Dance With Me
(1week later)
(Donnie's P.O.V)
My leg had healed. Thankfully, for me, the mutagen in my body allowed my wound to repair itself a lot quicker, and after some medication and tests, I was convinced I would be fine. My brothers weren't so sure, though. Leo insisted that I stay in the lair a little while longer, until they were sure I could handle going out on patrol.
I sighed, taking off my goggles and looking at the newly welded on piece of machinery on the Shellraiser, a system that could reflect the Kraang's laser bullets and be redirected at the enemy. I heard a commotion from the other room, and hurried out to see April entering the lair.
(April's P.O.V.)
The dance last week had been fun. I had hung out with my friends and laughed through the night, but the best part? Donnie asking me out. I hadn't been able to keep a smile off my face the whole night, and walking into the lair, my eyes lit up as I saw him walk out of the Shellraiser.
"Hey, Donnie!" I exclaimed, running up to him and embracing him. Donnie smiled down at me, making my heart swell. I was the luckiest girl in the world.
(Donnie's P.O.V.)
I was the luckiest turtle in the world. April hugged me, and I grinned, looking down at her and saying shyly, "Hi, April."
She kissed me, and I felt my mind exploding with awesome feelings. I would never get used to her kiss, and I was fine with that.
"Whatcha doin'?" she asked, her crystal blue eyes staring into my brown ones. .
"Just working on the Shellraiser."
"Can I join you?"
I felt a blush creeping onto my face, and tried to conceal it. "Sure," I replied happily, walking her into the Shellraiser.
(April's P.O.V.)
It never ceased to amaze me how much of a genius Donnie was. The Shellraiser proved it. He had everything in that thing, and it could take any attack. Amazing weapons, awesome technology, and an icecream lamp! I loved hanging out in here. Donnie knelt by an open panel, and I crouched beside him, looking at the series of wires and...mirrors?
"What are those for?" I asked, pointing to the machinery.
"It's a defense mechanism," Donnie explained, "If we knew the Kraang were about to shoot, I could pull this lever-" he pointed to a joystick built into the wall, "-and these mirrors would replace the metal panels on the outside, deflecting them and preventing any major damage."
April was impressed. How did he come up with all these brilliant ideas? "Wow," she said, marveling at the contraption, "It's amazing."
(Donnie's P.O.V.)
April was so beautiful. Her eyes scanned over my new invention, blue orbs taking in every detail. Even though she didn't believe him, Donnie insisted she looked just as beautiful as ever.
"Wow," she murmured, "It's amazing."
I laughed nervously. "Thank you."
I got up, and she stood with me, exploring the rest of the Shellraiser. I went over to the radio, and turned it on, receiving only static at first. April jumped at the sudden sound, turning around and looking at me, shocked.
"Sorry," I apologized, trying to tune the radio, "Didn't mean to scare you."
April's eyes softened, and she smiled softly at me, walking over and sitting next to me, "It's alright."
I finally managed to tune the radio to a station. I grabbed a wrench as the music began to play, and started tinkering on some other parts of the vehicle. April was beside me the whole time, talking and laughing with me and occasionally handing me tools. The song switched to Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud, and I smiled faintly.
April gasped, and I looked up at her. She had a huge smile on her face, and she bolted up, racing over, and turning the song up louder. "This is my favorite song!" she exclaimed, as she began nodding her head to the rhythm.
I stood up, walking over and putting an arm around her. She leaned her head on my shoulder, gently humming.
(April's P.O.V.)
When your legs don't work like they used to before, And I can't sweep you off of your feet, Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love? Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?
I turned to Donnie, pulling him to the center of the Shellraiser. "Dance with me?" I asked.
Donnie glanced down, a blush on his face, matching the one on mine. "well, I-I don't r-really know h-how to..."
"It's easy," I insisted, taking his hands and placing them around me. His face turned as red as Raph's mask, and I smiled reassuringly, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"Just follow my steps," I instructed, and we began to circle around.
So honey now, Take me into your loving arms, Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars, Place your head on my beating heart, I'm thinking out loud, Maybe we found love right where we are.
Donnie twirled me, and I laughed, coming back into his arms. We both were smiling like crazy.
"Not bad," I teased, and Donnie smiled at me, his redness slowly beginning to fade.
(Donnie's P.O.V.)
I never thought I'd be here. I never thought, that after all this time, I would be able to dance with April, the girl of my dreams, and both of us would be this happy. I never thought that I would ever get to hold her in my arms, and make her smile at me. And yet here we were.
April began to sing softly, and my heart soared at the sound of her beautiful voice.
'"Cause honey your soul could never grow old, it's evergreen, And, baby, your smile's forever in my mind and memory," she sang, before looking up at me and blushing.
"Please don't stop," I encouraged her, and she continued.
"People fall in love in mysterious ways, Maybe it's all part of a plan, Well, I'll just keep on making the same mistakes, Hoping that you'll understand..."
I turned her around, and she harmonized with the lyrics, "That, baby, now, Take me into your loving arms, Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars, Place your head on my beating heart, Thinking out loud, Maybe we found love right where we are."
I picked April up, spinning her and then putting her back on her feet. She giggled, and I could feel my face heating up again.
"You sing amazingly," I muttered shyly.
April blushed, and we continued dancing, until the very end of the song.
"Oh, baby, we found love right where we are, And we found love right where we are," April finished, and I couldn't stand it any longer. I leaned in and kissed her, and she wrapped her arms tighter around my neck.
(April's P.O.V.)
I sighed happily into the kiss, not wanting to let go. I heard a cough escape from the entrance of the Shellraiser. Both Donnie and I turned to see an orange mask racing out of sight.
"MIKEY!" we both shouted, racing out of the Shellraiser to be confronted with all 3 of Donnie's brothers.
"Sooo..." Raph started, "When were you gonna tell us that you 2 were going out?!"
Leo elbowed him, "Raph!"
Donnie rubbed the back of his neck nervously, and I twirled some of my auburn hair around my finger. "Uhhh... at dinner tonight?"
"Sure you were," Leo replied, rolling his eyes, but he smiled at us.
"Congrats, you two!" Mikey exclaimed, running up and hugging them both, "Who knew Donnie could actually pull it off! dudes, how long has it been since he started swooning over her? I mean--"
"MIKEY!" Donnie shouted, and Mikey squeaked, racing out of the room with Donnie on his tail.
I turned to Leo and Raph. "Um," I began, "So, anyone want pizza?"
"Thought you'd never ask," Raph replied, obviously thankful for the exit out of this awkward situation. The 3 of us walked into the kitchen, while I heard screams of fright from Mikey, and shouts of anger from my boyfriend. Yep, I wouldn't trade this life for anything in the world...
Wow, that was a long chapter!
Mikey: Hey, why'd I have to get beat up at the end?!
Me: Because you're really good at breaking up moments with your weirdness.
Mikey: Tu she.
Me: Bye, my lovelies!
