A Summary
Unfortunately I never got to finishing this story, but I did have the rest of it planned out. Here is a summary for those who would like to know the rest.
Fëanáro tells Nelyo he should marry Lintawen because her weaving skills remind him of Míriel, and he wants to keep Míriel's memory alive. At first, Nelyo feels awkward in the conversation, then father and son break into a fight once Nelyo has the courage to say he's not interested.
Nelyo and Lilótëa meet in the forest, and Nelyo is driven to confess his love to her. She returns his love. Lilótëa also thanks him for making her more confident. One day, Káno follows Nelyo as he goes to meet Lilótëa. When the lovers realize they're being watched, Káno swears to keep their relationship a secret. From then on, he sometimes joins the couple on their visits and gets to know Lilótëa more.
Eventually Fëanáro finds out. He summons Nelyo to his room and they have an argument greater than their fight about Lintawen. At this point Fëanáro has been occupied in crafting the Silmarils. Nelyo fears something in his father's eyes, but he can't quite explain what.
During the first kinslaying, Lilótëa is shocked at Maedhros's rage and that he is going along with the chaos his father is leading. As she says her last farewell to Elenwë, she foresees years of the Elves suffering in Middle-earth and warns her sister not to go, but Elenwë leaves with Turgon while Lilótëa stays. Lilótëa's mother dies in her daughter's arms. Weeping on the ground with blood in her hair and on her hands, Lilótëa has no faith that she would survive the strange, dangerous lands beyond her home. She even doubts her relationship with Nelyo. He is bound to an oath of killing; she could not bear to see him kill. If she travelled to Middle-earth and married him, would she be shunned and perhaps targetted for death, being the wife of Fëanáro's eldest son?
Many years pass. Lilótëa spends the First Age in Valinor, mourning Nelyo's absence. She often visits Estë and goes to the gardens of Lórien, wondering if she would marry Nelyo should he ever return.
Eventually, she dreams that Nelyo will soon die along with Káno. In the gardens of Lórien, she speaks to the Maia Olórin about her dream. She expresses her desire to find Nelyo, but is unsure whether she should. Seeing how much anguish her staying in Valinor has caused her, Olórin encourages her to go. At last, Lilótëa leaves Valinor and journeys to the unfamiliar land of Middle-earth. Very few Vanyarin elves are seen in Middle-earth, so all who see her are in awe of her beauty and elegant aura.
After a long year of searching, she is reunited with Nelyo and Káno. She calls to Nelyo just before he jumps into the flaming chasm. She encourages them to return with her to Valinor. Eventually they both agree, and they take a ship back home. Lilótëa takes Nelyo's wrist where his right hand would've been, and says she would like to be his wife. Nelyo smiles because he wasn't the one who proposed. Between the two of them, she was the first to speak of marriage.
