Chapter 1(2/10): 🎶Just keep trying.. Just Keep Trying..🎶 JUST.KEEP.TRYING!💢

1st P.O.V:

Ever since I ran away, I've been trying to look for a job. And it wasn't easy.. According to their rules, you had to be at least 6 or 7+ to get a job.. And that meant, ' either go home/where you came from, or keep bothering us so we can ban you! '

I'm currently 5, but even then, I have some experience of cleaning or being a servent or being anything related to that stuff! If only they could just let me get a job and get money for me to survive! I keep on trying, trying, and trying, but no one ever seems to let me in! So, I thought what any desperate dragon who wants money to survive in this cruel world would do: Do other dragons' chores and tasks in exchange for money!

Sounds pretty good, right? Well, it's not. Apparently, when you first tell people what you're doing, they tend to think of something else and make you do things they're too lazy to do when it's literally not that hard! Like feeding your pet or putting some flowers in a vase! Okay, maybe cross the ' feeding your pet ' off.... That's pretty hard to do depending on what pet you have.. But still! Those are some easy things to do!

" Hi! Excuse me? Do you need any help carrying those boxes anywhere? "

I said, asking the two dragons who're carrying boxes somewhere. The older one, who seemed to be the child's grandmother, looked much like a Sandwing with a little bit of red spots on her. The child looked more like a hybrid also, like a mixture of a Sandwing, Skywing, and a little bit of either a Seawing or Rainwing.

" Oh, no, no, dear! It's fine! We can handle it!"

The childs grandmother said, trying to sound convincing that her and her grandchild don't need any help moving the boxes.

" Grandma, you're sick, and you keep on coughing.. You could hardly do anything you used to do before you got sick, we'll need all the help we can get to move these boxes.. "

The grandmother sighed deeply before coughing and dropping the boxes she was carrying. Luckily, there wasn't anything fragile in there. Right when the grandmother fell down from coughing, both the grandchild and I immediately ran up to her, checking if she was okay..

" I'm fine, children.. And, I suppose we could use your help moving these boxes.."

The grandmother said, sighing deeply as she finally accepted the offering help. The grandchild smiled in relief and helped her grandmother up, having her sit down and rest.

" Hi, I'm Echidna! And over there is my grandmother, Amber. It's very nice to finally get some help from someone, me and my grandmother and I were too afraid to ask for some help.. But, now that you're here helping us, things around here will get done much faster now!"

" Awh, it's no problem! I'm happy to help you and your grandmother, Amber!"

I said happily, smiling as Echidna returned the smile.

" Now, let's get these boxes moving, shall we?"

" Haha, we shall!"

I said, smiling at Echidna. We started moving the boxes until they were all where they needed to be. We finished a lot quicker than Echidna had hoped, and it was sunset by the time we finished. Echidna sighed deeply from releif that there were no more boxes left to move. Echidna stretched and yawned, laughing a bit as she turned to look back at me. She placed her talons on my shoulder and a wing over my back, smiling gratefully at me.

" You're a real good kid, you know that, right?.."

Echidna said, complimenting me. I felt like I was about to cry hearing what she said, I already felt tears forming in my eyes. Like I wanted to burt out crying, like I wanted to cry so hard that it could make pools of water from all my crying.. but.. I held it back and just wiped the tears that were about to run down my face away, smiling and laughing a bit.

" Hah, thanks.. I really appreciate hearing that!"

" Say, do you have anywhere to go to?"

" Oh, no, no, I don't! I'm just here on my own.."

" Really? You seem a bit young for traveling alone.. how old are you? 8? 7? 9?"

" Hah... nope... I'm 5..."

" 5? I gotta say, that's pretty young for a dragonet traveling alone.. why don't you come and stay with me and my grandmother until you find a place to stay for the night, yeah?"

" I really appreciate that, but I don't know.. I don't wanna be a burden, you know? "

" C'mon, I insist!"

I thought for a few moments before sighing deeply, finally accepting the offer.

" Alright.. but just one night! One night, and that's it, okay?"

" Fine with me!"

Echidna said, smiling as she led me to their place, Amber following behind. Their place was pretty small, but at the same time quite big.. It's not surprising that it's big for me since I'm small.. but it's still kinda big. Like you could fit half the size of a very tall dragon! But, it looked small since it was a bit crowded. Right when we got inside, Amber went ahead to go and took a medication pill and some water, drinking the water with the pill before going to her room, laying down on her bed. I looked over at Amber a bit worried, feowning a bit before quietly talking to Echidna.

" Does Amber have to take those medication pills often..?"

" Yeah, she has to take it every day. One in the morning, one in the afternoon, another after a few hours after noon, one at sunset, and finally, one at night.. she has to take about 5 pills per day, or else her health'll get worse.."

" That's horrible!"

" Yeah, but.. she's getting better! Very.. very...slowly..."

Echidna said, trying to cheer and calm both of us. She turned around and looked her head back, her face facing towards me as she half nodded and half tilted her head, signaling me to follow her. I nodded and smiled slightly, following her to where she led me to my supposed room. Once she stopped, she let me get through and see the room. It was pretty nice, nothing to crazy but nothing to plain.

" This'll be your room for tonight, make yourself at home!"

" I'm only staying for one night.."

" Hah, I know, but still! Feel free to ask me for anything! I'll be in my room that's just right down the hallway!"

Echidna said before leaving my room, waving bye as she walked away to her room, her tail dragging on the ground as her wings were nearly touching the floor.
