Into The Woods
Ah, the sun is shining~
The birds are singing~
It looks like the perfect day...
to spend on the Internet!
I lay on the couch with a bowl of chips in one hand while the other held my brand-new laptop, which I had gotten ever since the "smut incident."
I was all dressed in my comfortable t-shirt and sweatpants, not even caring about how my hair looked or even how I looked in general.
As long as my pink lips are the gun, my bright smile is the trigger and my kisses are the bullets, I can take on the world, even in my sweatpants~
I sigh with relief as I relax my muscles, logging into my computer and going straight to Google.
"Hmm what should I check first? Facebook? Tumblr? Reddit? Hmm I guess I'll choose this one. Ah, this fanart is amazing! I shall bless this drawing~"
I blow a kiss to the random person's magnificent fanart, blessing it to one day become a famous art piece in a museum.
I then check another social media site, my smile suddenly disappearing and being replaced by one of irritation.
"Oh my god, stop posting pictures of your fricking food! What a waste of food and phone battery..."
I added as I dislike the person's picture.
"Even Gordon Ramsay would be disappointed...I mean, what kind of meal is that?!"
Just then, Juno arrives home, walking into the living room with a big smile on his face. Oh no, I know that smile...he's definitely up to something.
He stands over me, placing his hands behind his back as he observes me.
"Mackenzie~ Guess what we're doing today~"
"Umm...we're going to stay here and play Call of Duty?"
"Eh? No silly! We're going to go on a trip today to the mountains in Daejeon!"
"Daejeon? Bruh, that's far!"
"Don't be silly, it's only 30 minutes from here! That's not too bad! Come on, get up! We need the exercise!"
Juno urges as he pulls me by my ankles, trying to get me off the couch. I held onto the couch for dear life though, for I wasn't in the mood to go outside. Doesn't he know how dangerous the world is?!
"N-No thanks, I'll just sit here and watch anime...why don't you go with your friends?"
"I...don't have that many friends"
"Geez...okay fine, I'll go with you on this trip..."
I sighed deeply as I hesitantly turned off my laptop. Juno smiles brightly as he jumps up and down like a little kid.
"Yay! Thank you Mackenzie! I promise you, this is going to be the best day ever!"
"This is the worst day ever!"
I screamed as Juno flinches from the scary tone of my voice.
We were now in the middle of the woods, lost and tired and hungry.
What's worse was that it was raining...and Juno had forgotten the umbrella.
Juno rubs the back of his neck as he nervously chuckles.
"T-The weather app said it wasn't going to rain today..."
"Oh wow Juno, what do you think we have Meteorologists for?!"
I countered as I tried finding the way back to where we first started.
Unfortunately, the pathways were so muddy that we couldn't even see which direction they would lead us to.
Oh yeah, did I also mention that Juno lost the map?
Yeah! He accidentally let the wind blow the map out of his hand!
As for the food, Juno accidentally fell down a hill, causing most of the food from his backpack to spill out, which explains why we were hungry.
Well, more like I was the hungry one.
Juno pokes his fingers together, trying to figure out what to say but instead, he stayed silent.
He knew how angry I was because I was stomping my shoes into the puddles, pouting.
"We're never going to find our way back! I'm cold! I'm tired! I'm hungry! All I wanted to do today was to just stay home and relax on my computer! Just like I always have been before you showed up!"
I exploded, causing Juno to stare at me with wide eyes as he slowly backed away. I suddenly realized that I had taken it too far, for Juno started crying...no, it wasn't the rain that made his face wet, it was the tears that he was now shedding, all because of me.
This was the very first argument we ever had and honestly, it hurt a lot, both me and him.
Juno stood still as he shakes, crying a little louder now.
I then approach him cautiously, reaching out to him with my shaking hand.
"J-Junnie? H-Hey...I didn't mean it...really"
"You're right...this is all my fault...it's because I'm so clumsy..."
Juno said as he sobs in between his lines, his hands clenching into fists.
"My ex always said I'm so clumsy, my bullies always said I'm so clumsy, that's probably why I won't be good enough for this world..."
"Hey hey, Juno, Juno, hey listen to me, hey..."
I responded as I then pull him into a hug, feeling the poor boy violently shake in my arms as the rain soaked both our hair and our clothes.
Being lost, starving and wet didn't matter to me anymore, now only Juno mattered to me.
I didn't want to see him cry, but because of my sudden outburst, I had made him cry...my own roommate and close friend, who has been very kind and caring and sweet to me ever since he first moved in.
I then pulled away, holding his wet and red face with both my hands.
"You are not clumsy...okay, so maybe you are sometimes but being clumsy, that's just how people can be. Not everyone can be perfect, right? I mean, even I'm not perfect myself...most of the time, I'm clumsy too. Trust me, I've always been clumsy when I used to live with my family..."
"R-Really?"
"Yes, really. I'm so clumsy that once, I fell down the stairs~"
"R-Really?!"
"Yep~ I'm so clumsy that when I was little, I used to speak in gibberish~"
"Aww..."
Juno replies as he then cracks a smile, causing me to smile in approval.
"Mhmm and once, I accidentally drew on myself with permanent marker~"
"Oh my goodness, Mackenzie, you were so bad!"
"It's because I was clumsy and because of my clumsiness, I've learned from those silly mistakes. So don't look down on yourself for being clumsy, just do what I do: blame the tables and chairs and floor~"
I giggle as I pinch his cheek, causing him to giggle along.
Just then, the rain magically stops, the sun's bright rays shining down upon us.
Was this God's way of saying thank you for helping Juno?
Either that or the weather is acting very weird today.
Juno then points towards the East direction.
"Look! There's the mountain!"
Me and Juno then walk towards the East direction and stop at a cliff, where it overlooked the whole forest area and there it was, the mountain of Daejeon standing mighty and tall in front of us.
My eyes widened at the beautiful sight as my mouth dropped open.
"Oh my god...it's so beautiful..."
"It is...it's definitely beautiful up here...but not as beautiful as you being here next to me..."
I heard Juno mumble, but I didn't clearly hear that last part.
"Hm? What was that?"
"N-Nothing! Hey! I found the path we took from before! It could lead us back! Come on!"
Juno insisted as he then takes my hand and leads me down the path we had taken before.
I blushed at the contact as I then look back at the scenery.
Maybe going outside once in awhile isn't so bad after all...you just need to learn how to love and appreciate mother nature than that of what's behind the screen.
Yes, there is no wifi in the forest, but I you will find a better connection there, I guarantee it.
