Chapter 10

Hey guys. I know I have not updated in like forever. Lots of things have happened. I was feeling really down last week because my wonderful editor and bestie kiaravinidatta left for Europe, for her higher studies. So I was spending the entire week with her. And this week was my birthday. All these kept me away from my writing. I hope I am not boring you with my life. Anyway, let's get back to the story.
HAPPY READING...

FOUR POV

I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing. Propping myself up in bed, I glance over at the clock sitting on the side table, 6:15! Who is calling me this early? Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I pick up the phone. The caller ID flashes 'Zeke'. Letting out a sigh, I answer.

"Hello?", I mumble, my voice laden with sleep.

"Hey, Four. Hope you're not still in bed," he chirps. How can he have this much energy after a long night?

"How are you awake. We just got back like 4 hours ago," I ask him.

"Well, I got my beauty sleep already. So we are going to catch up," he says.

"Fine. My place or yours?" I ask, getting out of bed.

"None. We're meeting up at a cafe," he says. I roll my eyes, and before I can get a word out, he continues.

"And also, you are not going to cover up your face," he warns. I sigh.

"Zeke, you know I hate people intervening in my personal life. I don't need the paparazzi to follow me and film me having coffee or me going to the washroom, " I grumble.

"You don't have to worry about that. Uri's girlfriend has a friend who works at this cafe. She has reserved a table for us, secluded from the main area," he confirms.

"Okay then. When should we go?" I ask.

"We have to be there at 4:30. It seems that her boss is terrible. He is apparently a miser and can even get her fired for this. So we have to get back before he shows up," he informs.

"I'll pick you up by 4:15 then," I ask.

"Cool. See you. Don't be late. Bye," he says.

"Sure. Bye," I say hanging up.

Stepping out onto the balcony, I inhale the fresh morning air. The memories of last night flood my mind. Thinking about the campfire, a warm feeling courses through me. Not worrying about the paparazzi or the cameras, just spending some quality time with a bunch of amazing people. It was a much-needed break from all the chaos.

Don't get me wrong, I love music as well as my band, but sometimes you need to have some time for yourself and the people important to you, the people that you care about. Standing up here, you can view the Chicago city in all it's magnificence. I stand there, admiring the view, till the streets down below starting crowding.

As soon as I get ready and have some food in my stomach, I take out my songbook and guitar. It's just 10:00, I've got a lot of time. Strumming up the guitar, I let the music take me. My fingers seem to have a mind of their own as they weave themselves through the strings, effortlessly. Pretty soon, I've got a few amazing notes. Setting down the guitar, I start working on the lyrics.

After a few hours of writing, scribbling, cutting, and whatnot, I've finally finished half the song. It has come out pretty good. But it's nowhere ready to be released. Glancing at my phone, I see that it's already 2:30. As if on cue, my stomach lets me know that it's time to eat. Fixing myself a small lunch, I head over to the living room and turn on the TV.

"Producer of the 'The Secret Agent' series, has confirmed their commitment to the movie currently in progress."

"I've got calls for many movies, but right now, my loyalty lies with 'The Secret Agent' family and crew, " said Marcus Eaton when interviewed about his recent associations with the other filmmakers.

My body freezes for a moment as his face pops up on the TV screen. No, I cannot let him have that effect on my life anymore. Not wanting to ruin a good day by listening to him, I quickly switch the channel. Putting on a random movie, I let my mind relax. At 4:00, I go and change into a black shirt and a leather jacket along with dark blue jeans. I grab my sunglasses as well, just a safety measure. Around 4:16, Zeke calls me. Getting into the car, we fall into conversation soon.

15 mins later, he pulls up at a very familiar looking cafe.

"Dàunté Cafe?" I ask him.

"Yep. It's one of the best in the city," he says, looking for a parking spot. Suddenly my mind goes back to Tris. I wonder if she is the friend he was talking about. Part of me wishes it is her, though I don't know why.

"Who is this friend that you told works here?" I ask, before getting my hopes high.

"You remember the girl who was singing when you came yesterday, Tris? Yes, she works here," he says. I nod, a smile forming on my face at the thought of seeing her again. Something about her captivates me, intrigues me. After Nita, I never gave my attention to any girl. What Nita did to me has indeed left a deep scar which, until now, felt unremovable. But now, I feel there might be a chance.

Maybe, I can go back to the person I was before Nita. Maybe, I can come out of the shell I had been hiding underneath. Maybe, the small blonde girl with striking grey eyes would be the one to break down my walls and heal my torn heart. Maybe, I go back to being myself again. Maybe......

"We all have time machines. Some take us back, they're called memories. Others take us forward, they're called dreams."

And another chapter is done. That's a pretty long chapter. Should I do longer chapters every 2 weeks or short chapters every week?? Let me know your thoughts. As I said above, my editor has gone abroad for her courses, so it might not be possible for her to review all the chapters. She already has a lot on her plate and it won't be fair for me to burden her with even more. So, If any errors missed my eye, do let me know. Lots of love 💗

BE BRAVE ♥️♥️
