Venom: Kirishima x Reader
There is MANY references within this that I AM NOT counting for reference prizes since most of them are Marvel references and since this is a crossover of course references were expected.
Also, no prior knowledge of Marvel or Venom are required to enjoy this. However, if you’d like, I focussed primarily on one scene from the 2018 film Venom. The scene where Eddie broke into the Life Foundation to get photographic evidence of the horrible symbiote experiments.
Do you know how much just one connection can set up for you? It can make or break your career be it a hero in training, a Pro Hero or just one news reporter. Have you figured it out yet? You fit into all those criteria. You are a hero in training who wants to become a pro hero but has a quirk that isn’t considered the most useful resulting in the desperate desire to gain connections for a dream of fame to become reality. So what did you do? You got on your knees and begged the biggest Pros and Agencies just for one chance at well… Anything. Any bit of help could do you millions.
Long story short… When nobody gave you a chance, you put your entire future into the hands of one man. This mission could make or break you through life or death...
You just gave the entire rundown of your life shaping mission to the one person you trusted your life in, Eijiro Kirishima. This boy has made your heart sing with complete and utter joy since the first day of freshman year in UA. He’s been there for you through thick and thin and he might just join you in death if all this goes south.
Based on how you’ve been carefully examining Kirishima’s fluid change in emotions, he seems to be most settled on mildly concerned and that doesn’t put any less strain on your heart. That was until Kirishima finally worded a response after careful consideration. “So…” Kirishima scratched the back of his neck. “What you’re telling me is… You want to break into the experimental unit of the Eightfold Cleansers, or according to you is the Life Foundation, steal some evidence, and leave?” Kirishima stared at you with this lost sense of direction, especially when you nodded to his claim. His heart began to rip apart hearing that you wanted to jump into this mission as a lone wolf, when in reality you needed all the help you can get. “(Y/n)...” Kirishima began to sigh, you began to feel his pain as well being the empathetic woman you were.
“I know enough about out the Foundation… I won’t get hurt,” you claimed but Kirishima was so rightfully aware that you were purposely holding back vital information.
“(Y/n), really, just leave the subject alone. I know what I’m talking about,” Kirishima took a firm hold of your shoulders that shook some sense into your being. However it wasn’t enough to extinguish your heavy desire for the taste of thrill.
You rested your hands on Kirishima’s. Your soft reassuring smile eased his concern if only just a little bit. “Look, Kiri, I know you and Midoriya and a few others were assigned to help figure out the mystery behind the quirk erasing drugs that have been circulating around Japan lately but I’ve figured out where the heart of it is!” Although it was strictly confidential, only Kirishima and a few other Pro Heroes and Classmates knew of the true intentions and capabilities of the Eightfold Cleansers.
That’s where a new concern had popped up. Where and how exactly did you get all this information about the Cleansers? Everybody is aware that you aren’t interning with any pro heroes and agencies right now. Unless you’ve been spying for a long while now and nobody became vigilant in the affairs.
That’s when Kirishima’s curious eyes of crimson wonder watched intensely to your shuffle and frenzied toss of papers that overflowed from the mouth of a bag that lied in the corner of your bed. “Sir Nighteye refuses to let me mentor under him within condition you see?” After a struggled search, you found the manilla envelope within your book bag that withheld information the government had been dying to get their hands on. “I did a bet with him saying that unless I can find out where the Cleansers are based, he MUST make me his apprentice just like he’s doing with Midoriya and Mirio. In which I have!” You poured out the contents of the envelope, out came a flood of printed photographs on regular printing paper.
Kirishima picked up one particular photograph, although blurry, it was a high profile organization that was home to the Pro Heroes that specialize in the field of chemistry and biology. Their purpose is to try to make the world a better place by finding cures to diseases, experiment with convicts to figure out the secrets and capabilities of their quirks, on top of all this they try to enhance quirks through the means of reconstructing DNA be it rearranging or adding in something new. “The Life Foundation is actually trying to help us, not hurt us (Y/n)...” Kirishima sighed. As much as everything sounded to be so clearly tied to one another, something didn’t sit well in his stomach.
“Are you looking over the most controversial fact here?” You wore a cocky smirk, only to dig out a different sheet of paper littered with black inked words from top to bottom. “Notice how they have the right to experiment on convicts? Do we ever hear what happens to the convicts let alone who exactly they are?” Before Kirishima could comment, he skimmed your sheet of paper that had a total of fifty names, all convicts, and most were deceased as of recently: When the blackmarket drugs began to circulate around the country a few weeks prior. “I think I found out where the drugs are coming from, if not, I at the very least have a lead.”
“I can’t look past the facts,” Kirishima lied the sheet of convicts down upon the bed wearing a gentle smile. “When are you going to the Life Foundation?”
“Tonight actually,” you admit with ease.
“Then I’m going with!” Kirishima jumped the shark. “Before you say no, what if you come into trouble? Your quirk can’t help you out.”
“I mean it could,” you frowned, Kirishima was right. “Being able to take on pain and pass it on without feeling it is useful but not in a stealth mission.”
