Chapter 3: Meeting the Aunt

You walked through the halls looking at the paintings hanging from the walls. They were beautiful, but you would notice small holes in the wallpaper that looked like a mouse could climb through.

   " Bloody hell. . .this wire's done for. "

You followed the voice and turned around the corner in the hall. Finny, Mey-Rin, and Bard sitting on the floor in front of a hole in the floorboards.

" Oh, not the rats again! " Mey-Rin said, looking at wire that and been chewed on.

" This is getting ridiculous, I mean I head they'd been plaguing London lately, but this is far out of the city. "

" Is everything alright? " You asked, approaching the three.

The three turned their heads towards you and slowly stood up.

   " It's Y/n, yes it is! "

" It's nothing to worry our head over. It's just rats. It seems they've found their way out of the city and here to the countryside. " Bard said, speaking without letting his cigarette fall from his lips.

" Yes, they have been around. My servants sent me a letter saying that they found a few in my home. "

Your eyes focused on a small mouse that jumped out of the hole in the floor. You pointed to the mouse, and the three freaked out a little. Finny was the first to react, grabbing a statue of a man's head and shoulders before throwing it at the hole, giving Bard and Mey-Rin no time to move.

   " I've got you rat! "

The ground shook when the statue landed on the hole. You leaned against the wall to keep your balance, and when the dust cleared, there was a larger hole in the floor, but there was no rat anywhere to be seen.

" Looks like it got away. . .hee hee. " Finny laughed.

" What're you laughing for?! Are you trying to kill us, too, you idiot?! "

" Won't Sebastian and Ciel also get mad at you for making a hole in the floor? " You questioned.

The three turned to you with a dread look on their faces. You felt yourself sweat a bit from their looks.

" Quick! Finny, get some stuff to repair the floor! We have to get this fixed before Sebastia sees! " Bard shouted.

Finny nodded and started to run and get supplies before the same mouse appeared in front of him.

   " Look there's another one! "

" Catch it! " Bard shouted at Finny.

Finny jumped at the rat but missed, catching it. The rat jumped over Finny's hands and towards Mey-Rin, who creamed and took a mousetrap out of her skirt pocket. She tried to use the trap, but the rat moved around Mey-Rin. You crouched down on the floor and held your hand out for the rat to climb on your hand. The rat, smelling no hostility towards you, jumped on your hand. The mouse was small and fit in your hand perfectly.

" Y/n caught the rat! " Bard shouted, pointing towards your hand.

" Please calm down. It's so tiny; it's just a mouse, not a rat. " You said, smiling at the trio.

You walked to the window and opened it. You leaned out of the window and placed the mouse on the grass outside. The mouse scurried off, not looking back at the manor. You leaned back into the hallway ad shut the window.

" It's not so hard to catch one. " You said, looking towards the three.

" Says you! The thing practically trusted you. "

" Just, put it outside, instead of killing it, and it'll come towards you. Understand the mouse's perspective. "

" Right. . .Sorry about callin' ya Y/n earlier and not Lady Y/n. It was my mistake. " Bard continued, placing his hand on his neck.

" Don't worry about it, Bard. You can call me whatever you'd like. "

Bard's smile was bright, and he held his thumbs up to you. You smiled and noticed an approaching figure coming from behind the trio. Sebastian's red eyes looked at the back of their heads before looking at the hole in the floor.

" What on earth happened here? "

The trio jumped from Sebastian's voice and turned to face him, scared. Sebastian only sighed, walked past the three terrified workers, and approached you.

" My lady, my master asks that you join him for some tea with a few of our guests. "

" Sure, lead the way Sebastian. "

Sebastian nodded and turned around, passing the trio again. He stopped beside them and glared at them. They shrieked before running off, leaving you alone with Sebastian. You followed Sebastian silently, wondering what guests you would be meeting. After walking down the hall and taking a few turns, Sebastian stopped at a pair of doors and opened them. Inside, Ciel sat on an oversized couch, while a woman in red sat on a single sitting couch, and a man sat on a large sofa with a lady on his lap.

" Y/n, thank you for joining us. Please come sit. " Ciel said, looking at you.

You nodded and walked towards the oversized couch that Ciel sat on. Instead of sitting with someone else, you sat beside him, feeling comfortable beside him.

" Well, who is this pretty little thing? " The woman in red asked, gesturing to you with a bright smile.

Behind the woman, there was a butler that stood awkwardly. His hair was in a ponytail with a red bow, and his glasses sat on his nose, while his green eyes were focused on you. The woman in red had red hair that grew longer from back to front. Her lips, eyes, hat, and outfit were all red.

" Madam Red, Lau, this is Lady Y/n. She is the daughter of F/n. He is out of the country for some time and asked that I provide her a home, while he is away. "

" Hello it's nice to meet you all. "

" My my, so polite. " Lau said from his seat.

