Chapter 35: The End of Your Time

Today was finally the day. Your parents had come home from the states, and you were returning home. Ciel and Sebastian were heading to London with their staff to stay in the townhouse while they dealt with a drug problem. A narcotic was going around that was a combination of morphine and opium poppy. It made people happy but at an expense.

' I guess I had to go home at some point. '

You closed your bag with all of your stuff inside. Your family's carriage was waiting outside for you to take you to your manor. You looked around the bedroom, checking if you had all your things before leaving with your bag in hand. After leaving your room and descending the stairs to the first floor, you met with everyone at the door. Everyone inside the Phantomhive Manor was waiting for you at the door leading outside and to your carriage.

" Oh, I'm going to miss you, yes I am! "

Mey-Rin hugged you tightly as she was crying. Then, after pulling away, you handed her a handkerchief, and she used it to wipe her tears away. Unfortunately, though, she didn't remove her glasses from her face.

" Yeah! It's gonna be a bit borin' without ya here. "

Bard hugged you tightly to his chest. You could feel his arms squeezing you tightly.

   " A little too tight Bard. "

   " Sorry! "

Finny was next, and you wrapped his arms around your neck and hugged you close with a sad smile on his face.

" You were always so kind to me. Thank you. "

" Of course, Finny. Curse anyone who's ever mean to you. "

Tanaka was next, and before his energy depleted, he patted your head with a smile and wished safe travels for you. Sebastian and Ciel were the last two people to say goodbye. Both men guided you through the front doors, and Sebastian said goodbye at the top of the stairs.

" It has been a pleasure, my lady. Please travel safely, and visit us again. "

Sebastian leaned down and kissed your cheek, causing your face to turn slightly red. The butler chuckled, seeing your face turn colors, but stood straight and gestured to the steps. Ciel glared at his butler but took your hand, guiding you down the stairs. The man was already dressed and ready to travel to London, but he wanted to see you off first. You walked down the steps with Ciel but stopped walking when you were standing in front of your coach's door. You let go of Ciel's hand and placed your bag inside before turning to Ciel, smiling softly at him.

   " It is time. "

" Yes, it is. I shall write to you often, and you are always welcome to come back to my manor. You are no stranger here. "

" Thank you, Ciel. And you're always welcome to visit. I know you have a lot of work to do, especially now with that narcotic running around. But, my home is always open to you. "

" At least now, you won't be pulled into my charades. You can focus on taking over your father's company, for now. "

" Yeah, and when that happens, I'll have to be tied down soon. "

" Yes, we've both reached that age, haven't we? To look for marriage, or get successors for our company. When did we get this old? " Ciel said, avoiding your eyes.

" No idea. It feels like yesterday we were playing around the manor, or reading stories to each other. "

" You always liked reading me stories, for some reason, when our parents put us to bed. I can't forget how bright your smile was when you would read those children books. "

" Yes, that was some time ago. "

Ciel took your hand in his and kissed the back of your hand. Then, with his free hand, he held a letter toward you. The letter had your father's name written on the back of it, and the Phantomhive Wax Seal was placed on the opening of the envelope, closing the letter.

" Please, give this to your father upon arrival. It contains matters that I would like to discuss with him in person at a later time. "

   " Sure. "

You took the letter from Ciel and set it in your bag, remembering to give it to your father when you got home. Then, with nothing else to discuss, you decided it was time you headed off.

" Well, I suppose I will leave to return to my estate. I hope you can figure everything out with the narcotic and with. . .Angela. I sincerely hope she doesn't come around. "

" I hope she does not either. If something does happen, I will be there, to protect you. "

You nodded, slowly let go of Ciel's hand, and stepped into your carriage. Ciel kept the door open while you sat down on the plush seat.

" Y/n, there is one more thing. It is selfish, but I want to do this, before I travel further into the depths of London's underworld. "

Ciel stepped onto the pedestal that helped people climb into the carriage and leaned forward. Ciel wouldn't sit inside with you; instead, he would stand on the foot pedestal. Ciel leaned forward and connected his lips with yours in a sweet kiss. You were shocked that Ciel was being so bold with the kiss; you wouldn't think he would kiss you in front of others or at all. However, the kiss was short, and Ciel pulled his lips off yours before caressing your rosy cheek with his gloved hand. A smile played on Ciel's lips, and his eye showed no malice but care.

" Be safe. If you ever need me, I will come. "

Ciel climbed out of the carriage and shut the door gently, waving the coachmen to start driving. You were still shocked but turned to look through the back window at the manor. The smaller the estate got, the less you could see of Sebastian and Ciel.

You relaxed against the plush seat and watched as the estate got smaller until you couldn't see it anymore. The journey to your estate was smooth, and once you were at your estate, your parents ran outside to greet you. They pulled you in a hug, laughing.

   " We missed you! "

" How, was our pumpkin? "

   " Fine! I'm fine, but you're smothering me! "

Your parents finally let go, and your father took your bag, then led you inside.

" Before I forget, Ciel asked me to give you this letter. "

You took your bag from your father and took the letter out. You handed the letter to your father, who opened it immediately. His eyes moved across the page quickly, and your mother stood beside him, reading over the words Ciel had written. You watched as your parent's calm faces turned. Your mother's smile seemed to widen, and she started to jump and clap her hands. However, your father's eyes widened, and his face paled.

" When I said 'Don't cause too much trouble for Earl Phantomhive' I was not expecting this! "

   " Oh, I'm so excited! It's finally happened! It's finally happening! "

" Umm. . .what is it exactly? " You asked, curious about the letter.

Your father covered his eyes and sat down on one of the sofas nearby as the letter fell from his hand. Your mother grabbed your shoulders and hugged you tightly before going to her husband and hugging him.

" Dear, this is amazing! Don't be so glum! "

" But I don't want to lose my only child! "

" Dear, your father is just going through the emotions a father does, when a man, is interested in his daughter. " Your mother said, turning toward you.

   " I am. . .still a little lost. "

" Sweetheart, Earl Ciel Phatomhive has just asked us for our blessing! He wants to marry you! "

Your mother hugged you once more before she started screaming again about preparations and writing letters. You were shocked by the proposal, and your heart was beating rapidly in your chest. To say you knew what to do at that moment was a complete lie. You had no idea, what to do, but your mother did while your father was having a moment on the couch.

But then London burned in a fire, and Ciel Phatomhive was nowhere to be seen.
