I was jolted in my slumber. I shot up into sitting position, only to trip the chair I was in back. Causing me to fall onto the floor along with a stack of books.
"Zara! I'm so sorry!" Bokkun looked ready to cry. "Are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine." I got up and started to pick up the books. Bokkun helped me get everything back to its place. "Thanks for the help."
"Sorry to startle you." Bokkun looked down blushing. "Eggman wanted me to find you, since you weren't in your room."
"It's alright, Bokkun. I should have gone, to bed earlier." I laughed and stretched. "Let's go check in with the doc." Once we walk down the large hallway to the dinning area, we were greeted with Eggman's smile.
"Ah, Zara. You're awake. How did you sleep?" He asked setting the newspaper down.
"It was alright." I yawned. "Still pretty tired though."
Eggman chuckled. "I'm not surprised. You stayed up till two o'clock reading."
"So anything interesting happen why I was asleep?" I ask taking a seat.
"Well, I think I know one of your powers now." He sipped his coffee as I stared at him.
"One of my.... Powers?" I was taken aback at this. I have powers?
"Yes, I learned it when you ran from me yesterday." A wave of embarrassment washed over me.
"Er, sorry about that. I'm not too big on needles. So what's the power?" I asked.
"Super speed." He said with a smile. "Almost like Sonic. But he may be faster than you, sadly."
I blink and look up at the doctor. "Do you mind if I go for a run? To stretch my legs?" I have two reasons to do this. One, I want to see how fast I am, and two, I'm getting fidgety and need to do something.
"I don't mind, just be careful. You never know what could happen." Doctor Eggman warned.
"I'll be fine, and if I see Sonic, I'll give him a hard time." This made Eggman smile.
"Be back before sundown." He called after me as I run to the library. I was there within seconds.
After grabbing the robot building guide, I run out the door. I keep running, it feels amazing with the wind in my quills. Soon I can't even see my surroundings. I skid to a stop and look around. I was in between a forest and the plains. I sat under a tree and open my book.
When I got to chapter sixteen, I heard a voice. "Well ain't you a pretty hedgehog."
"Hu?" I look up from my book, no one was around me.
"Up here sweetheart." I tilt my head back and look up into the tree branches. Sitting on a branch was a green hedgehog, wearing glasses and a leather jacket. His blue eyes looking down at me.
"Who are you?" I ask as he jumps down.
"The names Scourge." He smiles at me.
"Hello, I'm-" I started.
"Beautiful? Yes you are." He winked at me flirtatiously.
I roll my eyes. "Not your type." I go back to reading my book. But Scourge pulled it from my hands.
"What you readin'?" I tried to grab my book, but Scourge held it out of reach. Blast him for being taller.
"Give that to me!" I growl at him and stood.
"Well aren't you feisty ." He leaned closer to me. "I like that."
I took a step away from him. "Shut up." I could feel my face heating up.
"You know, green is a really good color for you." Scourge got closer until my back was against the tree. Blast these tree's.
"You're only saying that because your green." This guy is starting to annoy me. Who does he think he is!?
"Ya know, your cute when your mad." He winked.
"Give me my book and leave me alone." I sighed frustrated.
"No." He smirked. "I will give it back when I feel like it." Now I'm steaming. But before I could do anything, something shot passed us, knocking Scourge off his feet.
"Give the girl back her book." A blue hedgehog stood over Scourge, arms crossed.
Scourge growled and got up. "How 'bout you make me, I'll do what I like."
"Suit yourself." The hedgehog punched Scourge in the jaw. Scourge stumbled back, holding his jaw.
"You will pay for that." Scourge growled and held his fist to punch the blue hedgehog.
"Oh for the love of Möbius." I grabbed Scourge's arm and threw him into the tree, knocking him out.
"Not bad." The hedgehog picked up my book, reading the title. "Your into robotics?" He asked, giving the book back.
"Well, kinda. I'm getting into it." I smiled. "Thanks for the help."
"No problem. It's what I do." He put out his hand. "I'm Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog." I stared wide eyed at him. This is Sonic? The thief, taking the Chaos Emeralds?
I fake a smile. "Hello, I'm Zara."
"It's nice to meet you, Zara. I better get going, before I'm late meeting up with my friends." Sonic took off at a high speed. Eggman was right, Sonic does have super speed.
"Time for me to get home as well." I smile to myself as I run back. "Thanks so much Sonic," I pull out a blue emerald.
"For giving me a Chaos Emerald."
