The Chef and His Master (Short Story)

Ciel walked into the kitchen. It was past midnight, yet he hadn't fallen asleep. He decided maybe a midnight snack would help him. He searched through the cabinets in search of good snack, standing on a chair as he did so. Yet, eventually, he slipped off the chair and fell.

Bard pokes his head in, holding a candle. He had heard a crash and wanted to check on it. He frowned when he saw his master and set the candle on the counter, carefully helping Ciel up.

"Young Master? What're you doing up at this hour?"

"Couldn't sleep," Ciel mumbled, leaning against Bard so he wasn't swaying back and forth. "I thought a snack might help me get to bed."

Bard nodded and picked the boy up in one arm, using the other to untwist the cookie jar to give his master a cookie. He sat down in the corner of the room, setting his young lord in his lap.

Ciel snuggled into Bard's chest, nibbling on the cookie. The two made quiet small talk for about half an hour, until Ciel finally fell asleep. Bard would've carried Ciel back to his room... Had he not fallen asleep too.

In the morning, the other servants were in a panic. Neither of them had seen Bard or Ciel sense last night. It freaked Sebastian out the most, truth be told. He went to wake everyone up and two somebodies were missing.

Finny and Meyrin hurried into the kitchen, stopping and smiling a bit when they saw Bard and Ciel cuddling in the corner.

"We found 'em," Finny called quietly.

"I say we don't wake them up though," Meyrin stated.

Snake poked his head into the room. "Agreed."

"That is just adorable," Sebastian said when he and Tanaka reached the others.

Tanaka simply chuckles.
