School is the time that everyone gets together, glued to their seats, for seven hours a day. What happens afterwards is free for anyone to do whatever their heart desires. Climb a cliff, take a nap, run around like headless chickens? Really, anything could happen. Even though anything can happen, class 1. A. students got a good ‘feel’ for their peer’s schedules. You’ll always find Koda playing around with his pets, Sato baking sweets in the kitchen, Momo sipping high end tea, Jiro writing herself a new hit song with Kaminari to help, Bakugou and Kirishima studying their eyes off, and many others to add. However, it wasn’t until recently that the students of class 1. A. had noticed Midoriya’s break in schedule. They began to wonder where Izuku Midoriya scurried off to on most days after school. Normally, he’s training to hone his skills better or studying till he flops dead like a fish. Not as of lately though. Midoriya’s been leaving U.A. campus more often than none. But for what reason? Of course those who are close to him are beginning to wonder where he’s been. Although, most of them just want a good study buddy more than anything.

That’s why, after careful planning and endless searching for the elusive broccoli boy, Kaminari managed to put a rain on Midoriya’s parade before he could evade his advances. “Hey bro!” Kaminari slung an arm across Midoriya’s shoulders to trap him on the spot. “Wanna study together? I already have all my stuff!”

“I’m not studying though,” Midoriya unfortunately admits. To be perfectly honest, he doesn’t really want to help Kaminari out right now either. Being the good hero in training that he was, Midoriya couldn’t exactly turn him down either. His heart wouldn’t let him hear the end of it if he did...

“What’re you doing then?” The blonde hummed.

“Just to the cafe nearby to do some reading.”

Can’t reading be done anywhere? Why does he need to go across town to read? “Everyday of the week?” Kaminari surely was becoming skeptic by the second.

“It’s cheap,” Midoriya shrugged Kaminari’s loosely clung arm from off his shoulders. “Plus they always stock up on manga and magazines that you can read all you want as long as you buy something.” So a library where you pay for admission?

Kaminari awed with a precarious tap of his chin. “Oh that place! I’ve been hearing about it alot lately.”

“Come if you want,” Midoriya nicely stepped away being the sheepish boy he was. “I can help you study but I’ll be doing my own thing so don’t expect me to hover over your shoulder.” A sigh of relief and Midoriya knew he handled his business perfectly. He gets to read, Kaminari can sneak in some desperately needed studying. Everyone wins!

“Hey that’s fine!” Kaminari whistled. “I studied with Bakugou ONCE! Man… It’s like he’s breathing down my neck. Yaoyorozu’s too busy showing off her expensive stuff and Iida is too straightforward for me.” You might say 3.14 = but all that Kaminari’s thinking is ‘Pie is math?’ Jiro and Bakugou always teased him by saying his quirk fried his brain cells and always laughed off the jokes but seriously… Kaminari’s beginning to wonder if his quirk really is lowering his brain cells to idiotic quantities.

With a book bag filled to the brim with textbooks galore, Kaminari followed Midoriya to the new manga cafe in town. It was a hotspot for teenagers because of the free manga and that it was convenient given that it was walking distance from UA. Much to Midoriya’s surprise, the place wasn’t as busy as it usually was. It was RIGHT afterschool though, so the vacancy should be expected. Therefore, they could practically sit anywhere within the loungy establishment of red couches and stalls to the white tiled floor and embroidered pillows. Midoriya on the other hand approached the register as if it was a noble quest the second he’d enter where a beautiful teenage waitress stood mixing a shallow cup of coffee. Somehow, her hair was always perfect, apron wrinkle free yet stained just barely with coffee spills and her name on display on a golden badge clipped to the shirt of her breast:(Y/n). Kaminari too couldn’t peel his eyes from the working beauty. She was so focussed on that little cup as she poured cream into it to make a masterpiece of a picture within. Upon their approach, the girl shifted from complete and utter boredom to that of delight in two seconds flat at the sight of Midoriya’s beaming smile. “Nice to see you again (Y/n)!” Midoriya bowed slightly before the girl in such a chivalrous manner. “Do you have anything new on All Might yet?”

“I made a special order just for you,” the girl hummed. “It should be here any day now!”

