Unfair: Shinso x Reader Part 2

The medics marched onto the stadium battlefield and carried you all the way to the Nurse’s Infirmary for the woman to assess your damages. Shinso stuck with you, making sure to keep your mind under the bind of his quirk. Without it, you’d probably be dead, a heart attack upon your chest due to stress and pain of unbearable amounts. His quirk distracted you from the pain, Shinso couldn’t abandon you. Until that moment, Recovery Girl kissed your arms, yet nothing happened. Her wrinkly lips were pressed into a fine line. “Please turn off your quirk honey,” Recovery Girl asked.

Shinso were astonished. “Ya sure about that?” He asked purely concerned on if doing this was such a bright idea.

“It’s only a hunch, but I have an idea of what’s happening,” Recovery Girl replied, expecting what Shinso wanted to avoid to precisely happen. Shinso’s lavender eyes flicked to your blank lifeless ones that were under his cruel spell. He let out a pained sigh. “Release…” Shinso groaned as you began screaming bloody murder one again. He didn’t even give Recovery Girl a chance to react, putting you under the spell for another round. “What the hell is going on?” I’ve never seen such a phenomenon…

“Nothing good…” Recovery Girl frowned. “(Y/n) was trying to use an ability that her body isn’t accustomed to yet Shinso,” Shinso remembered his training sessions with Aizawa, it were better to respect his elders and allow her to explain for the sake of saving confusion. “(Y/n)’s quirk is rather tricky to use. On her first few months in school, (Y/n) came to me with the reasoning that overuse of her magma quirk left her skin dry and riddled with burns.”

“Oh… So this is a normal for her?” Shinso assumed, but that wasn’t exactly the case.

“Aizawa had warned me about (Y/n) trying to learn the ability to liquify herself into magma, it were a goal of hers as an Ultimate Move the Hero Course is required to learn,” that explanation just put all the pieces into place. You were attempting to do what your body wasn’t ready for. “Like a car, going from 10 miles per hour and flooring it to 100, (Y/n) tried to use her magma quirk at full torque injuring her body to the point it can no longer sustain the heat magma gives off… Her muscle tissue are damaged beyond repair,” Shinso cringed to the explanation. The boy remembered in his younger years when he touched a hot stove with his bare hands. The heat that scarred his flesh for years on end. Imagine that, but all over your body. No wonder why you were screaming bloody murder.

Shinso sighed, he just witnessed the fall of a hero in training. However he stuck around in the infirmary until his next round in the Tournament, making sure you could deal with the pain as long as you could. Even then, the purple haired teenager heavily considered withdrawing from the Tournament to make sure you were fine. Forget it, the only reason he didn’t withdraw was for the reason alone that this accident was your fault and could’ve easily been avoided if your mind could’ve thought further ahead to the consequences lying before you.

-----

You missed school for the entirety of the remaining week but also the week to follow. No visitors were allowed in your time of absence due to your lack of consciousness but also rigorous surgeries that unfolded the same day of the tournament that went on for days on end. You were pleased that your entire class requested to visit, being your nurse read off the names of everyone who came around but were denied. Which undoubtedly included Midoriya, Uraraka, Iida, and Todoroki of whom was a friend that came and went from the group. The rest of the class were included, as was Aizawa.

What came as a surprise was the last name read off to you and what he did, Shinso Hitoshi. The boy of whom you attempted to fight in the Tournament, getting you the medical attention needed, even went as far as to brainwash you to mask your pain instead of being left to suffer. At that moment, you knew you had to thank Shinso for his support.

Unfortunately that won’t happen unless he sees you out…

Class had long started, you came in about a half an hour late, you trudged into the classroom. “Nice to see you back (Y/n),” Aizawa bowed his head seeing your return. Everyone else gasped.

“Please tell us what happened!” Momo pleaded with glossy eyes.

“You never got hurt from what we saw,” Ashido sighed.

“Everyone calm down and allow (Y/n) to explain!” Iida spoke over everyone creating a peaceful silence. Even then, you didn’t wear a smile. You had to swing your legs off to the side just to take one step forward, even then, your legs were buzzing with pain despite the large metal brace keeping your legs straight and supported. Just taking one step forward took about five seconds to complete. Your arms were another story, a similar brace were bound to the limbs to compress the pain your medication couldn’t mask.

“I was stupid…” You announced with a low voice, everyone gasped with a pained expression occupying their features. “I got too ahead of myself in the Tournament… Aizawa, All Might, and Recovery Girl have all told me on multiple occasions to give up on my determined ultimate move cause my body cannot handle it. They even used Deku as a prime example as to why I should give up on it,” Midoriya’s eyes flickered like an alarm. The scars on his arms told the whole story. “Well… Now I can barely walk and I can’t use my hands either,” again, Midoriya felt sick to his stomach. The doctors warned him about his quirk and any more injuries would lead to the end of his dream to become a hero.

You, admitting failure, awakened something within your class. Take warnings to heart, sometimes taking chances could lead to your end. “Not to rain on your parade,” Midoriya nearly whispered. “(Y/n) if you’re disabled, how are you still able to be in our class?”

