0.9 - True Love Isn't For Everyone
Elena was flustered, annoyed and happy with how it went with Lilac. There was no denying a small crush forming in her heart. Only problem was Stefan. She loved him, like Katherine does, but if she feels this why about someone she'll have to do the unthinkable and break up with him.
It pained her to do so, so she decided to wait and see if it was going to be a problem. Everyone felt like this sometimes so why couldn't she?. She made her way back home and scurried up to her room and went to take a nap, hopefully to have dreams about her and the inhuman vampire.
While Elena slept, Katherine was pacing and pacing and pacing around the entire house. She couldn't keep her feelings for Lilac anymore. It'd been 500 years so it's safe to say she's waited long enough. The right moment was never going to happen and she was hoping that telling Lilac about her love for her would somehow dig into her soul, find her heart, and turn the switch on.
Katherine couldn't stop drinking, smiling and pacing, all something she did when she was nervous. Lilac had no humanity, which made this more troubling for her because she could say the most hateful thing and not care.
Lilac returned from the bathroom, a confused expression on her face.
"What happened now? Stuck on ehat jacket to wear?" Lilac laughed as Katherine did nervously, knowing how many leather jackets she had.
"No, I'm perfectly fine with my jacket. But I've got to tell you something." Katherine sat on the couch, shaking slightly. She never in her entire life had to do something as terrifying as this. It made her think of the worst and that was being rejected or Lilac leaving her.
Lilac sat beside her, and for some unknown reason took Katherine's hands in her. "It can't be that bad, so calm the hell down and tell me what's going on."
She released Katherine's hands and kept her gaze on her partner in crime, well, soon to not be.
Katherine looked into Lilac's eyes, opened her mouth, and words began to flow out. She had no control over the rambling she was doing, but it was a stalling to the real reason she was so nervous.
"Katherine!" Lilac yelled and stopping her ramble. "Stop rambling and tell me the truth."
Katherine took a deep breath and let out, "iminlovewithyou."
Lilac laughed, clearly not hearing what Katherine had just said. "Say that again I didn't catch it."
Katherine sat up straight, stared deep into Lilac's eyes before saying,
"I'm in love with you."

She stared deeply into her eyes, fidgiting with her fingers waiting for an answer. Lilac's gray eyes never left hers as she swept a few strands of hair behind her ear.
After hearing what she'd just heard, being shocked was the most appropriate thing to be at the moment. Lilac cupped Katherine's face gently, giving the doppëlganger some shimmer of hope as the inhuman vampire opened her mouth.
"I shall say this once and never again. I could never love you. Unlike you I don't have my humanity. I didn't expect you to fall for me. So either drop your feelings or leave and forget about me."
Lilac's words hit Katherine like a bus. Never had she thought she'd be rejected, and so coldly at that. She held her tears back as the brunette left the room, leaving the heart broke girl alone in their house.
She cried into her hands, smudging any make up she had put on making her face a mess. Blotchy spits covered her face and constant sniffling was needed ever few moments. Her heart had broken into many pieces and as much as she wanted to leave, she couldn't.
She was too in love with her to give up. She was determined to get Lilacs humanity back. With that she cleaned herself up, fixed her face to make it look like she'd been before her meltdown and went to tell Lilac about her staying and dropping her feelings.
But what Katherine didn't realize was that Lilac was listening to Katherine's crys of pain and heartbreak. And slightly, just slightly, a part of her felt something.
Elena woke from her slumber a few hours after Katherine's break down and Lilac's piece humanity appearing. She rose from her bed to see Damon at her window seat.
"Have nice dreams?" He asked, clearly looking through her head.
"Yes. But please stop going through my head." She said as she tied her hair up into a ponytail. She was pulled to a wall and held tightly to it.
"You've got feelings for that no humanity vampire don't you!" He sneered. Elena struggled under his grip.
"Her name is Lilac and yes maybe I do, but that doesn't change the way I feel for Stefan." Elena argued, not realizing Stefan was on the other side of that wall, with flowers in his hand for no special occasion but just as a than you.
His heart had never been so broken. But he knew it wasn't her fault for feeling in such a way. He only wanted the best for her. She he entered the room, making both of them turn their head and set the flowers on the bed then walked out.
Elena's eyes pooled with tears as she pushed Damon off her and went towards the flowers.
"You knew he was here!" She screamed, pushing him over and over and gain as tears treated down her face.
"Elena." Damon said trying to stop her from the constant pushing. "Elena!" He grabbed her arms and held her close to him.
"I had no idea." He said honestly as the human girl broke down. Stefan was doing the exact same thing as he sat on his bed.
Damon left Elena to gaze at the flowers with her blurry eyes, loving each and every one. She realized that a letter was sticking to of the bundle and she picked it up and opened it.
Until the last one dies is how long I will love you.

Stefan didn't write this letter, then who did?

Lilac cleaned herself up before walking our of her room. That little slip up scared her like never before. She never had a slip up in the thousands of years she'd been inhuman. This wasn't going to happen again.
Katherine stood infront of her proud and strong, but she noticed something. Lilac looked less intimidating than usual. This made her wonder.
"I'm dropping my feelings and staying." She told her, even if it was and complete lie. Lilac only nodded before rushing out of the house.
Katherine was suspicious, but dropped it moments later. She took a bottle of borbon, turned up the music and started to dance.
Lilac went to find someone to talk to just to get her mind off of whatever the had happened. It just so happened she appeared at Elena's window. She watched as she read a letter, it was signed anonymous.
I knocked on her window and she looked over, a tear stained face but she opened the window anyways. Lilac climbed in and sat down on the window seat.
"What's got you upset." Lilac asked folding her hands. She needed something to talk about so why not Elena's problems.
"Stefan and I broke up." Elena said sadly.
"Tragic. You were my otp." Lilac joked, surprisingly making Elena laugh lightly.
"Why are you here?" She asks.
Lilac smirks at the sad girl. "To talk."
And with that the girls talked for a long time. The little piece of humanity Katherine was able to crackade Lilac feel different. But she knew by morning she'd go back to being the same. But for now she would listen to Elena, just to get her mind of that piece of humanity that made its way to her brain and into her heart.
