Trust: Todoroki x Reader

This is the first part to the Tokyo Ghoul and MHA crossover. That it unfortunately discontinued...
No prior knowledge of Tokyo Ghoul is required to enjoy this x Reader except two things:
Ghouls are humanoids who can only eat humans.
The whites of a Ghoul's eye turn black while the iris turns red whenever they go into attack mode just like the pic above.

After wandering around many streets of the city, you were following a red dot blindly on a small screen for the better part of an hour. Just as you nearly called the search off, your phone gave off the words "you have reached your destination," in a robotic feminine voice that came from a text to speech program. You knew that Shoto wanted everyone to get together for coffee, but a small family owned cafe in the middle of nowhere? "Is this the right place?" You began to question all logic.

One of your closest friends from highschool, Shoto Todoroki, has been desperate for everyone to meet up for quite some time now. With college and the stresses that come with it, nobody has really been able to visit another. He doesn't want to end friendships just yet and you can't blame him for that desire. You still find it awfully peculiar that he chose a secluded cafe of all things. With your college major, you can't leave campus for too long let alone at all and this trip was pushing it...

You pocketed your phone with distaste. Although reluctant to come here in the first place, since you're already at the cafe you figured you might as well stick around. A sweet series of bells chimed upon entering the establishment. The chime attracted the attention of almost everyone within with craned necks and confused stares. Their reactions were strange. In any other setting, wouldn't patrons just ignore you? It left you to feel out of place. "Forget it..." You groaned.

From a nearby table, Shoto witness your back as it began to slump. Your feet made small yet also overly obvious footsteps towards the exit. "(Y/n)..." Shoto called you out just before you could escape your definition of a nightmare.

You curse ever hearing his deep voice, "coming..." You straighten yourself out with a sigh as you took a seat at the table Shoto picked out for the group. A small table with four cushioned chairs on all four sides. Although it was only Shoto at the table, he seemed content sipping on his mug of coffee with gently closed eyes and steam to tickle his nostrils.

Shoto's eyes fluttered open, only to notice that distasteful glare upon your face. "Something wrong (Y/n)?"

"Oh there's many things wrong," your voice was airy with sarcasm as you pressed your lips into a line. "First you made me come out to the middle of nowhere," you lifted your index finger and added the middle. "And second why am I the only one here? If this is a secret date where you tell me that everyone had different plans then-"

A bell chimed, everybody's heads shot in the direction of the entrance to a boy with bushy emerald hair. "Hey guys!!!" All smiles and freckled cheeks, Midoriya. Of course he'd brighten up the room.

You sighed, with Midoriya's appearance meant you've assumed wrong. "Sorry for assuming this was a date. Sorry for my attitude too," You apologized.

"Would you have been upset if it was a date?" Shoto questioned.

Your eyes went large for a second and you hope deeply he didn't see. "I would have been upset if it was..." You tap the table with your fingers like a drum. "A secret date I mean!!!" You realized where you went wrong. "You don't need to lie about this being a get together and everyone flaking out in order to get me out on a date with you."

"Has that happened to you before?" Midoriya invited himself into the conversation at the right time.

"A few times actually..." There's reasons why you haven't held a conversation with Kaminari in forever. Of all people, you'd think he'd be one of the more confident men out there when it comes to dating. "It's part of the reason why I'm not searching for a boyfriend. I value honesty over most."

"Maybe after this..." Something tugged at the corner of Shoto's lips leaving him with a half finished smile. "If you don't mind, I'd actually love to take you on a date. I was waiting for the right time."

Midoriya leaned over towards Shoto and pressed a hand to one side of his mouth. "Shoto you can't just ask her that!" Midoriya glanced above his hand to view you for a second. In turn, you tried to act as if you never heard him in the first place. He's so oblivious. "(Y/n) doesn't want to date anyone right now-"

Now's the right time, "I'd love to go on a date," you smiled ear to ear surprising Midoriya. "Just not today... Okay?"

"Why not?" Shoto's curiosity shown through.

"I'm borderline failing chemistry so I went out and got myself a tutor."

"Aren't you a major in science?" Midoriya assumed correctly. You'd think someone majoring in science would at least be decent at chemistry. Nope!

A laugh leaked from your throat. "Yeah but... Chemistry sucks!"

Weirdly enough, MIdoriya and Shoto nodded to agree with you. A waitress with flowy purple hair came around and gave Midoriya and yourself a choice of coffee or tea. You both went with coffee. Once orders were delivered to the table, conversations continued. "Who's your tutor (Y/n)?" Midoriya asked of you after brainstorming for a while. "I hear that Ashido and Hatsume are pretty good students." Hatsume majors in robotics. With her being an inventor as an occupation, she's experimented with elements on the periodic table more than a few hundred times. Ashido on the other hand isn't the best with chemistry, however she is the girl to go to if you want to know more about acids and what materials you can melt with them.

"Katsuki Bakugou actually," you blew on your coffee to cool it off. Midoriya looked genuinely surprised. Meanwhile all the color drained out of Shoto's face.

"Kacchan's always destroying the lab!!!" Midoriya gasped.

Why yes, for a fact Bakugou does blow up the chemistry lab on a regular. He tries to combine as many chemicals as possible to figure out which elements cause explosions. "But he has straight A's and Kirishima recommended him to me. If he can teach me the stuff, I can put up with an angry asshole a few hours each week-"

Shoto didn't even listen to your explanation, he's been too mentally trapped on the fact that you spoke of Bakugou's name. The name was a curse around these parts of Japan... "Don't go!" Shoto demanded as his echoing voice caught the attention of many. Not that his demand was very surprising though because a forbidden name was spoken.Shoto, realizing where he went wrong, he sighed and calmed his nerves in only a little. "Can't you reschedule?"

