Chapter 10: Fairytale
Peg was laying in her bed, flipping boredly through the channels on TV. She knew she needed to rest, but so far she had nothing to do. Everything was so hard to do now. Reading, drawing, all of it suddenly felt impossible.
Why couldn't I have broken my leg instead? she thought. Then she realized she'd only be able to do less with a broken leg. Peg sighed and laid her head back in her pillow. She was still a bit upset that she got hurt on her first patrol, but at least she knew no one was mad at her.
Peg closed her eyes and was about to try and sleep when she heard what sounded like a gust of wind. She quickly looked up and glanced around her room, jumping slightly when she saw Pietro standing there, holding one of her books.
"Huh, I didn't know you liked The Hunger Games," he said. Peg just stared at him.
"Why is Sonic the Hedgehog standing in my room?" she asked. Pietro chuckled.
"I figured you might be bored, and who better to keep you company than me?" he said. Peg rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, I don't need Speedy Gonzalez watching over me," she said with a smirk.
"Oh, alright then," Pietro said, speeding off. Peg quickly looked up.
Wow... well, not like I wanted him around anyways. Peg laid her head back down, but after a few seconds Pietro was at her side again.
"Eh, but I don't really wanna leave," he said.
"What, so you plan to bother me all day?" Peg asked.
"Bother? Of course not," Pietro said. "I just couldnt help but notice you were all alone."
"How? Were you spying on me?" Peg asked. "Oh, wait. You were running through the halls or something and just happened to peek into my room. Correct?"
Pietro chuckled. "You're smart," he said.
"I had to drag three kids my age across the country. Not like I'm dumb," Peg said. Pietro smiled, and Peg found herself smiling back.
"S-So, uh, what are you doing?" Pietro asked.
"Uh, just trying to find something to watch," Peg said. "But everything kinda sucks."
"We could watch a movie," Pietro suggested. "I mean- If you want to. We have a lot of movies."
"Really?" Peg asked. "A-Alright."
She started to sit up as Pietro asked. "What kind of movies do you like?"
"Uh, I'm not sure," Peg said with a shrug. "I used to really like Jurassic Park."
"You know they made more sequels to that, right?" Pietro asked.
"They- They what?" Peg asked.
"Yeah, we could watch that if you want," Pietro said
"Yes please!" said Peg, smiling like a puppy who just got a treat. Pietro chuckled.
"Alright. I'll be right back," he said before sonicing out of her room again.
Peg sighed. He seemed nice. Though, a bit too nice, she thought in the back of her mind.
There was nothing wrong with the way Pietro was acting. He just didn't want her to be bored, which was okay. So why does it feel like something else?
Peg shook her head. She'd only known Pietro for a month, and he seemed to enjoy having her as a friend. Why would he suddenly start acting weird?
Pietro soon appeared next to her again with a DVD and a bowl of popcorn.
"How.. how did you manage to keep the popcorn in the bowl while running?" Peg asked.
"I have my ways," Pietro said with a smirk, handing her the bowl.
"Your ways are weird," Peg said. Pietro chuckled.
"Whatever you say, Princessa," he said. Peg rolled her eyes.
"Where did you even get that from? Princessa?" Peg smirked as she mocked his accent.
"I think the nickname suits you," Pietro said.
"Oh, you poor soul," Peg sighed. "Incase you havent noticed, I'm no princess."
"You are too me," Pietro said softly. Peg just shook her head. She still couldnt help but feel that Pietro was acting different. This is how he always is. He's been calling me Princessa for a while now. He's just the same as any other day, Peg told herself.
Peg was so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't realized Pietro had already started the movie. He zipped right next to her again, grinning at her. Peg just smiled back at him.
I enjoy his company, and he enjoys mine, she thought, sitting back. He's just my friend. I dont see why he would start treating me any different.

Breeze followed after Katie, his hood over his head, as they walked through the city.
"You know you dont have to hide your face all the time," Katie said.
"Try saying that when you've been hunted down by scientists for 4 years," Breeze mumbled. Katie just sighed.
