Chapter 17

"... Class 301!"

Noooooooo! Why was it her class again? Why? Hana thought. She didn't want her class to go first. She didn't want to stand in front of everyone. And it turned out that due to her short height, Hana was forced to be the first row of students for their skit. She didn't like that. It meant that she had to appear enthusiastic and give some good reactions for the skit. Hana was not someone that could act and she really couldn't immerse herself into the act. She might end up looking like an idiot while everyone looked like they fitted in nicely in the skit.

Hana sighed as she sat down on the grass. It felt a little wet as she sat down. Although she didn't like sitting down on fields such as this one, she didn't have a choice when she was in the first row and everyone was sitting down without complaining.

After everyone settled down and got ready, they started performing.

In the end, the skit kind of went on smoothly and Hana felt that she had managed to look enthusiastic for the responses she was supposed to give. And, it seemed that everyone enjoyed it because there was no awkward part where her class had laughed and everyone didn't. Lucky that didn't happen otherwise it would really been very embarrassing and awkward. But honestly, Hana thought that their performance couldn't be compared to what some of the other classes did.

Class 303 had also prepared a skit just like them. But it was really much better than theirs and at least the acting wasn't awkward like some of her classmates' acting. Class 304 was even more impressive. They had put up an impressive dance performance with many of the girls in the class being dancers from the dance club. But it wasn't all. They also had a bunch of guys playing music for the dancers. It was really a great performance. Personally, Hana felt that they were sure to win the prize.

As Hana predicted, class 304 won the prize, which was a huge hamper of snacks. Like really a lot of snacks. A lot. Everyone was so envious of them. Nevertheless, everyone had a great time at the campfire, so did Hana. They were all screaming till they had no voice. Well, except for Hana of course. She was a shy kid, who didn't know the meaning of the word scream because as far as she knew, she never screamed at all, as in the kind of screaming and shouting at concerts.

Unknowingly, they had spent two hours at the campfire. The sound of thunder rumbling made everyone looked up. Droplets of rain were starting to fall from the sky. It was raining. The MC then quickly said, "Okay guys, time to go back to camp. Please follow your camp facilitators orderly!"

Everyone rushed almost at the same time, trying to get back to the camp and out of the rain as soon as possible. Hana stood up slowly, stretching her numb legs as she had been sitting for almost two hours. She then quickly followed her classmates, in case she lost track of them. They trekked back to base camp in the rain. It was getting heavier and heavier by the minute. The rain had turned from a small shower to a heavy shower and was threatening to rain down even heavier.

Once they had got back to the camp, Andrew said, "It's raining right now so we'll be sleeping in the pavilion tonight. Grab whatever you need and come back here."

Everyone went off to grab their sleeping bags and toiletries and checking that their tent was tightly closed before they went back as no one wanted their stuff to get wet.

Andrew said, "Okay, the girls and guys will be sleeping separately. Guys on the left, girls in the right."

Everyone split up, with the guys following Andrew to the other side.

Lyn took over and said, "We'll be sleeping at this corner(right corner). There isn't much space here so try to squeeze yourselves closer together."

All the girls walked around, finding a spot to sleep, mostly with their friends though. Hana ended up sleeping in between Sasha and Carrie again. Once again, her worries about sleeping surfaced, as well as Sasha's sleeping habit. But this time she didn't have to worry at all. She had fallen asleep very quickly after she had lied down. Maybe it's because it was raining, which was a good time to sleep. It might also be because she was tired after not being able to sleep properly yesterday. Hana didn't care though as long as she managed to sleep.

However, it didn't last for long though. Sasha had woken her up in the middle of the night because she had wanted to go the toilet. Seriously, why does it have to be her? Can't she ask Bernice, who was on the other side of her? Hana thought as she waited for Sasha outside the toilet. Sasha had woken her up in a rush and she had forgotten to wear her spectacles so she couldn't really see well. Plus, it was night time and she had to avoid stepping on those who were sleeping. Hana couldn't help but wonder again: Why her?

Hana quickly went back to sleep. Finally, tomorrow I'll be home. She thought. She couldn't wait to go back to her safe haven.
