03| So the tigress can laugh
Tammy's POV
We were done with orientation when they announced that classes would start soon. We all left the hall they had gathered us in an hour before.
"I can't believe I got up by 6 o'clock for this" I whine as I rub my eyes, still sleepy.
"Is someone cranky they didn't get their full ten hours of sleep?" MJ mused.
"Quit it and just tell me what we have first" I asked
We had first, third and seventh period together. Whatever those classes are.
"Physics. Great just the thing to start any impactful learning filled day"
Note the sarcasm.
"Where's Grace?" I said as I turned round.
"Must've shuffled to class while we weren't looking" MJ thought not bothered at the sudden disappearance of our friend. I shrugged it of knowing we would meet up during fifth period, Linear Algebra I think.
I had eight periods in total every weekday. Four before lunch and four after. All forty minutes (lunch inclusive).
MJ and I finally made it to Physics class but the place was as rowdy as a carnival. Though this didn't seem to bother Mr Victor who seemed either too busy to care or too engrossed reading an article about hair growth on his phone for his ever growing central bald spot.

"Everybody, open your textbooks to page 97" Ms O'Neil ordered.
I hadn't been able to go to the main office to collect my books so I asked my seatmate if we could share.
"Aren't you supposed to have your own, new girl?" The guy asked, not looking up from his book.
"I haven't gone to the front office yet, plus it's no big deal. You won't even know you're sharing" I assured him, ignoring his rude question.
"Fine but just because you're hot, new girl" he reluctantly agreed giving me a perverted smirk.
I shuddered and ignored his poor excuse of a compliment.
"I have a name you know" but before he could respond, Ms O'Neil beat him to it.
"I want you all to do the exercise on page 101" she ordered, making me think of 101 Dalmatian Street, the cartoon my siblings were watching the last night I was home. I wanted to change the channel but they vehemently refused, threatening to bite me if I did. I unconsciously began to hum the theme song.
'One o one, one o one, one o one-'
"Dalmation street" the guy finished.
I stared at the guy in disbelief then started laughing and he joined me.
"Oh, was I singing that out loud?" I ask as I gradually stop laughing, looking embarrassed.
"Yeah, but I had to finish it. That's my sister's favorite cartoon, at the moment and it drives me nuts" he replies looking just as embarrassed.
"Really? Me too! My brothers watch it all the time. But the theme song is pretty catchy"
"The name's Matthew, but my friends call me Matt" he says as he offers me his hand.
"Tammy" I reply as I shake his hand.
"I'm sorry if I we got off on the wrong foot before" he says putting a hand on the back of his neck, smiling nervously.
"Don't sweat it, any enemy of 101 Dalmatian Street is a friend of mine" I say giving him a warm smile which he returned with an even bigger grin.

