A Family Treasure (1)
My father once taught me that having a family was the greatest treasure of all...that was, before he left us.
The role of being a father wasn't just an important job for a man, it was a necessity. A father has to teach his children the rights and wrongs of the world and he has to help them get through life so then they could survive. Having a father is like having a hero of your own, a guide of your own and a best friend of your own.
Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone who would fit all those things anymore...so I had to be my own hero, I had to be my own guide, I had to be my own best friend.
That's just how life goes for someone who had lost their father.
And now Elias had to deal with the pain and suffering from the recent loss of his father...
I couldn't imagine what kind of emotional harm he was going through right now.
My guess is that he is in his parent's suite at the top of the hotel resort, along with his brother Stephano as they both stare at the lifeless body of their once happy and cheerful father as he laid there silent and motionless on the bed, the red velvet covers pulled up to his chin as his eyes were closed like he was in a deep, peaceful slumber.
Elias would be kneeling by his father's bedside, sobbing into the covers as he kept repeating his name over and over again, hoping that he would wake up, while Stephano holds his ground, quietly watching as he bit the inside of his cheek, nervously tapping his feet.
Their mother is possibly outside of the room, crying as she covered her wrinkled face with her dry hands.
...All of this was happening and all we did was explore the resort, looking for something to do to get our minds off of the situation at hand.
We pretended like nothing was happening, except for me and Juno, who were really worried and concerned for Elias while Brownie trailed by our side, whining.
Kou, who was walking ahead of us along with Val, was the first to break the silence between us.
"Okay, I know that our landlord's father just died, but what else can we do? Death is a natural thing...it cannot be stopped, no matter how hard we try to save someone from it..."
"Kou's right you guys...we can't do anything about it, all we could do now is just wait until Mr. V needs us for emotional support..."
"Yeah, yeah I know...but it just...sucks. Bad. One day, you're smiling with that certain someone and then the next thing you know...they're just...gone. Gone in just a snap of the finger."
"Yeah...they may be gone, but they will never be forgotten. Right, Mackenzie?"
Juno asked as he holds my hand tightly, patiently waiting for my response. I then nod as I ruffle his hair.
"Yes, right..."
"I don't like this whole tension between us, so let's try to get our minds off it, okay? We're at a sports resort, people! We should take this opportunity to relax ourselves from our personal lives! Now who wants to sword fight with me?~"
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
"Oh hell nah!"
(>_<)
"M-Mackenzie, it's Sunday..."
(^^;)
Oh right, I'm not allowed to say the H-word on Sunday.
"Oops! Sorry! I mean, oh heck no! Ew! Why you always gotta be a pervert, Kou?!"
(>_<)
"Because that's what I'm good at~"
(。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Juno then hugs me from behind, frowning at Kou while Brownie growls at him.
"You better not even TRY and steal my girl or you'll be sorry..."
"Okay okay, geez! So possessive..."
(¬д¬。)
"Oh! I know! Let's play table tennis! I'm a master at table tennis~"
(。•̀ᴗ-)✧
Val said with a wink. Kou then laughed, causing all of us to nervously stare at him.
"You? A master? Please...you're talking to the KING of table tennis~"
(* >ω<)
"Get back Meliodas! I bet that I can beat you in one single game!"
┐( ̄ヮ ̄)┌
"BET."
"BET!"
"Hey Mackenzie, let's play frisbee with Brownie! I'm sure he'll love the exercise!"
(*^^*)
"Okay Juno! We'll catch up with you guys later! Come on, Brownie!"
(*^▽^*)
"Bork bork!"
Me and Juno then leave the bickering two, walking to the beach to play frisbee with Brownie. Trust me, you don't want to be in the middle of a duel between two VERY competitive people...

"I never knew how messy the storage room was until now...I kept telling your father multiple times to clean it up, but he would always brush it off and go play gold with his friends instead..."
('∩`。)
"Damn, his storage room is even more messier than Donald Trump's hair..."
(ーー;)
"My wife cheating on me with you is even more messier than this storage room..."
(¬д¬。)
"Enough! Both of you! I hate it when you two fight like this...now I want you two to clean up this storage room and throw away any garbage that was left behind in it."
"Can I throw away Stephano?"
(눈_눈;)
"Can I throw away Elias?"
<(¬_¬<)
And that was when Mrs. V snapped.
"I'LL THROW AWAY THE BOTH OF YOU IF YOU TWO DON'T STOP FIGHTING THIS INSTANT! NOW CLEAN UP THIS MESS OR I'M GOING TO CLEAN UP A BLOODY CRIME SCENE AFTER I GET DONE WITH YOU TWO! CAPICHE?!"
щ(ಠ益ಠщ)
"Y-Yes ma'am!"
(/。\)
"Right away ma'am!"
(/。\)
Mrs. V then takes a deep breath before smiling and clapping her hands.
"Good."
(*^^*)
After Mrs. V leaves the two alone in the crowded storage room, Stephano clicks his tongue.
"Can't believe I have to skip my lunch with Roxanne to help clean this mess up with you..."
(눈_눈;)
"Let's just get this over with..."
Elias sighed as he began throwing random garbage in the bag, before finding an old dusty paper scroll on one of the bookshelves.
"Hm? What's this? To my sons Stephano and Elias...Stephano, this looks like an old letter from Father!"
"What? No way, what does it say?"
Elias then unrolls the paper before adjusting the glasses on his face.
"Dear Stephano and Elias...if you are reading this right now, then I have decided to finally tell you two that I have been keeping a very valuable artifact secret from everyone at the resort. I have hidden it until the time has come for you two to have enough intelligence and teamwork to find it...the Holy Grail."

"Your father has sent you two on a quest for the Holy Grail?"
(。・o・。)
"Yes and me and Stephano MUST locate it! The letter came with instructions on how to find it!"
"But for the Holy Grail though? I don't know...that's a very sacred relic, how did your father find it?"
Juno asked as he threw the frisbee to Brownie, who jumped and caught it with his teeth perfectly. Oh, how amazing our Brownie has become...
I awkwardly sip juice from my pineapple drink while Elias explained everything.
"I-I don't know! But this could be the real deal! Think about it! With the Holy Grail, we could become rich! I could upgrade the apartment complex! I could finally get new water pipes for everyone!"
"Or we could keep the money for ourselves~"
"Huh...?"
Uh oh, evil brother alert.
"Think about it Elias, we could keep all of that money for ourselves...we don't have to worry about taking care of that old, rusty apartment building, we could easily just demolish it and live here for the rest of our lives~"
"Eh?! Demolish the apartment complex?!"
"E-Eh? T-That's not good! W-Where would we live? Where would Kou live? Where would everyone else live?"
"Oh please, there's plenty of apartment buildings to live in! Especially in Seoul! So what do you say Elias? Are you in or out?~"
"...No..."
"Hm? No?"
"Father said in the letter that we BOTH have to work together as a team. There will be no bargaining for anything. Alright?"
"Ugh...fine."
(>_<)
"So where do we start?"
Juno asked as he hugged me, squishing both my cheeks as Brownie sat on my lap happily barking.
Elias softly smiled as he looked at the paper scroll.
"First, we need to go where a man took a bow without bowing..."
Me and Juno both gasp, for we both knew the answer to the riddle.
"Archery!"
