Snow White
True to his word, Law dragged you back into the infirmary and had you stuck in bed the rest of the day. But not before chasing you to the rec room with him yelling about how he wasn't a pervert. You bet your ass there were people in there who heard him loud and clear. He basically sabotaged himself and that alone made suffering through the storm worth it.
He thought the bed rest would be decent punishment for you, shooting you dirty looks and smirks as he worked at the desk in the infirmary on who knows what. Little did he know that in your attempt to not die that day, you'd tired yourself out and fell asleep rather quickly. He was left to grumble to himself while you slept like a baby under warm sheets.
The next few days you were sore as hell though, making the trip on the next island a real pain. At least it was a short visit. The log pose was set after a half day and supplies were restocked just as fast. Law was sure to make you work hard on menial tasks as you healed up. You considered it his revenge for the crew calling him a pervert when they thought he wasn't nearby or listening.
After a few days he calmed down, returning to his usual cool attitude and was less of a slave driver. He even "happened" to find a couple more books for you. You were almost positive he bought them when the ship docked. Things went back to normal, with him hovering around you instead of other crew members. You wanted to say he did it because he was as curious as you were about your forgotten memories but he never pried, never asked if you remembered anything else past the one with the celestial dragon.
A few crew mates had made passing comments about how much time he spent around you, with plenty of suggestive nudges and eyebrow wiggles but you ignored them. While you could admit Law was very good looking and you enjoyed his company despite the occasional bickering, there was no way he took interest in you like that. And even if he did, relationships were the last thing on your mind right now.
As the days turned into weeks you became increasingly frustrated with the locket around your neck. You were about ready to chuck the damn thing into the ocean. But you still felt a weird attachment to it. No matter how much not being able to solve it irritated you to no end, you still found yourself fiddling with it constantly for comfort. Opening it may be impossible for all you knew but keeping it around made you feel like you'd remember something more soon enough. Hopefully something good.
"(Y/n)-ya, we're ready, let's go." Law said.
It had been a few weeks since the last island and the men were excited to step on solid ground. You weren't. There was tons of snow covering the winter island and you knew it'd be freezing.
"I don't have a coat." You stared out the porthole you usually sat under in the rec room, watching the snow fall.
"I should have one that fits you, it's about time to get you away from those books for a while." You stared at him from your perch, taking in his full length black coat. It almost covered down his legs entirely.
"By fits I hope you mean it's not as long as that one. I need a coat, not a dress."
"It's shorter, it'll fit right. Come on." A small smile curled his lips up slightly as you fell in step beside him.
He led you to his room. You'd never been in there before, no one besides him had as far as you knew. You hesitated to go in but he pushed a palm between your shoulder blades, sending you in ahead of him. He'd been a little touchier since you'd fallen overboard. There were still days when you'd rather he wasn't, but it was getting easier to deal with.
"Give me a second to find it." He made his way to a closet and pushed around the shirts and jackets in it to find the coat.
While he was busy, you allowed yourself to check out his room. It was much bigger than yours, with a queen size bed set right dead center against the back wall with nightstands, a dresser, and a bookshelf with a couple chairs nearby. There was another door off to the side that must have led to his own private bath. It'd be strange if you had one and he didn't after all. As expected, everything was pretty tidy. He kept the ship and his workspace in the infirmary clean so it made sense his room was equally well kept.
"Here it is." Law threw the coat at you.
You gladly took it and put it on. He was right, it fit great coming from him. The sleeves were a bit too long, going past your fingertips. But the bottom hem hit around your knees, covering enough without hitting the ground like his current one would if you tried it on.
"Okay, it fits pretty decent." You wrapped the front around your frame and snuggled into it. It was comfy as well.
"I should have an old pair of gloves in one of the pockets. I wore them when I was younger so they should fit alright too."
You felt around the inner pockets of the coat after realizing there were none on the outside and found the mentioned gloves. "It's like you knew I'd need this stuff."
"The island you went shopping on didn't have anything for the cold. I thought we'd run into this problem eventually." He led you back out, closing the door behind him to keep from prying eyes.
Once outside you were hit with a wall of cold air and your breath formed little clouds with each exhale. The beach you were at quickly gave way to a dense forest, the trees were covered in snow and too thick to see far through.
"It's completely untamed here. No towns or cities on this island." Law said. "That means no shopping but I'm sure there's plenty of things to do here."
"Are you sure? It's pretty quiet."
"In my experience, the quiet islands have some of the most interesting secrets." He smiled and jumped down. You followed suit, instantly regretting it when you dropped into thigh deep snow. Law was roughly a foot taller than you so it wasn't as deep for him.
He laughed as you gasped and almost fell. "What's the matter, never been in snow before?"
"Not that I can remember, no." You straightened out, only to stumble back when some of the cold, wet stuff hit your face.
Law laughed harder as you noticed Shachi doubled over behind a nearby tree, the obvious culprit. "Consider this your introduction to it then."
You grabbed a handful of the snow and packed it tight. "You planned this!"
Law ducked as you threw the snowball at his head. It sailed over him and hit an unsuspecting Jean Bart instead. It was hard to tell if he was pissed about being covered in snow or if he was just making his usual face. You were relieved for a split second when you realized it was the latter, until he threw an even bigger snowball right back at you. You rolled out of the way to avoid it, which wasn't all that effective since you were now covered in snow.
