HAPPY READING...
FOUR POV
"Tobias, son go up to your room", my mom says as she hears the front door open indicating my dad's arrival. I hear the smash of a bottle on the living room wall before I run up the stairs to my room. Shutting my door, I hear my dad dragging my mom upstairs to their bedroom. I climb into bed, burying my head into the pillow knowing what will happen next.
I hear a lot of whispers and pleads before the voices become louder. "You ungrateful bitch", dad shouts, slapping mom. I hear her fall to the ground at the impact. "You are a good for nothing, pathetic little whore", he yells grabbing her and slamming her head onto the wall. I hear her trying to stifle her cries as he repeatedly slams her weak body onto the wall. I hear her fall to the floor with a thud and a glass smash onto the floor as her cries come to a stop...
I shoot up in bed, beads of sweat dripping from my forehead. I throw the sheets off of my body, getting out of bed, and going out to the balcony. I step out inhaling the cool night air, the night breeze calming me. I look back to the clock on my bedside table, it read 5:30.
I sigh, now there is no going back to sleep. I may as well get my day started. I walk into the adjacent bathroom, taking a long shower as I assemble my thoughts. As I change into a light grey T-shirt and faded jeans, I decide to drive around for a while to clear my head. I grab a pair of sunglasses and a cap big enough to cover part of my face. I take my time tying up my shoes and grabs the car keys from its holder before heading out. Walking towards my Mercedes, I decided to get some coffee.
I drive toward 'Dàutè Cafe', relaxing as soft music plays from my car. As I park my car and get out, I adjust my cap and sunglasses. I don't want anyone to recognize me. I have planned a relaxing day for me and that means away from people. Entering the cafe, I notice that there are not many people around. I let out a sigh.
Waking towards the counter, I hear a laugh. My eyes search for the source of the sound, landing on a perfect pair of glossy pink lips. My eyes scan the rest of her face; blonde hair tied up in a bun, grey eyes and a breathtaking smile adorned her face. Beautiful is an understatement. This girl is gorgeous. I can't help but stand there mesmerized as she laughs at something the girl at the counter says. I snap out of my trance before anyone notices. I clear my throat.
"Excuse me, " I say. Two pairs of eyes turn to me. The grey-eyed girl stops laughing, pushing her friend to me. I turn towards her friend and give my order, before turning around and settling myself into a corner table.
My eyes go back to the counter, as I see her friend pass her the order, whispering something in her ears. A small blush taints her cheek and she takes my order and goes inside. Minutes later she comes out with my coffee, placing them on a tray and walking towards me. As she reached my table, I see Amar running towards me. He trips onto her, causing her to fall and the tray to jump out of her hands. The coffee spills onto me as she and Amar fall down. I quickly stand up.
"Amar, what are you doing, " I say glaring at him, as I help her up, picking up the coffee cup and tray.
"I am so sorry, " I say as she stands up.
"No sir, I am sorry. Please let me, " she says taking the tray and cup out of my hands.
"I'll get you another one sir, " she says cleaning up the table. I hurry over, guilty.
"No, no it's my fault. Let me help you there." I say trying to help her.
"Please sir, this is my job. Let me, " she says. I am about to argue when I am interrupted by a yell.
"Tris, " I hear a man shout. Coming out of his office, I see the anger in his eyes. He is about my height but is more built and muscular. He had a cold and menacing look plastered on his face.
He stomps over to the girl, Tris as she hurriedly picks up the tray and cup before turning around. Towering over her, he glares down at her.
"What the hell are you doing, " he yells.
"It's okay. It wasn't her fault. My manager accidentally ran into her, " I speak up. He doesn't even seem to acknowledge me as he grabs her shoulders.
"Can't you be a little more careful, you clumsy fool, " he shouts. I see his hands tightening around her shoulders. Tris looks down, biting her lip. That's it. This is unacceptable.
"That's enough Mister. It wasn't her fault and even if it was, this is not the way to treat your staff." I say pushing him away from her.
"I'm the one the coffee spilled on and if I don't have any complaints, then why do you?" I say crossing my arms over my chest. He steps back, glaring at me. He turns to her,
"I'll deal with you later, " he says stepping back, before turning around and going to, I think his office. After he slams the door shut, I turn to Tris.
"Hey, are you okay, " I ask, gently lifting her face.
"I'm good. Thank you, " she whispers, turning around before I could catch a glimpse of her grey eyes and hurries towards the staff washroom.
I sigh, sitting back down at the table. Amar comes over to me, sitting down on the other side. I had completely forgotten about him until now.
"Four, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for all this to happen." he apologizes.
"I know you didn't, I just feel guilty. She did nothing wrong and now that bastard will make her suffer, " I say.
"We'll make it up to her. I promise." Amar says sincerely, trying to make up for being clumsy. I nod, looking towards the washroom and hoping that she will be alright.
"Hope is not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out."
I hope that makes up for the delay. Tests are coming up and I've been busy with school and programs. I'll try and keep you all updated. Do comment and let me know what you think. Share your ideas on how you want this story to go and I'll make sure to consider your ideas as well.
