A Piece of the Puzzle

Greedy hands touched every part of your body they could reach. You shivered in disgust but it only encouraged him. You hated this, being the favorite meant you spent many nights with the Celestial Dragon as his personal bed warmer. Tonight he was even handsier than usual, groping your breasts, butt, and anything else he could reach. The first time he ever touched you was painful. He wasn't big or impressive by any means, but he took your virginity and wasn't kind about it.

It didn't hurt anymore. Most of the time at least. But as soon as he started you couldn't wait for him to be done. Nothing was worse than knowing you had to put up with being someone's personal toy. There was no real foreplay. Just him touching you until he got it up before pushing you to your knees and shoving himself down your throat.

There was no mercy, no being gentle. A lustful grin spread across his thin lips as he ravaged your mouth. You fought the urge to gag but having such a vile man do this to you made it hard. You managed to make it work though, turning your focus to how you'd someday escape him instead. It was only a matter of time and when you did get free of your chains, he'd be the first person you'd kill.

These dreams were going to be a pain if they were all like this, about your time as a slave. At least you knew a little more about yourself, though knowing that you lost your virginity to a self centered slimeball wasn't your idea of a fun fact. It explained why you didn't like other people touching you at least. Thinking about how he touched you made you feel the same way you did when anyone so much as even brushed against you.

You let your mind wander to your time with Law yesterday to forget about the dream. He sat with you in the rec room, both of you had hot cups of coffee in hand to warm up from the game outside. For some reason, when he chose to sit by you, you felt nervous butterflies wreak havoc in your belly. You weren't attracted to him before, but recently you started noticing more charming small details about him.

His constant smirk used to annoy you but now you loved watching his mouth turn up to the expression. You noticed he had a habit of drumming his fingers along whatever he had in his hands when he was thinking. Yesterday, it was the coffee cup. He would tap his tattooed fingers across it's surface right before saying something in his usual calm, cool way.

It could've been because of the crew's weird behavior, but you were very aware of every movement he made, every time he leaned a little closer or brushed a limb against you. You were lucky he couldn't hear your heart pounding away in your chest. But despite your nerves, the alone time with Law was great. You talked about nothing in particular, just whatever came to mind and not a single argument came up. That was rare considering how much you two liked to bicker over simple things. The rest of the crew came back that evening, as promised. They found you two laughing together in the same spot that you'd gotten comfortable in when you'd first gotten back to the ship.

It was a good, easy day for you. Today wasn't going to be the same though. Law said you were supposed to spar with someone today for practice. If you were lucky and he was right about you being a fighter before losing your memories, your body should remember how to move. Muscle memory is a wonderful thing.

You wasted no time rolling out of bed and getting dressed, grabbing the coat Law gave you as well. It smelled strongly of coffee, just like he usually did. The scent seemed to permiate everything of his. It was something else you were only recently noticing.

The man himself was already out on the ship's deck. You found him after eating a quick breakfast, tapping his sword against his shoulder as he waited for you with Bepo beside him. "(Y/n)-ya, you slept in." His tone said he was annoyed but his smile said otherwise. He was happy to see you.

"I had another dream, I guess it kept me longer."

"Similar to the last?" His smile dropped.

"Kinda. It involved the same person." You glanced at Bepo. He knew you had the first dream but didn't have the details. You were very fond of the bear but didn't want him knowing anything else. Not yet at least.

"We can talk about it later." Law noticed the look you gave the navigator. You didn't want to talk about the details of this particular dream with him, but now wasn't the time to argue. You didn't want to ruin the chance for fighting practice after you'd been trying to get some in for so long. So, you simply nodded in response, fully intending on avoiding the topic when it came back up.

"So how are we going to do this?" You stretched your arms behind your back, making your spine and other joints pop and release their morning stiffness.

"Bepo is quite skilled in hand to hand combat. The bruises and wounds you had on your legs and knuckles when you first joined suggested you should be as well. You can spend the morning sparring with him and we'll see how good you are."

"I can't guarantee I'll be as good as you think I should be." You warned him.

"Just like your memories it'll take time for your fighting skills to come back. I have no doubts that you'll be effective though." He gave you a confident smirk.

"If you say so." You grinned back and turned your attention to Bepo. "Don't go too easy on me, I gotta learn somehow."

Bepo looked afraid to hurt you. "Okay. Sorry if I'm too rough." He'd gotten better about apologizing less over the small things but still had the occasional slip up.

You watched him carefully and nodded, giving him the go ahead to start. Law made himself at home, sitting on the railing and watched Bepo lunge at you. It was easy enough to side step but the point was to fight back. With his back now to you, you kicked behind his knees to buckle them, only for him to twist around and aim a kick at your head. He was speeding up.

You felt the air rush over your head as you ducked and stepped in closer to punch him in the stomach. You didn't expect the hit to connect, but it did. A grunt left Bepo as he took the full brunt of it. His hand wrapped around yours, keeping you from creating any distance, and he swept a leg under your feet, knocking you on your back. He planned on knocking you prone.

