Chapter 5: Flick of Fear

"Doctor Eggman! Doctor Eggman!" I burst though the door to the lab. Eggman looks up from the large bucket of scrap metal.
"Zara? Is something wrong, child?" His mustache twitched.
"Guess what I have~." I smiled brightly and hold out the blue Chaos Emerald.
Eggman's eyes widen. "Is that?" I nod my head and he stands, walking over to me.
"May I?" He asked, holding out his hand. I place the emerald in the palm of his hand. "Ah, good work my dear. Most wonderful job."
I blush at his praise. "And the best part is, he didn't even realize I had it." This made Eggman congratulate me more. The door opened and Decoe and Bocoe walked in badly dented.
"Oh my! What happened to you guys?!" I ran over to them and helped them to a seat.
"Sonic destroyed the strength bot sir." Decoe spoke first. "And we were caught in the blast."
"Another robot who has failed to work, oh what can I do?" Eggman sat down, rubbing his temples.
"Hm... I'm sorry it didn't work Doctor." I felt sorry for the man. Sonic is the cause of all of this. I wish I could help somehow... Maybe I can.
That night after everyone fell asleep, I went down the the library. I pull out a pice of paper and started to sketch. By three in the morning I was done with my draft. I laid the draft on the little desk in the room and laid down. Falling asleep almost instantly.

"Zara?" I hear my name and open my eyes. Standing by my bedside was Eggman.
"Doctor Eggman?" I sat up, rubbing my eyes.
"Your awake. I was starting to worry, you've been asleep for some time." Eggman nodded to the clock.
"12:49!" I shot out of bed. "I am so sorry Doctor, I didn't mean to sleep in."
Eggman laughed. "It's quite alright. I'm guessing you stayed up reading?" I shook my head with a smile.
"Nope, I was working on blueprints," I walk over the the desk and pick up my drawing. "Of this."
He took the blueprint and looked it over. "My my, this is genius! And all in one night." Eggman pat my head.
"I wouldn't go as far as genius, but it's decent." I shrugged.
"Can you build this?" Eggman looked down at the blueprint.
I nod. "I can try. But it, may take some time."
"Creating robots always take time." Eggman motioned me to follow him. "Come, let's see what we can do today."
I follow Eggman to the robotics laboratory, or robot lab. Once inside, Eggman allows me to browse though the available metals and steels to build the bot. I found a few that were strong. But in the end, I turn to a large bucket of scraps.
"Why are you looking though there?" Eggman asked as I pull out some metals.
"Why let this all go to waste? If we melt it down again and let it cool, we can get the materials to build the bot. But it can't be entirely made of scrap. We may have to use some other kind of unused metal or steel, for the armor." My mind raced as me and Eggman take the scraps to be melted down.
"How about you go for a run while the scraps are being melted down? You can read in the forest if you like, such a beautiful day to be wasted." Eggman smiled.
"Ok." I handed the scraps I had to him and ran outside.

Oh man I love to run! It's been about an hour and all I've done is run. I don't know if it's because of my super speed or if it's the way the wind flows though my quills. I've have said this before and I will say it again. I love running! I skid to a stop and sat down underneath a tree in the forest. Tired and out of breath I close my eyes. My lungs and legs burned, but I love it. A hour of running, none stop, is so much fun. I forgot to bring my book so I just sit there, allowing my mind to wander off into its own world. Whatever it may be. It's strange... I can't remember anything of my past up to the day Eggman found me. It bothers me to not know my past but for some reason, I feel like it would be better if I don't remember at all. What's making me feel this way?
"Some things are better forgotten." Came a voice. I open my eyes and looked around, no one was here but me. I got the sudden feeling of being watched. I stand and narrow my eyes, taking in my soundings.
"Who's there?" I growl. Nothing came for my question. Something is wrong, it's too quiet... I spin around, letting my fist go in the air. But my stalker caught my arm.
"Not bad... You sensed me near, and even though I was silent, you knew I was behind you." A black hedgehog with red stripes had a tight grip on my fist. I was staring into his deep red eyes.
"It's not very polite to sneak up on people." I try to pull my arm free, the dark hedgehog let me do so.
"When Sonic talked about a green hedgehog, I had assumed it was Scourge. But then I later learned that the hedgehog is a girl. And it just so happens that I run into you." The hedgehog's voice was calm yet creepy.
"So your a friend of Sonic?" I narrow my eyes.
"Not a friend, barley a acquaintance." He said coldly.
"Right, and you are?" I asked getting a little board.
"Shadow the Hedgehog." He stated bluntly.
I start to laugh. "Wait really? Shadow?" I couldn't help myself but laugh. Yet I don't know why I find this funny, but it is.
"Hmph." Shadow's mouth twitched. "Your name?"
"Zara." I was still laughing. Shadow stood there unamused. I leaned in the tree. "Shadow, what a odd name." I closed my eyes as I laughed.
I heard a click and I open my eyes. My laugher died quickly as I stared wide eyed at Shadow's gun that was inches from my face. Shadow's face was emotionless, but his eyes were flickering with anger. My back was to the tree. No where to run. I'm trapped.
"What's so funny about my name?" Shadow asked.
I gulped. "N-nothing..." I didn't take my eyes off the gun, I could still see Shadow smirk a little.
"No go on, tell me." The gun makes a click sound of the bullet being put in place. This sound made me paper white. "Well?"
"T-there's nothing wrong with your name. Nothing at all." I laugh nervously as Shadow places the barrel of the gun on my forehead, his finger on the trigger.
"Then why where you laughing? What was so amusing?" Shadow asked. I can tell he's enjoying this, so much right now.
"I don't know..." My voice cracked in the middle of my sentence.
Shadow smirked. "Then don't laugh." He put his gun down and turns to leave. But only to turn back and fired the gun, barley missing my face. "Don't make fun of me. Or next time, I won't miss." Without another word he was gone.
I shakily sit down. Shadow sends a terrible feeling though my body... Fear.
