Underdog: All Might x Male Reader

Day 5 of Yaoi Week

It's been a not so long break for the retired number one hero we all loved that went by the name of All Might. The man who gave all of his might to save anyone in need. The Hero retired recently due to... Complications. His number one rival, All for One, has bit the dust in one big fight, as did All Might in a sense. That fight drained All Might of his quirk, leaving him scrawny and defenseless but most of all ordinary. Everybody remembered him as the hero they all loved, but even then, All Might longed for the taste of freedom and gratitude he once felt as a hero that he could no longer quench like he used to.

That only left one option, to be a teacher to sprouting heros full time.

All Might stepped into the newly built training facility on the U.A. Campus. The casm was echoing with laughs, battlecries, explosions, collisions, it all surely made his heart beat with gratitude to watch his sprouts bud and blossom into heroes. "Hey there Aizawa!" All Might waved to his good friend and coworker meanwhile his other arm was in a sling.

"Toshinori... You have better places to be," Aizawa groaned, unhappy with All Might's appearance at the school.

"I'm still a teacher aren't I?" All Might chuckled taking a place beside Aizawa who only crossed his arms in great disagreement.

"Yes I suppose," Aizawa sighed. "I just find you being here a little inappropriate at the moment when you should be doing other things."

"Like what?" All Might most definitely caught on to Aizawa's want to rid of him. I mean who wouldn't catch on? Everyone knew Aizawa to be rude or uninterested half of the time, but right now is just a whole new level of rude.

"Do you only pay attention to the news when you're the main story?" Aizawa glared at All Might with such disappointment that All Might couldn't help but to feel guilty, even though he still hadn't a clue as to why he should.

"I've been at the doctors non-stop lately, I haven't been able to get caught up with current events," All Might informed his coworker still feeling mighty guilty. Aizawa sighed again, running a hand through his messy black hair.

"Another hero retired recently," All Might perked up with a smile.

"Well who is it? I know Gran Torino says he's retired but he always comes back," All Might chuckled remembering how crazy that old man could get at times.

"It was (Y/n) you nitwit," the drowsy male continued to glare at All Might, but failed to keep such a glance when a yawn overcame him.

"Whoa..." All Might's electric blue eyes widened with realization. "(Y/n) is only our age and healthier than a horse. What the hell happened?"

"A recent villain breakout crippled (Y/n) much worse than what Midoriya has ever endured," All Might looked sick to his stomach, searching around the training facility until his eyes of blue found his bushy haired apprentice. It was saying a lot coming from Aizawa when Midoriya was a boy who used to break his arms and legs on a daily basis. "I think you're the only one who can truly support (Y/n) right now given his and your own position since you just retired."

"Well," All Might rubbed the back of his neck, staring down at the ground. "Looks like I'm clocking out early today."

-----

"Hey buddy," All Might pushed open on your hospital room door, peeking in the room with just his head. Immediately his eyes fell upon you, and he smiled with content despite how horrible you must've felt right now. "Long time no see."

"You're just now visiting me?" You sighed, turning the other cheek to avoid looking at All might in the slightest. "Every pro hero in the city has dropped by at least once... Last Week," All might frowned hearing that comment.

You used to be so easy to talk to, anybody and everybody was your friend. And I was one of your closest friends for a while until hero work pulled me the opposite way. No wonder why Aizawa sent me here, (Y/n)'s in such a slump. "I wasn't notified that you were hospitalized until this morning (Y/n)... Plus I've had quite a few doctor visits myself as you can see," All might slightly moved his arm that lied in a sling around his neck. He saw your features soften, and so you faced forwards once again, but still wore that frown.

"Y'know," All Might stepped forwards. "I'm training a kid who's in a position much like your own."

"Doubt it," you retaliate.

"His name is Midoriya, he took on my quirk about two years back-"

"One for All... Right?" You hummed with interest.

"That's it," All Might gave you a thumbs up. "At first... Young Midoriya couldn't control my quirk in the slightest. Every single time he used it, he broke nearly every bone in his body," you stared at your old friend on the edge on your seat, figuratively. "It got to the point with Midoriya when he broke his bones so often; Granny's healing quirk wasn't much help. His arms were on the verge of being permanently crippled," All Might stopped with his story, lying a hand on the bed of which your legs were... Non-existent. You were so crippled there were no sense in saving your legs and now all there lied were bloody stumps.

"There's always a happy ending to your stories Toshinori," you finally managed to grin. It warmed All Might's heart.

"Midoriya mentored with my old Mentor for a week. Y'know, Gran Torino, the mentor I had back when I first received this quirk in high school."

"Yeah, how could I forget him," you snickered.

"Well when Young Midoriya mentored with Torino, the boy learned how to better control the quirk and now he can use the quirk without breaking any bones in his body... Most of the time. And recently Midoriya was notified that if he breaks his arms one more time, he can kiss his dream of becoming a hero goodbye. But it isn't keeping him down, just today I saw him enhancing his hero costume to better support his arms and legs in combat to prevent injury! I am proud of my boy!!!" All Might was just overflowing with happiness, proud to have raised such a fine hero. The man was hoping, just hoping this Underdog story will bring you into a better place than what you writhe in now. That decision is all up to you.

"I want to meet this Midoriya kid someday," you exclaimed.

"You can right now if you want," All Might pulled out his phone. "School should let out any time now."

"No need... Just bring him in a different time," you waved your hand. "Toshinori?"

"Yeah what's up (Y/n)?"

"Do you think that If I really push through this healing process and therapy, and maybe dump some money into a new pair of legs, that I can come out of retirement? If Midoriya can jump through hurdles to be a hero, and you!" You reached out and took All Might's free hand. "You had your secret and that huge chest injury that interfere with your hero work but that didn't stop you... I don't want this to be the end of me."

"Then make your mark (Y/n), me and my students can even help you out. Just let me know what you need, I'm here to help."
