The Truth Hurts, Doesn't It?

"M-Mackenzie, what did you buy all those balloons for?"

"I bought them so we can throw a quinceanera, Juno..."

"O-Oh, what's a quinceanera-"

"I was being sarcastic, Juno!"

I yelled as I stomped on the breaks, the car screeching to a halt as we finally made it to the church.
Juno shudders as he watches me get out of the car, slamming the door before he said anything else.
Juno then follows my lead, walking in silence as some people in the front of the church watched us in puzzlement.
Before we went inside, I take out the balloons one by one and fill them up with the holy water that was in the gold basin.
Juno watches in confusion as I put about ten holy water-filled balloons under my shirt.

"Mackenzie, what are you going to do with those balloons?"

"I'm going to do some cleansing, my dear Oppa..."

"O-Oppa?"

"Yep...so maybe you should stay out here..."

"No...please tell me what you're going to do, Mackenzie."

"...I'm going to teach your ex a lesson...so please, trust me on this, okay?"

I didn't know if Juno would agree with me about this whole ex-girlfriend thing but if I didn't teach her a lesson about hurting other people, who will?
Juno takes a deep breath before exhaling, then slowly nods his head, giving me his permission.
I sadly smile to him before turning serious, then I gently hold his hand as I dragged him inside the church, everyone turning their heads towards us as we made our way down the aisle.

"Which one is she?"

I whispered in Juno's ear, causing him to shudder. He quietly points to the girl sitting in the front row, who was paying more attention to the priest who was reading a sentence from the Bible.

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins..."

"Juno, wait here, I'm going to have a word with your ex..."

"...Okay Mackenzie but please, don't over do it..."

Juno begs as he then stays still, watching me as I approach the girl, holding one water balloon in my hand while I used the other to tap on her shoulder. When she turns to me with a bewildered expression, I took the chance and pop the balloon above her head without hesitation, the holy water now dripping down her face and hair.
She screams before standing up from her seat, staring at me with anger.

"W-What the heck?! What was that for?!"

"You know damn well what that was for...also, please forgive me Father for cursing in the church..."

I apologized to the priest, who just shrugged his shoulders, not understanding what was going on.
I then point to Juno, who was now blushing with embarrassment.

"That boy over there...do you remember him?"

The girl squints her eyes at him before turning back to me.

"Umm...no?"

I took out another balloon and this time, threw it at her face, causing water to now drip down her face and ruin her make up.
She stares at me with wide eyes, her mouth wide open as she was lost for words.
I then exasperatedly sigh as I comb my fingers through my brown hair.

"You're lying...you're lying and you know it...now tell me, do you remember him?"

"...Yes...that's Juno...my ex-boyfriend from the past..."

"Yes, that's correct and do you remember what you did to him...?"

"...I loved him..."

Another water balloon hits her, right in the middle of her chest, causing her to shiver from the cold liquid that was now soaking her dress.
I was losing my patience, but I couldn't start a fight with her, especially in a sacred place.
I glance at Juno, who was just standing there, staring at me with surprise.
Juno...how could she hurt someone as innocent as you?

"You didn't...you didn't love him...you hurt him...you hurt him when he loved you so much, why did you do that?"

"...Because...because he was too clingy..."

"OH BULL! BULL!"

Everyone gasped as they all watched me shout at her, while Juno stood there, shocked.
This was the first time Juno has seen me this angry before...in fact, even I have never been this angry at someone before.
I take deep breaths before continuing.

"Juno is not a doll that should be mistreated by you whenever you want! Juno has emotions, he has feelings just like you and I! And you hurt him...you hurt him and because of that, he's afraid, he's afraid of being too clingy when really, he's just showing his love for you..."

"...I'm sorry..."

I shake my head as I slowly back away from her, my stomach dropping.

"Don't apologize to me...apologize to the one you hurt..."

She stares at Juno for a second before looking down at her feet, avoiding everyone's gaze.
All I can do was stand there and just stare at her in silence, my anger now slowly vanishing and replaced with sadness.

"The truth hurts, doesn't it...?"

"..."

"A woman who hurts her own lover is not a real woman...If you ever hurt anyone else like that again...then I hope that God have mercy on your soul..."

"..."

"...Let's go, Juno..."

I whispered to him as I walked past him, leaving the church as I
heard the crowd whisper to each other.
After me and Juno get in the car, we didn't say a word to each other, just drove back home in silence...as I held his hand tightly.

[Later that night]

"Mackenzie? You okay? I made you some Yukaejang, in case you were hungry..."

Juno claimed as he walks into my room, placing the steaming soup on my bedside drawer as he plops down on the end of my bed, staring at me with sadness.
I just stared up at the ceiling, wondering if Thanos snapped his fingers during the day in Wakanda, shouldn't it have been night in New York when Fury disappeared?
I'm pretty sure the filmmakers forgot that a thing called time zones exist...
Juno pokes my cheek, waking me up from my thoughts.

"Mackenzie?"

"Huh? Oh, Juno...hey..."

"Are you okay? You've been out of it all day ever since..."

"...Yeah...Juno, listen...I'm sorry I caused this whole situation and made you embarrassed...it's just...it angered me so much, hearing about your ex hurting you whenever you showed her your love...it just doesn't make any sense to me why someone would do that to someone so kind and warm-hearted..."

"...No, Mackenzie, honestly...I'm honored that you did that for me..."

"...Yeah..."

"Mackenzie, thank you..."

"...No need to thank me, Juno...really."

Juno softly smiles as he then gets off the bed and was about to walk out of the room until I stopped him.

"Wait."

"Hm? Yes Mackenzie?"

"Where are you going?"

"Oh! Well it's bedtime right? I'm going to sleep on the couch..."

"Juno...you...you can sleep in my bed from now on..."

Juno blushes as he stares at me with wide eyes, then smiles as he rushes towards me and hugs me, accidentally pushing me down on the bed.
I start to blush myself.

"J-Juno?!"

"Oh thank you Mackenzie! I've been so scared and lonely just sleeping by myself! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Juno if you don't let me go, I'll make you sleep on the couch!"

That night as Juno laid in bed next to me, softly snoring and drooling a little, I write in my diary, looking back at all the events that happened today.
I sigh as I closed my diary and stare up at the ceiling, thinking to myself why Juno would be mistreated like that back in his past...it also made me wonder what else happened in his past that I don't know of...
But that's another story for another day.
I stare at Juno and softly smile to myself as I wipe the leftover drool from his lips, happy that I got to learn one thing about him...and that was his loyalty to someone, even if they did hurt him several times.