"We made a deal to study on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I can't afford to skip out and lose him as a tutor," you answered, only to backtrack. "Wait... What's your problem Shoto? Are you that impatient for our date? I'll only be gone an hour-"

Shoto forced a hand to his left eye. He was hissing as if he was in deeply rooted pain. "I don't trust Bakugou... Trust me on that," the boy began to plead with you. It was painful just watching him.

"I trust your judgement," You admit with ease. You trust Shoto more than anyone else you know. "But I've already studied with him twice. Therefore, I trust him too. Give me a reason not to trust Bakugou."

Shoto sat there, struggling to find a reply. "Unless you're friends with him, he'll hurt you... Don't go before you regret it."

"Again..." You groaned. "I need details in which you're lacking. How would he hurt me? Did he give you your scar?"

"No... Shoto removed the hand that covered his burn scar on the left side of his face. "I did this to myself..." I hate my father, regret being born into his bloodline...

"Shoto!" You gasped.

"I can't give you specifics about Bakugou because it's an unspoken code between me and him and many other people," at this point, the entire cafe was wide eyed and silent. "Trust my judgement... You'll thank me later."

You stood up from your seat, "forget the date Shoto... The point of dating is to find your lover. Y'know, the person you want to share the rest of your life with," digging through your purse to pull out enough money to compensate for your drink, you continued. "I can respect that you have a bro code or whatever it is. But when you're telling me that my life is a stake and you're refusing to tell me why, It leads me to believe you're just jealous of Bakugou or something. I want nothing to do with you."

Shoto realized where he went wrong, his shoulders began to slump. "(Y/n)..."

"We can still be friends but I don't want anything to do with you for a while," and you left without looking back. Midoriya too began packing his stuff up and left as well with the tension in the air being too thick.

"Crap..." Shoto cursed under his breath and began to pace around the cafe.

-----

You shot Bakugou a call asking if he was okay with studying a little earlier than normal today. Shoto straight up ruined your day, now you just want to finish it up as soon as possible. Luckily Bakugou was alright with the plan. You'll have to study with Kirishima too but you don't have a problem with that. Those two boys were at yet another cafe, but it was within a mile from campus so you were alright with that.

"Bitch... Why do you look shitty today?" Bakugou barked the second you sat beside him at the table.

"I got into a fight... Nothing big," Bakugou cocked a brow at you as you weren't giving him the details he wanted. "I fought with Shoto Todoroki earlier... Not very sure if either of you remember him but... Yeah we had a disagreement."

"Half n' Half Bastard," Bakugou growled with bared teeth.

Ignoring the hurtful nickname, Kirishima rubbed you down the back. "What'd you two fight about? Can't be anything too bad right?"

"Before I answer," you began to hesitate whether you should even speak of the argument or not. "Bakugou... Do you have a past with Shoto? He kept telling me to keep away from you," cue the bizarre silence. Bakugou wasn't phased by the question, but Kirishima's smile faded away leaving nothing but dread upon his face.

Bakugou smirked, "That bastard doesn't approve of half the shit I do. We've fought more times than I can count. Haven't seen him in years and wish to keep it that way."

"You're just territorial..." Kirishima spoke under his breath.

"And is that a problem?" Bakugou chuckled.

"You're just a bad influence is that all?" You're having a hard time figuring out Shoto's deal with Bakugou.

"Depends on who you ask," Kirishima smiled. "Baku-Bro is the best in my eyes!"

"Alright... Thanks," it all left you wondering about Shoto more than before. Shoto is the most 'go with the flow' guy out there. You can tell him anything and he'd be alright with it. What horrible things does Bakugou do to earn Shoto's hatred?

"Breaking News!!!"

The tv on display within the cafe exclaimed. The cashier began turning up the volume on it so that everyone could hear.

"Ghoul attacks have been on the rise!!!" The male newscaster exclaimed with terror spread upon his features. "Ghouls... They walk amongst us humans as one of us with a diet for human flesh. Ghouls have been hunting humans at an all time high within the last two weeks. Also, it is important to note that ghouls have also been attacking their own species more and more with each coming day. This leads us to believe ghouls have been competing for food or 'hunting grounds'. In Ward One A, Ghoul deaths highly outmatch those of humans ten to one. It is highly recommended that you never travel alone, especially at night in order to avoid death at the hands of these monsters."

The New broadcast finished leaving you to be terrified yet relieved. You happen to live in Ward One A, this means it is technically the safest ward as of right now with all the ghouls dying off. Those facts made you feel relieved but you're still scared that ghouls are out there. If all the ghouls are dying off due to competition, that means there's a much larger threat out there.

"After we study, do either of you mind walking me back to my dorm on campus? I mean we're all going to the same place..." You're ashamed in asking.

"Oh fuck are you seriously spooked over that ghoul bullshit on the news?" Bakugou sent you heated glares.

"Okay fine I'll walk back alone-"

"I'll walk your ass home since you're paying me."

"Thanks," Paying Bakugou to tutor you has been the best idea you've had yet. Even a ghoul would be terrified at the sight of this blonde explosive man.

Again, this is discontinued. I only re published it due to high demand...