"Whoever those people were, they cant get you now," she said softly. "You should know. Loki would stab the hell out of them before they could touch you." Breeze smiled at that. "Besides, we wont let anything happen to you either," Katie said. "Trust me, Hydra's done enough weird shit. I'm kinda sick of all these experiments already."
"I just wouldn't want any of you getting hurt because of them," Breeze said quietly.
"Well, getting hurt is kinda one of the main things about saving the world," Katie said with a shrug. "No one can just fight in a huge battle and leave completely unscathed."
"I guess you're right," Breeze said. "Where are we going, anyways?"
"You'll see," Katie said simply. "This way." She grabbed Breeze's hand, walking into an alleyway.
"Uh, I dont like this," Breeze said, looking around.
"Calm down. It's the shortest way there," Katie said. Breeze just sighed as he followed after her.
Thankfully, the two weren't in the alleyway that long. They soon came to a pretty old looking building.
"You.. brought me to a haunted house?" Breeze asked.
"What? This is much better than a haunted house!" Katie said. "Come on." She dragged Breeze into the building. The floor creaked slightly beneath them as they walked in.
The first thing Breeze saw when he looked around was a bunch of bookshelves. "Oh. A haunted library. That's much better," he said.
"Its not haunted," Katie said. "Trust me. I would know by now." She walked over to one of the book shelves, looking through one of the old books that was left there.
"So... what exactly is this place?" Breeze asked.
"An old abandoned library. What else would it be?" Katie said. Breeze just rolled his eyes. "I used to come here all the time," Katie said. "Then they shut the place down but, it's just been sitting here. So, I like to hang out here sometimes."
"D-Dont you worry about getting caught?" Breeze asked.
"Ah, I doubt anyone remembers this place," Katie said. "We're fine."
Breeze sighed softly, slowly walking further into the library. The cobwebs and slightly broken ceiling unnerved him, so he tried to ignore them. He walked over to one of the bookshelves, looking through the dusty books.
"Why.. why did you bring me here?" Breeze asked softly.
"Well, I liked to come here whenever I'm feeling stressed or angry, or I just need to calm down," Katie said. "I figured you might like that too."
Breese smiled. "I guess this a pretty calming place," he said. "Besides all the spider webs."
Katie giggled. "Dont worry. The spiders dont do anything," she said.
"Wait, th-there are actual spiders?" Breeze asked. Katie smiled.
"You'll be fine," she said. "You better not tell anyone else about this place."
"I wont. Promise," Breeze said.
Katie giggled. "I'm kidding," she said. "Just dont tell Tony. He'll probably buy the place and turn it into some private Avengers library or something." Breeze chuckled softly.
"I wouldnt doubt that," he said.
"Yeah, this place is mine," Katie said. "The only other people who know about it are the ones I want to know about it."
"That's fair," Breeze said. He continued looking at the books, often having to wipe the dust off them.
"Find anything you like?" Katie asked. When she looked over, Breeze already had a small stack of books in his hands.
"Uh, yeah," he said. Katie giggled.
"Here, you can put them in my bag," she said, placing her bag on one of the tables.
"Thanks," Breeze said, starting to put the books away. "You know, this would be a nice place to hang out with the others. M-My friends I mean. We have to have this little spot in our hometown that we decorated. And we'd go there every day to spend time with each other."
"You guys are like siblings to each other, aren't you?" Katie asked.
"Yeah, basically," Breeze said with a shrug. "I mean, I dont have any real siblings so they work out pretty well." Katie just laughed softly. "Do you have any siblings?" Breeze asked.
Katie was silent for a moment. She seemed to have this sad smile on her face. "That's not important," she said quietly. "What matters is that you guys have a stronger bond than anyone I've ever seen. Keep it that way."
"Well, we're not perfect," Breeze said softly. "We used to fight a lot, but, at least we got through it."
Katie smiled. "You're better than me, kid," she said.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Breeze asked. Katie just shook her head.
"Nothing," she said. "You ready to go?"
"Uh, y-yeah," Breeze said. Katie nodded and grabbed her bag of books, starting to walk out the door.
Breeze followed her. He glanced back at the library before leaving.
The place was broken and possibly unstable, but in way, peaceful.
Kind of like me.
