then looked all directions for somebody to help us. "Hey, I found someone!" I turn my head from where he pointed at and spotted a young girl picking flowers.
I glance back at Jeremy with an unamused expression on my face. "Really? She looks like she's five? She's not going to know where Rustboro City is!"
Jeremy sighed deeply. "At least we could try." I roll my eyes, then we began to head over to the little girl.
Jeremy and I paused a few feet away from the little girl, who was sniffing some daisy's. Jeremy nudged his elbow onto mine, giving me a sign that he wanted me to ask for directions. Once again i sighed, then took a few steps toward her.
"Um excuse, but my friend and I are looking for Rustboro City. Do you know where it might be?" I asked kindly in a sweet tone. The girl looked up at me, placing the flowers she held onto the ground. She gave me a small grin then nodded her head.
"Yep, all you gotta do is follow the path straight down, then take a left onto a small wooden bridge and that will lead you to the city." she explained kindly. I smiled and ruffled her dark brown hair.
"Thank you," I say, happy that Jeremy and I were not lost.
"How about I take you guys there?" the little brunette offered. "I'm going to my Mama's shop to drop of these flowers and the shop is in the city." I looked over a Jeremy. He nodded in return. I turned my head back down; facing the girl.
"Sure," I smiled. "We'd be glad to come along with you," The little girl's excitement grew, as she jumped around in circles, happily. "Oh and I'm Lilly! Sorry I didn't introduce myself at first."
"Its fine." I beamed in a cheerful matter. "I'm Luna and this is Jeremy. I'm trying to get to Rustboro City to get my first gym badge."
Lilly's eyes brightened, and a large grin appeared on her face. "Really? That's amazing! I wanna be a Pokémon Trainer when I grow up too!" Suddenly, her bright shimmering eyes drooped; saddened at some-sort of memory or something she just realized. "But, my mama said that she wants me to become a florist...not a trainer..." Her voice trailed off as she sadly walked, guiding us to the city.
Jeremy had a guilty expression on his face. Whenever I turned my head, facing him, he would always bite his lip. I nudged his shoulder to get his attention.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked in concern.
He looked up from the ground, then slowly bringing his head up. "Not really. I feel so bad for this little girl," he whispered, so Lilly wouldn't be able to hear us. "Her mom is telling her that she can't be a trainer, but its her dream too."
I dropped my head to the ground for a moment, pondering on what to do next. Finally, I came up with a solution that will solve both Jeremy's and Lilly's problems.
"How about you explain to Lilly that she has the ability to tell her mom about wanting to become a trainer. Heck, that's most of the dreams of the kids in this world." Jeremy looker over and smiled; nodding in agreement for my response.
Jeremy walked up to Lilly, now standing right beside her. Lilly glanced up, giving Jeremy a slight smile. I heard the sound of someone taking a deep breath, I'm assuming it was Jeremy. Finally, he spoke, "Listen Lilly, you don't always have to believe what your mom says. If you want to fulfill your dream of becoming a Pokémon Trainer than do so. Stand up to your mother at times. I believe that you have the courage to do so inside of you." Jeremy finished his thoughtful speech, looking a bit astonished after he said all of those heartwarming things.
Lilly stood in complete shock; her jaw slightly dropped. Tears of joy welled up in her eyes as she hugged Jeremy's leg, tightly.
After that breathtaking moment, Lilly continued to guide us to Rustboro City. Finally, she stopped dead in her tracks. We were now standing at the entrance of Rustboro City. Bright lights and tall buildings that towered over each other filled the entire city.
"Well, this is it...Rustboro City," Lilly says with slight grin on her face. "Come on, the gym is this way!" Jeremy and I began to follow Lilly throughout the city, heading towards the gym.
At last, the three of us stood a few feet away from the gym. Finally, the moment had come that I will finally receive my first gym badge as a Pokémon Trainer.