The air was pushed from your lungs with the impact to the ground and you struggled to get your hands up by your head. With a bit of force, you shoved yourself up, kicking him right under the chin as he was preparing another attack. You flipped back on to your feet and slid a bit across the deck, breath creating thick white clouds in the air from the effort.

Bepo was easy to deal with in the snowball fight yesterday. Now that he was actually trying, it was a different story. And from what you can tell, he was still gauging your abilities and scaling his strength accordingly. With him basically being Law's second in command, you expected he'd be a tough fight and he was proving you right.

As you continued to fight with him, the movements did start to feel better. They came to you faster and you felt more confident in your ability to hit him, even if he was still testing you. You were so focused on him that you didn't notice some of the other crew members come on deck to watch you two spar. It wasn't until they cheered when you kicked Bepo in the back, making him stumble forward, that you were more conscious of your surroundings.

You paused long enough to see everyone's excited faces drop as Bepo punched you right in the face, sending you across the deck from the force of it.

"Ah! Sorry!" He panicked and ran to your side. "I didn't mean to hit you that hard!"

"It's fine." You took a second to let your head clear, a little dizzy from the impact. "I should've been paying better attention." There was the taste of blood on your lips and when you touched a hand to them it came away with a bit of the red stuff.

"Captain, she's bleeding." Bepo called Law over as if a cut lip was a big deal.

"I'm fine, really." You got to your feet and fumbled to touch your locket past your coat, making sure it was still in place after all the moving around.

Law came over anyway, hoping down from his perch to investigate the damage. "Let me see." You sighed at the unnecessary attention as he placed a finger under your chin and tilted your head around to get a better look. "You'll be....fine."

His brows furrowed together at the sudden whirring and click that came from inside your coat. You were just as confused. There was only one thing that could have possibly made that noise. You pulled up the locket by it's chain and felt a surge of joy as you saw it was slightly ajar. The damn thing was finally open.

"That's a little morbid, don't you think?" Law was eyeing the blood you had wiped across the heart shaped locket's silvery surface. Without meaning to, you'd figured out how to get it working.

"That's rich coming from you." You tried joking with him but felt shaky as you opened it up the rest of the way, curious and uncertain of what it had inside that was so important it needed to be hidden away.

It seems past you had an interesting way of hiding mundane things. All it had was two small pictures, one set in each half. On the left was one of you and a young boy. He had snow white short cropped hair and bright (e/c) eyes, just like yours. Both of you were smiling happily, your arms were wrapped around him and your chin rested on his shoulder. You couldn't miss the pang you felt when you looked at him.

The right picture was of an older man. He looked a little rough around the edges but kind. His long brown hair was tied back into a ponytail and he looked overdue for a shave with some serious five o'clock shadow. His chocolate brown eyes reflected a look of amusement as he stared boldly back at the camera.

You didn't notice Law peering over your shoulder, almost mimicking how you and the boy were positioned in the first photo, minus the fact he wasn't actually touching you in any way. You jumped when his hat bumped against your head, your face turning a deep shade of red when your eyes met his disturbingly close ones.

"C-can I help you?" You mentally cursed yourself for stuttering.

"You must know these people." He smirked after taking in your flustered state. "Maybe your even related to him." He pointed to the white haired boy. "His eyes match yours at least."

"I can't think with you leaning over my shoulder like that." To better hide that he made you blush, you put a hand over his face and pushed him away, feigning annoyance instead.

"Why's that?" He didn't fall for it. "Too close?"

"I'm ignoring you now." You took one last look at the photos before snapping the locket closed and wiping the blood off of it.

"Hold on." Law took it from your grasp, ignoring the crew that was sticking around to watch what was going down between the two of you and your own flustered protests.

With one hand still around the locket, he used the other to unsheathe his sword enough to reveal a bit of the blade and nick his finger across it. Without a word he worried at the cut until a bead of blood formed and pressed his finger against the necklace. He tugged at it, watching intently for it to open again while pulling you closer at the same time.

You were going to remind him that the chain was still around your neck but thought it better to not interrupt his intense concentration. A minute passed and nothing happened.

"I don't think anything is going to happen Captain." You gently pulled his fingers away from it and he frowned at you.

"Your right, it seems to only work for you. It's interesting at the very least. I've never seen anything like it..."

"Must be one of a kind." You agreed and cleaned his blood off of it with the coat sleeve.

"Okay." Law said, glancing at the still nearby Bepo. "I think we'll call that good for the day, we can get more practice in for you another time. As for the rest of you, there's still work to be done before we head out tomorrow, finish it."

Everyone wandered back inside to finish chores and take inventory. You were about to do the same, thinking you could help make sure the kitchens rations was in order but a hand on your shoulder stopped you.

"Hold on (Y/n)-ya, we still have something to talk about. Walk with me."
