Sharing Clothes Sucks

The rest of the time spent in the infirmary passed painfully slow. Law stayed civil with you when he'd check up on you but that was about it. You would have died from boredom if it wasn't for some of the crew bringing you books or stopping by to keep you company if they weren't busy.

One of the most annoying things about everything was your lack of clothes. The only other woman on the ship, Ikkaku, tried to find things to fit you but her clothes were too big. She was taller than you and bustier, so everything just hung off of you. You had better luck borrowing things from Penguin. Of course he loved it. It made you wish for your own wardrobe.

You were excited to have gotten the okay from Law to be able to be up and moving again. At least until he led you to the kitchen and handed you a toothbrush. You looked at the toothbrush and back at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Um, thanks?"

"There's a bucket over there for water." He grinned widely and you felt your heart drop. "I want you to clean the floor with that. Have it done by noon."

"I'm assuming you're still annoyed about that argument?"

"Not annoyed, just proving a point." He sauntered off as you seethed.

You finally had the chance to get up and move around only to be stuck on your hands and knees with a bucket of soapy water, cleaning the floors with a fucking toothbrush. As much as it made you angry, it did make you think twice about what came out your mouth around him, even if you still felt you were right.

A few people came in while you worked. But each time they'd see you cursing and shooting glares in their direction they'd leave, not keen on irritating you more. Overall, the ship was kept clean, but the kitchen floors must get dirty fast. By the time you finished you felt grimy and the floor had turned a whole shade lighter. It's like all the dirt transferred to you instead.

The kitchen smelled faintly of soap and the floors were now pristine. If Law didn't like it you'd lose your shit. It was probably the cleanest area in the ship now. Might as well go find him now, you finished with a bit of time to spare and hopefully he'd leave you alone once he decided the job was done well enough.

The problem was, even though you'd been living here for a couple weeks, you hadn't had the chance to explore and had no idea where anything was. Your best option was to go back to the infirmary and see if he was there by chance. You padded around the ship, wishing for a pair of boots or something to keep your feet warm.

The infirmary was empty unfortunately, with no signs of him stepping foot in it since that morning. You could try looking for someone and see if they knew where he'd be but you weren't sure where anyone worked. Wandering was your best option, you were bound to run into someone along the way and it gave you a chance to figure out the layout of the ship as well.

Moseying around the ship, you were able to figure out were most things were. The kitchen and dining room were connected, all the living quarters were close to the infirmary along with the shared bathrooms. Down a floor was were you started finding people doing maintenance on the submarine and weapons. You were happy to find Penguin and Shachi bickering back and forth over some machinery.

"Hey guys." You chirped.

"Hey (N/n), what did you do to my clothes?" Penguin asked, noticing how dirty you were.

"I got put to work doing some cleaning." You tugged at the hem of the shirt. "Where am I supposed to find the captain? I wanted to let him know I finished."

"He's probably with Bepo at the helm. I can take you to them." He volunteered. "We can stop by the living quarters and get you a change of clothes while we're at it."

"I'd appreciate that." Nothing sounded better than a fresh change of clothes.

Penguin talked your ear off as you followed him back up to the living quarters. He liked you a lot and made no effort to hide it. You listened as he kept talking, going from mentioning parts of the ship layout to help you find your way around to all the different stuff you could do to help out, mentioning that they could always use another set of hands in the kitchen.

When you reached the (men's?) rooms you hesitated to follow Penguin any further, not sure if it was a place you wanted to be.

"You can come in." Penguin grinned. "I promise we're not a bunch of dirty men."

If he says so. You peeked in and sure enough, it was surprisingly well kept. The walls were lined with bunks, some neatly made while a few others looked like someone rolled out of bed and left it as it was. Besides that, there was nothing questionable lying about. There were a few dressers between the bunks, Penguin led you to one in the middle of the room and picked through it, finding you something else to wear.

"These should fit you a little better." He said triumphantly. "They should be good enough to go into town at least."

"Town? Are we supposed to be reaching an island soon?" You took the clothes from him.

"Yeah, in an hour or so actually, we gotta restock on supplies. We'll have to see about getting you some stuff too."

"That'd be nice." You were ready to have clothes that fit.

"We would've gotten you your own stuff sooner but we were pretty far from the nearest island."

"It's no big deal, I've made it work this long."

"Did you, uh, want to change now? I can leave for a minute." He blushed and scratched his cheek.

"Is someone going to walk in if I do?"

"No, I can keep them out." He shook his head and backed out to the door. "Just come on out when you're done."

The door closed behind him and you changed quickly. He may have said he'd keep people out but there was always the chance he'd decide to peep or someone could still push their way in. The shirt was cute, it had a penguin face on it right in the middle. It fit better than some of his other shirts did. The pants were a bit loose around the waist and entirely too long, you had to roll them up so they wouldn't get stepped on.

The one thing you were more ready to get than anything else was underclothes. Ikkaku had you covered, literally, on panties. You weren't happy to have to share but you didn't want to borrow a man's clothes without wearing any, so it was the lesser of two evils. But as for bras, you couldn't fill hers even if you tried. You'd been going without one this entire time and it sucked.

Penguin was waiting right by the door for you. "All set to go see the captain?" He asked as he glanced at your frame. You were pretty sure he took a solid second to check out your chest but didn't say anything. It was hard to accuse someone of ogling something when you couldn't see their eyes.

"Yep. I wanna get this done and check out the island."

"It's supposed to be a spring one~" Penguin sang.

"I could go for some sun." You giggled. Two weeks in the submarine had you craving it.

You and Penguin got to the top floor where Law and Bepo were supposed to be, alight with chatter still.

"What are you two doing?" Law questioned, leaving the room you were about to enter.

"I was looking for you and needed some help finding my way around here." You chirped, in a much better mood than before.

"Whatever, I was going to find you anyway. We'll be at an island soon, I need you to be ready to go."

"Already am."

Law eyed you, his gaze stopping at your feet. "Right. We need to get you shoes."

"Among other things." You clasped your hands behind your back and tottered back and forth.

"Fine, give me one second." He disappeared back in the room temporarily, reappearing with a pad of paper and a pencil. Bepo followed this time and peered over his captains shoulder as he wrote something down. "Bepo-ya, here's what I need for medical supplies. Penguin-ya, you and the crew pick up what's on this list along with whatever else we may need." He gave them each a list and faced Bepo. "Get the crew ready. I'll be joining (Y/n)-ya to make sure she doesn't spend too much."

"I just need a few changes of clothes and some shoes, nothing fancy." You huffed.

"You're a woman, it's never that simple." Law brushed past you and headed down the stairs.

All prior thoughts of watching what you say around him flew out the window with that comment. "Don't be a sexist ass Law!" You stomped after him.

Bepo and Penguin cringed, sharing worried glances as they hung back to avoid the impending argument.