“That's the thing… I can’t,” you sighed, bitter cold reality catching up to you. “Until Nezu can come up with an alternative for me here in UA, I’ll be here,” lots of your classmates were breaking out in tears. “The only upside to me leaving is that Nezu gave me the opportunity to choose one person from the school to take my place here in the Hero Course. But I’m not taking advantage of it cause I’m allowing you all to choose one person to take it-”

“It’s your choice (Y/n),” both IIda and Aizawa spoke together in unison.

“Then…” You sighed. “Fine, I’m choosing Shinso. He nearly withdrew from the Tournament to make sure I was doing okay. It was almost a heroic sacrifice!”

“You can’t,” Aizawa regrets to inform you. “Shinso won the Tournament but declined his opportunity to be accepted into this class. He…” Aizawa soon grew unable to speak like he were uncomfortable. “Shinso accepted at first… Until he were informed he’d be taking your place in class. Therefore, the Tournament was for nothing.”

“I wasn’t told that…” You awed. “Please can I talk with Shinso. Like, right now?”

Aizawa shook his head no. “You’d be disrupting his class-”

“But he isn’t in the right class,” you growled. “Shinso deserves to be in this class. The only reason why he isn’t is because everyone says his quirk is better suited for a villain,” Aizawa was fuming with anger, yet he calmed down knowing your statements were far from false.

“I can’t disagree but It’d be unprofessional of me to allow my students to disrupt his class,” your teacher practically said that he’d allow you to visit, yet he had rules to follow.

You smirked. “Who said I’m technically your student?”

That comment brought a wicked smile upon your elder’s. “That’s right… I’m not your teacher anymore. It was a pleasure teaching you for the past year (Y/n).”

“And You’re the best teacher I’ve ever had!” You attempted to run out, completely forgetting that you were disabled and the leg braces kept you from even moving at all. "Um..." You laughed awkwardly, turning back towards Aizawa. "Can I have help? If not I understand," silence lingered.

"I suppose," Aizawa hummed, stroking his chin. "However it depends on who in the class wants to risk getting in trouble. Besides that, be my guest-"

"I'll take you!" Iida shot up from his seat. "Anything for you, especially since this is all for such a great deed!"

"Thanks Iida!" You cheered. Iida ran over, giving you a great big hug, before scooping you up within his arms and ran right for the General Department. Iida dropped you off right at the door and speeding off before the staff could catch him in the act. You knocked on the door, inviting yourself in. The students all exchanged their attention from their teacher to you.

"Its the girl who mysteriously lost in the Tournament," one student awed. There was a rather choked noise that leaked from another student. You followed the noise to that messy head of purple, Shinso, who's lavender eye twitched like you were the last person he ever wanted to see.

"What's your business?" His teacher questioned rather calmly.

"I need to speak with Shinso," you claimed. "A schedule change to be more specific."

"Go ahead Shinso," at that moment, Shinso gathered up his things and quickly left the classroom. You stepped out behind him, only to get an explosion of a reply in return.

"Why did you seek me out? Don't you have better things to do?" Shinso was overwhelmed with confusion that it created this new angered side due to such.

You took the reaction so calmly, it were as if his words did no damage in the slightest. "I don't have anything better to do... But you do," instead of pointing at Shinso with one finger, your fingers were useless, your entire arm motiones instead.

"Yeah I should be in class," Shinso glared at you.

"Knock it off with the serious bad boy vibe! I'm not buying it," you growled taking him by surprise. "Recovery Girl, All Might, AND your mentor Aizawa all told me you visited me in the hospital often. We don't know each other in the slightest yet you took time out of your day to be by my side. They also told me a few other things but I'd rather you come clean first..."

"Yeah..." Shinso huffed. "I won the Tournament, I turned down the chance to be in your class cause I unfairly won in our match. Accept it," arms were crossed.

"Unfair my ass," you cursed. "I fucked up my own chances in winning and now I'm disabled all over," no need to provide examples since they were clear as day. "I understand that you declined your chance in my class, but I'm handing you my spot. I'm asking you in person to join my class! I still can't look past the fact you spent so much time with me in recovery..." You couldn't remember a thing, yet, his importance lingered. You won't give up on Shinso so easily.

"I wanted to make sure you were okay," Shinso finally sounded sincere for a change. "I was the only person with a quirk who could help you in recovery. I wanted to see you recover, all so we could have a fair match in the future," your heart fluttered hearing the truth behind his words.

"Shinso... You're too nice for your own good," you awed holding out your arms. "Thank you for everything, but hear me out for a change."

"I will," Shinso agreed.

"You deserve my place in the Hero Course. You will get a rematch in the future, not any time soon, but you will," your words finally made it through to the boy with purple hair.

"I'll hold you to that promise," Shinso smirked. "Are you asking me for a hug?" His head was tilted to one side.

"Why else am I holding my arms out?" You giggled. Shinso snickered and joined you for the hug you asked for.

"I have one condition on if I join the Hero Course."

"And what's that?" You hummed.

"It'll be like the Tournament again. If you win, you take your place back. If I win, I continue to stay."

"I accept."