“Then it’s settled, we’re going!”
Later that night, you talked Nighteye into pulling a few strings and somehow managed to talk a scientist at the Life Foundation into escorting Kirishima and yourself into the experimental unit of the laboratory at the first stroke of midnight when just about nobody was there. Nighteye wouldn’t have went so out of his way to make a scientist risk his own job for some dirt on the Foundation if his Future Sight quirk didn’t foretell this mission as a success. It’ll only be a success if you make it one, therefore your life was on the line as much as just about everyone else.
The scientist spy, Miss Hange Zoe, ushered Kirishima and yourself into a glass domed elevator not so far off from the main entrance of the foundation. Respecting her need to keep everything on the down low, you were quick to sneak within the elevator all to hide behind the control panel, Kirishima to follow. That spy, her full moon glasses were fogged over and forehead dripping with a glossy sweat that had the consistency of molasses. “No need to be so scared,” you reassured Hange but it seemed to help very little.
“I’m just glad someone is finally stepping in,” she replied after making sure the floor was clear only to press a button on the elevator labeled ‘B1.’ The glass doors came to a slow close, the thick atmosphere seemed to diminish as well. “Now, kids, go in and take as many pictures as you need. Just don’t touch anything! Everything in the lab is touch sensitive or can seriously harm you.”
“Drugs that can permanently erase your quirk…” Kirishima scratched his chin. “I think we know better than to touch anything.”
“Oh it’s more than just quirk deteriorating substances-” Hange jolted in surprise to the dull ‘ping’ of the elevator reaching its destination. “Just don’t touch anything and be quick!” She shoved Kirishima and yourself out from the elevator before stepping out herself to log into a nearby computer where a series of screens played video feeds of all the cameras in the area. Right now, she’s your lifeline, one step out of line and she can either warn you to get out or double cross and turn the two of you in.
“Well,” you snapped a quick photo of Kirishima with your phone just for fun. The flash stunned him for a second. “You heard her; get as many photos as we can and get out.”
“But of what exactly?” Kirishima frowned as the two of you came to a crossroads. The left hallway led to a series of containment units and touch screens before each unit assumed to hold convicts for experimentation. The left hallway, rather it was small but it led to a room full of chemistry equipment and small handguns.
You decided for the best. “I couldn’t help but notice you neglected to bring your phone,” Kirishima’s entire outfit lacked pockets and it was very foolish of him to just wear a tank top and sweatpants to a facility that specializes in poison and drug containment. “We can both take a look at whatever is in those cages first and then the chemistry unit. If we can prove the unusual punishment of convicts then that’ll be enough for hero invention!”
Kirishima shrugged agreeing with you since most options were limited to say the least. “Good luck to the both of us!” Kirishima scooped you up into a mini hug. It was sudden, and you didn’t expect it in the slightest.
“Kirishima?” You hummed in confusion. The precious time was slipping away.
Kirishima loosened his hold on the hug, stepping away with a dust of pink to his cheeks. “Just in case one of us gets caught. I’d rather give a proper farewell. Especially after Bakugou got kidnapped last summer, I like let people know how much I care.”
Your heart just shook with awe. “None of us are gonna get caught Shark Boy. I mean it when I say so and expect the same from you,” you leaned over and pecked Kirishima on the cheek whereas he refused to take it for granted and cherished the moment before all others. “Now, do your job and I’ll do mine. Later if this mission is a success we can hit a gas station or something for chocolate cake.”
Of course Kirishima understood the benefits of chocolate cake. It had your name all over it, and Kirishima’s was nowhere to be found. “You’re the only one here who likes chocolate,” Kirishima chuckled through his razor teeth.
“Yeah,” you admit. “Chocolate cake for me. All the beef jerky for you.”
“You got yourself a deal!” Kirishima gave a thumbs up as he followed you into the testing portion of the lab.
With Kirishima close upon your tail, you came upon the first glass vault. There was a see through touchpad beside the door came to life displaying a profile photo, name and information of a man in his early thirties. He looked rough, real ragged as if he hadn’t slept in forever let alone shaved because his beard was beginning to gather enough length to stand on its own from his chin. Was it wrong to say that he looked like a man to commit a crime?
“Damn I’d hate to be him!” Kirishima jolted backwards.
“Huh why?” You hummed peering within the glass cage all to see what exactly spooked Kirishima so bad. You found that said man was sprawled sprawled out upon the floor with a pile of yellow ‘goop’ to his left. Vomit maybe? It was almost neon yellow from your position in nearly pitch black writing. It was disturbing yes, but you’ve see worst.
“I know criminals are criminals but they don’t deserve to suffer like this…” You growled slightly and held out your phone before you, pressing the blinking red button to finally begin collection of evidence. “This convict is Eddie Brock… Deceased. Appears to have vomited a foreign substance likely his cause of death,” you carried onto the next cage in response. There was yet another man who had suffered the same fate as Eddie, except this time the mystery substance was a near electric blue. “Convict: Scott Lang. He died… Probably in the same way.”