"You think Ms O'Neil will be mad that we left without permission" I asked as we walked down the long corridor.
"Nah, she's too busy staring at her phone to realize she's two students short"
We had been wandering the corridors while Matt showed around the school. It was a nice school too. The had a football and a soccer team. Though the main sport at the school was basketball. The Sunview High's Anacondas (which I learned is a type of snake).
Matt was on the basketball team and he was a star player, to my amazement. It's not like he doesn't look fit, I'm sure that shirt is hiding a glorious set of abs - stop it Tammy- I mean nothing about him portrays basketball, to me anyway.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrring
You must be wondering, 'What the heck is that?'. That, my dear friends, is the school bell.
"Well, Ms Abbey, there comes the end of our tour" Matt says, giving me a small bow, which makes me laugh.
"Thank you, Mr Stone" I say giving him a curtsy.
"I'm going back to my locker to drop my stuff, after that we can go to lunch" he offers.
"Sure, I'll meet you at the cafeteria" I say as we part ways.
I go around with the paper given to me by the admin.
'Locker 56B' I thought to myself as I searched for my locker. The halls were getting more and more crowded with kids so eventually I gave up on trying to find my locker and headed to the cafeteria when I bumped into someone.
"Sorry" I muttered as I passed him but he held me back by my wrist.
"Hey, have I seen you someplace before?" he asked.
"I doubt-" the words were caught in my throat when I realized who it was.
'Please don't remember who I am' I prayed inwardly.
"Yeah, you're the girl that was watching me from your balcony" he says finally remembering who I was.
Shit.
I just stood there staring into bright emerald green eyes for what seemed like forever. They had little specs of blue which made them even more interesting to look at.
God, He was even more gorgeous in person... Snap out of it Tammy! If you continue gawking at him he'll think you're a total creep.
Well, he already caught me stalking him from my balcony so I guess he already thinks that. Well, might as well not prove him right.
I snapped out of it and regained by ability to speak.
"Firstly, I have a name you know. And secondly, I wasn't watching you" I snapped back as I tried to free myself from his grip but to no avail.
"Sorry" he said pulling me back, "But from there it looked like you were checking me out" he says with a smirk.
"Don't flatter yourself cuz I wasn't" I deadpanned.
"I have a few friends that would say other wise" he adds, "Plus who wouldn't want a cute chick like you check 'em out"
I rolled my eyes at this.
'This dude is so cocky' I thought to myself.
"Well it's too bad I wasn't checking you then"
"Okay, okay. I'm not arguing with you tigress" he says raising his hands in surrender and I can't help but laugh.
"So the tigress can laugh"
"What made you think I couldn't?"
"No reason, my name's Bryce by the way" he said as he offers me his hand to shake.
"Tammy" I say shaking it.
"Well Tammy, since we're both headed to the same place why don't I walk you there?"
"I'm not sure" I say pretending to think it over.
"C'mon, I'll treat you to lunch" he offered.
"You had me at treat and lunch" I say which makes him laugh.
"So you're a foodie, huh?" he asks as we walk towards the cafeteria.
"Yup. If you want to win me over just give me something with a lot of sugar or a lot of pepper"

"Ugh, the food here sucks. Isn't there anywhere else you guys eat?" I ask as I try to swallow what I assume to be a burger.
"Nope, the school just makes it mandatory to eat here every first day" Matt replies, poking his chicken.
We were at the cafeteria, me, MJ, Grace, Bryce and Matt and some of their friends. It turns out both Bryce and Matt are on the basketball team and are surprisingly really popular.
As we walked towards the basketball team's table, I heard a lot of whispers asking how I, the newbie, knew two of the hotest basketball players in the school. I really wanted to tell them to mind their own business but I could only roll my eyes. They weren't that hot, well they were but I'd seen hotter.
Back home, people called me a tomboy just because I liked guy stuff and almost all my friends were guys except my best friend Vanessa. As you can guess, she was a girl.
I sighed at the memory of home. I really missed everyone.
We sat and ate and talked for a while. Then I saw a familiar figure walk up to our table with a group of girls behind her.
Hannah.
"Cheerleaders?" I asked
They shook their heads to my surprise.
"Then who are they?" I ask as I sip my pineapple juice box.
"The dance team" Matt answered causing me to choke on my juice.
"Are you okay?" They ask as they look at me concerned but my concern is in the last answer he gave.
"Hannah is the dance captain?" I asked in disbelief.
I had heard the school had a good dance team and an even better team captain. At least they were half right.
"Well, vice-captain" Matt corrected
"So who's the captain?" I asked
"That would be me" a perky natural blonde said as she held out her hand for me to shake.
"I'm Amy"
"Tammy" I say taking it.
"If you're asking for the captain so you can join the dance squad we're always welcome to new dancers" she offered politely.
Of course I wanted to join the dance team. Dance was my one true love, second only to food. But I wouldn't want to lead her to think I was desperate to join. I was but she didn't have to know that.
"I'll think about it"
"So are you gonna seat and eat with us or what?" Matt said as he stuffed his mouth with the mystery meat burger, I had learned it was called.
It was actually really nice talking to Amy and Hannah. They weren't all bad except when they were gossiping about someone or something. I hate to say it but I actually enjoyed their company.
Yeah, I really hated saying it.
Hey lillipads. Another chapter done🥳
At school, on a beautiful Monday morning our school decided to welcome us with our first period as Chemistry🧪

So I decided to share that joy with Tammy though she didn't really appreciate it😪