As soon as you poked your head back up, it turned into a giant free for all. Crew members came out of hiding, throwing snow at each other, gleeful shrieks and laughter filled the air each time someone took a hit or dodged perfectly. Nothing like a bunch of dangerous pirates getting into a snowball fight. You loved it.
You kept low, using the deep snow as cover to reach the tree line for defense and somehow making it without a single person noticing you. Once behind a tree with a great view of everyone else's positions, you packed a few snowballs and sent them flying, each one hitting their target either in the back of the head or right in their face. You threw one hard enough at Penguin to knock him off his feet.
Before anyone could pinpoint where you were, you ducked back down and moved to a new spot to rinse and repeat. Soon they stopped fighting each other with the sole purpose of taking you down. Then you realized you hadn't seen your captain since he dodged your first attack. He wasn't with the rest of the crew which meant.....
"Looking for me?" His smooth voice cut through the sounds of the crew searching for you, sending chills down your spine. He clamped a gloved hand over your mouth before you could get out so much as a squeak. "What do you say we really mess with them?"
He was close enough you could see and feel the puffs of air that left his mouth. His eyes held the mischievous glint that you'd seen before and the tale tell signs of a smirk started to form. Snow flakes fell and clung to the locks of black hair that refused to stay put under his hat. He looked good framed in snow.
You pulled his fingers away from your mouth. "What's your plan?"
Law had you circle back around the crew. He would have done it himself but you were smaller and therefore harder to spot. It wasn't easy since it meant leaving the cover of the trees. He was able to keep their attention though, continuing with your tactics of throwing a few snowballs and then changing position. Once you'd get right in front of the ship, you'd stockpile and then both of you would tear into them from both sides. Simple and effective.
After a few minutes you were ready to go. A giggle left you as you loaded up an arm full of the snowy ammunition and started chucking them, completely throwing off the crew. As you caught their attention, Law joined in from the other side and they were at your mercy. Eventually you made eye contact with Bepo and hurled a snowball in his mouth as he tried to let those around him know where you were, effectively cutting him off. It was short lived though, he threw one back at you and soon more of the crew had spotted you.
You abandoned you spot, tucking and rolling as you threw more snowballs at anyone who so much as looked at you. It turned into an all out war zone as half the crew targeted you and the other half was still floundering to find Law. While everyone else was getting hit left and right, the only snow that covered you was from your own attempts to dodge others. For someone who didn't remember if they could even fight, you were doing damn good.
All good things must come to an end though. Somehow Jean Bart got behind you, grabbing you by the scruff and lifting you off the ground. His usual bared teeth look twisted into a grin as he tossed you face first into the snow in front of the rest of the crew. You flipped around and squealed with laughter as you were covered in snow and everyone cheered around you.
"I give, I give!" You surrendered and they settled down to giggles and pants, everyone trying to catch their breath.
"I can't believe you had everyone fooled (Y/n)." Penguin bent over, leaning his hands on his knees.
"You guys are too easy." You smiled up at him.
"Coming from the one who got caught." Bart rumbled.
"Hey I kicked ass for a while there." You rolled flat on your back, puffs of air leaving your chapped lips.
"You sure did." Law crouched down behind your head, making you tilt your chin up to look at him. "It'll be interesting to see you fight with moves like that."
"Do I get to start sparring now?" You felt excitement bubble out of you.
"Not right now, but yes. We'll start you off tomorrow I'm thinking." He gave you a lazy smile, unintentionally making your heart race. The feeling was new and foreign to you, but not entirely unwelcome.
You were glad it was cold, it gave color to your cheeks that helped hide the growing blush. "Sounds like a plan." You got to your feet and Law followed suit.
"Did anyone else notice that Captain and (Y/n) are matching?" Shachi asked.
Law's coat was black with yellow spots near the bottom and so was yours. The only difference was his also had the ship's Jolly Roger on it while yours didn't. Your captain had his charming smile on, telling you he knew from the get go.
"Your style hasn't changed much, has it?"
"What can I say, I know what I like." He shrugged. "It suits you too."
There was no hiding the blush now. The best you could do was pull the coat collar up and hope no one would say anything.
"Ah (Y/n), are you okay? Your face is red." Bepo was just being a concerned friend but you wish he wasn't at this time.
"It looks like our sassy (Y/n)-ya is a little modest when it comes to compliments, who would have known?" Law took off his hat and placed it on your head. It was a bit too big, falling into your eyes so you had to push the bill up to see.
"You're picking on me." You pouted, not having an actual comeback for once.
"I'm in the mood for a warm drink, what do you say?" He ignored you comment, walking backwards towards the ship.
You were getting pretty cold now that you thought about it. "I could go for that."
"We'll check out around the island, see if there's anything noteworthy." Shachi said, pushing some of the crew further inland.
"We will? But there's noth-ouch!" Penguin winced as Bart smacked the back of his head.
"We'll be back later this evening." Bart said.
"O-okay?" You weren't sure why they were so keen on leaving you alone with the Captain. "We'll see you guys later!" You waved goodbye and joined Law.
"Coffee?" He flashed you a smile.
"Coffee." You giggled.