It wasn’t all that terrifying walking past cages that treated prisoners even less than convicts to be called animals. Kirishima felt the exact opposite but you lived to get the scoop for news reporters and the Pro Heroes so that they had the rights to march in and own the place. The one thing that did begin to get to you was the number of bodies that added up. Every cage you passed had someone deceased or approaching the edge of extinction. Luckily you recognized nobody here, but the thought that their lives could’ve been saved ate away at you…
“I’m nearing the end,” you took a breath of relief. Based on what you could survey in the darkest of lighting, only three cages left and you’re free to go. That’s when you flashed Kirishima a relieved smile meanwhile he looked mostly terrified with sweat dripping down his forehead despite his bandana being tied to prevent them. “After all this stress the chocolate cake you’re buying me is calling my name-” The nearest cage was bashed against taking you both without warning to come.
“Help me!” A girl with a mess of blonde hair screeched as she pressed her face to the glass.
“Gah!” Kirishima jolted back again to hide behind you.
“I’ve always envied death but I don’t want to go like this!” The blonde cried. She kept crying with no sign of stopping. How much pain is she in?
Something about her felt familiar, you’ve definitely see her before today. So upon first examination to recognize the gal, you noticed something else entirely. Her veins were visible beneath the skin, they were black like tar and her amber eyes blanketed in fear. “Is that… Is that Toga?” You frowned in realization. She’s a member of the League of Villains. She’s like a masochist, any pain would tickle her libido. But… She’s just suffering!
“Despite how much I hate you,” you gulped the lump in your throat. “I’m not just a reporter but a hero and it’s my duty to help those in need!” And so you grabbed the first thing in sight, Kirishima, and threw him against the glass door.
“Wha-What do you expect me to do!?” He squawked.
“Punch it Kiri! Save her!” You punched the air as a demonstration.
“F-Fine!” Kirishima’s entire body hardened just before he punched the glass at full force. There came a shower of glass in chunks. That wasn’t just any glass, plexiglass more like it and somehow Kirishima broke it.
However that wasn’t the end of it… Toga took a cheap shot and tackled you on the spot upon the glass littered floor, where her battered hands found your throat. “Thanks beautiful,” she cackled with a hint of sinister intention. “I won’t try to kill you or your boyfriend again…” Toga’s eyes rolled back into her head as this black sludge forced its way out from her mouth to your own before she collapsed atop you. What had you doing a double take was what just happened. You didn’t feel that sludge enter your mouth, yet your eyes captured the moment in full. Was it a hallucination?
“(Y/n)!” Kirishima threw Toga from off your being and forced you to your feet. He was saying something else but the blaring sirens and flashing lights of the lab blinded your senses with expertise. Kirishima found the calls of no help, picking you up and running for the exit of the lab with a hot trail of security after him.
“I can run!” You whined, punching your lover in the face whereas he dropped you on the spot. It came as an even bigger surprise once you ran ahead of Kirishima without even breaking a sweat. You didn’t pay mind to it, at first, being the adrenaline clouded everything but your desire to escape. However it still stuck out like a sore thumb. Kirishima was always the more athletically superior one and now you’re running as fast as Iida could with his quirk in use! Hange wasn’t at the elevator, in fact security was flooding out of it, so you made a beeline for the staircase and with one jump you scaled an entire flight of stairs with ease. With no time to lose you quite literally ran through the front doors of the Life Foundation without looking back and didn’t slow down till you were safely behind the door of your dorm at UA miles away.
Knock Knock Knock, was the sound that resounded from beyond your door. However this was hours later, three in the morning, you were once happily sleeping in bed. You highly unappreciated the disturbance, it came with a growing pain like your stomach like hunger was eating you from the inside out. Not to forget the buzzing headache tackling your skull and how you had sweat through your clothes as well as the bed sheets you slept upon.
“Oh god…” You groaned into your dampened pillow. “I think I caught something from the Foundation…”
“You better be joking!” Kirishima inviting himself within your door all to kneel down before your bed. Before you could even reply, he pressed the back of his hand to your forehead with concern. “Oh (Y/n) you’re burning up! What if you really did catch something bad? You know I’d kill myself if you died first-”
“Don’t pull a Romeo on me Sharky!” You pushed on Kirishima’s face with irritation. “I’ll be fine. If anything I’m just hungry and really hot,” you threw the covers off from your being and felt immediate relief. “Wait… Did you just get back from the Foundation?”
“Well I did make a quick stop and got you your favorite,” Kirishima held up the plastic bag he entered with. Within was a large plastic tin which contained the sweet you long dreamed of.
“You’re the best!” You reached for the bag.
“Be honest first,” Kirishima held the cake out of reach. “How sick are you? And I don’t understand how you outran me in the lab. I’ve always been faster…”
Kirishima’s puppy dog pout always made you awe. “Been training myself. Now deal with me being a winner for a change and give me the cake.”
“Fine,” Kirishima gave in and handed you the long awaited cake. “I still want you to see the nurse tomorrow just in case-”
“Let me eat my cake!!!”
