Never Grow Up (Short Story)

Alex sat in a chair in the Kirkland-Bonnefoy household kitchen, staring out the window.

She had so many memories of her and her family here, mostly good. Such as those times her, Alfred and Matthew would run outside, jumping in puddles as it rained when they was younger.

And those times where her and Michelle teamed up and then and them and the twins had prank wars.

Even the time Uncle Allistor taught her to shoot a bow was a good memory. Even if one of the arrows she shot misfired and nearly killed her poor dad.

Even the times the whole family would simply snuggle up by the fire were times she treasured.

Those were the days. Back before Alfred left dad, before Alex was forced to move all over the place, finally staying in America. The times before the family was so... Dysfunctional.

Looking back, she wished her and her siblings hadn't grown up so fast.

Funny, Alex thought, when your a kid, you want nothing more to grow up. Then when you grow up, you regret that silly little wish.

"Big Sister?" Peter's tiny voice asked, snapping Alex out of her thought.

"What is it little bro?" Alex asked, picking the boy up and setting him in her lap.

Peter smiled a little, getting comfortable. "Just wanted to cuddle."

Alex chuckled, kissing the top of the boys head.

"Peter, I need you too do me a huge favor."

"Yeah, Big Sis?"

"Don't grow up too fast. Stay like this for as long as you can."

Peter furrowed his eyebrows in confusion but nodded. "Alright."