Lau wore a long green kimono-like outfit with a sash wrapped around his belt. Sitting on his lap was a woman with black hair put in buns on the top of her head but also wrapped into a thin ponytail falling on her back. A pink flower rested in her hair, and her dress was short, revealing her legs. Lau's voice was low, and you compared his volume and tone to a person hiding secrets from someone.

" Your tea. We have a special Darjeeling blend to offer from Fortnum and Mason today. " Sebastian said, pouring the tea into a few china cups.

Sebastian handed the teacups to everyone, and you took a sip, enjoying the sweet flavor.

" Smells lovely. . .Tea can be excellent when made well. " Lau replied while the girl on his lap took a sip.

Madam Red's butler moved behind Sebastian and watched him elegantly pour the tea for Madam Red.

" Grell. " The woman and red called.

" Yes, my lady? " The butler asked, going stiff.

" Learn something from Sebastian. Just look at him. . .I mean. . .this physique. . . "

You shuddered to see the woman caress Sebastian's ass repeatedly. Sebastian also shivered, and you could see the teacup on the small china dish he held fly off before landing back on.

" You should quit this country job and come work for me in the city! "

Ciel raised his fist to his face and coughed, grabbing everyone's attention.

   " Madam Red. . . "

" Oh, sorry! I couldn't help it. . .He looked like he needed a physical, just a doctor's habit. " She said, releasing the butler.

" So, do you believe the drug trafficker you're after was one of your guests today? " Lau asked, standing from his seat.

' That's right, there's been a recent increase in drug trafficking lately. I guess Ciel is finding a way to stop it, since Lau is asking him this. '

   " Perhaps. "

" Why not leave the extermination to Lau? A rat knows best where a rat's nest is, doesn't he? " Madam Red said, leaning forward.

Lau moved behind Ciel on the couch and leaned over to be closer to Ciel. His hand was on the top of Ciel's dark blue/black hair.

" I'm but a tame guinea pig dedicated to my lord. If the earl instructs me not to act I'm bound to do nothing. "

Instantly, Madam Red stood from her seat, grabbed Ciel from the couch, and hugged his taller body against her own.

" Watch it! You'd best keep your filthy paws off my darling nephew! "

" You wound me! I would never paw at him in his own home, dear Madam. " Lau said nonchalantly.

" Are you saying you would if you were elsewhere?! Careful. You're on thin ice now, sir! " Madam Red yelled, letting go of Ciel.

Ciel landed on the ground as Madam Red moved towards Lau, pointing her gloved finger at him. You set your tea down on the table in front of you and walked over to Ciel. You held your hand towards the earl, hoping he would take it. Ciel did, he raised his hand, and you helped him stand from the ground.

   " Thank you. "

You nodded, and Ciel let go of your hand. With the tilt of his head, he motioned towards the doors to the room, and he started making his way to leave through the doors. You followed him, leaving the Aunt to defend her nephew.

   " Master? "

" You'd better be! I hope you understand how protective I am of my dear nephew! "

" The rats are here. " Ciel whispered to himself.

You heard what he said and looked at him questioningly. He didn't acknowledge you, meaning he didn't know you listened to what he said. He started walking through the hall, and you walked beside him. He placed his hand on his forehead, feeling it throb.

" How bad is the headache? " You asked.

   " It's a slight throb, but nothing more. "

   " It's there! "

   " And here too! "

You stopped beside Ciel, seeing Finny, Mey-Rin, and Bard running around after two mice. Mey-Rin had more traps, while bard had a ladle. Finny wore a catsuit with a real cat in his hands, but the cat attacked him instead, chewing at the top of the suit.

" Master? Today's dessert is a dish pie prepared with fresh apples and raisins. It will be ready soon. Would you like to eat with your guests? " Sebastian asked, walking behind you and Ciel.

Ciel turned to his butler lowering his hand from his head.

" Bring it to my study. I'm done here. "

   " Certainly my lord. "

Ciel continued to walk, but he turned to look at you when you didn't follow him.

' Am I supposed to follow you? '

" Well? Are you coming or not? "

   " I guess so? "

You walked up to Ciel and continued to follow him down the hall. You glanced once more at the trio's attempt to catch the mice but couldn't. Your eyes widened seeing Sebastian, as quick as lightning, grab the mice and put them in a net.

' How was he so fast?! '

Ciel opened the door to his study and gestured for you to walk in first. You did so, and Ciel walked in, shutting the door behind himself.

" Finally, some peace and quiet. Y/n, would you mind reading--"

Ciel's words were caught off, and you turned to figure out why he stopped talking, but when you turned, a hand appeared behind you and covered your mouth with a  cloth. You were pressed against someone, and your vision soon became hazy. Ciel had the same fate as you, and you both fell unconscious.