Midoriya could hardly contain his excitement. “Thank you (Y/n)! Oh!!!” He reached around himself to release the finicky zipper of his bag. “I know how you’re always borrowing books from the store since you can’t afford them so I got you that one manga you’ve really like!” After a blind struggle, Midoriya managed to locate one particular book as he pulled it out in speedy time. One lone laminated cover manga. “I read a little bit of it and I gotta say, I might give it a try myself. Cyborgs, leopards, assassins and swimming frogs? And that was only the tip of the Iceburg!”

“Oh my god,” (Y/n) pulled together herself a tiny little excited dance. “I get the joke! You really did read some of it!!!” And then it all sat in. (Y/n) stood as speechless as one could be as she took Midoriya’s gift into her possession. “This really is my favorite part of this series. I never even told you what volumes they were. Thank you.”

“I paid attention,” Midoriya nodded, feeling as chipper as ever to have wooed (Y/n).

“Again,” (Y/n) fought the heat that attacked her cheeks as she felt no other choice but to divert her gaze from Midoriya’s face to conceal it all. “You and your friend can hang around the cafe for free today. My treat. If you want drinks or food, that’s a different story.”

“I’ll take a latte please,” Kaminari spoke up.

“I’ll have it right up. Go ahead, take a seat. I’ll bring it to you when it’s done.”

“Thanks,” Kaminari thanked the girl as he followed Midoriya around until he took a seat on a cushioned couch and picked up a newly printed magazine and flipped through the pages after lightly skimming every other page with an interested hum every now and again. Kaminari was slowly unpacking his things, but he couldn’t steal his eyes from Midoriya who was as smug as ever after everything that just unfolded a moment ago. “Dude,” Kaminari shook his head, earning the boy’s attention. “I’ve seen how you are around Uraraka yet you talked to that smoking hot girl without breaking a sweat. Are you dense or can you hide your feelings that well?” Midoriya’s a stuttering mess around Uraraka, not as of lately, but he does and EVERYONE knows about Midoriya’s crush on the brunette.

“Well…” Midoriya’s mouth scrunched up as the freckled expanse of his face flushed a million shades of red.

“You DO like her!” Kaminari gasped. “No wonder why you’re always coming here!”

“I-I don’t know if she likes me back,” he whined.

“She CLEARLY likes you back,” Kaminari pointed dramatically at Midoriya stirring up a scene. “Did you not see her go all cherry faced when you gave her that book?” How could anybody forget that? How could anybody NOT see her grow flustered? It was like she was the silver screen at a theater that attracted the eyes of everyone around.

“I couldn’t see-”

“Don’t feed me that bullshit Midoriya! The whole world saw her blushing!”

Midoriya shushed Kaminari and threw himself over the blonde desperately. “Whisper!!! Use an indoor voice please!!!”

“If you’re gonna fight then get out!” (Y/n) stomped her foot as her voice echoed within the establishment.

Kaminari and Midoriya stared at the girl in bewilderment, yet, they couldn’t move a muscle. “Y-Yes ma’am!” Midoriya took the initiative and got off the blonde pest and sat as far away from each other as they could manage.

“No,” (Y/n) shook her head. “Just get out Blondie.”

“Huh!?” He gasped. “MIdoriya jumped me!!!”

“And you Instigated him!” (Y/n) puffed out her cheeks. “I’ve never seen Midoriya look so awful! Magically you come In and make a mess of everything. Pay for your latte and leave!” One thing for sure was that (Y/n) doesn’t tolerate much of anything.

“I’m sorry,” Kaminari pulled out a few bills and laid them on the tabletop. He bent over to hover before Midoriya’s ear. “Hot, nice, easily flattered, protective AND confident… She’s a keeper dude,” Kaminari pulled back with a thumbs up, took the latte from the angry waitress and left without another word.

(Y/n) let out a sigh of relief as she picked up the bills. “You know I don’t tolerate fighting Midoriya,” she bellowed.

“I…” He trailed off. Midoriya knew he broke her biggest rules and was in for a licking “I know…”

“Be back in a minute.” The girl pats the boy comfortingly on the shoulder and scurried off with her head held high. She came back in two minutes and twenty two seconds, not like Midoriya was counting, with a coffee cup that had a tower of foam on top. (Y/n) sat it down before Midoriya and he awed as it was a bunny made out of foam. “A cinnamon hot chocolate just how you like it.”

The bunny was a new and adorable touch. Midoriya feels dirty even thinking about destroying his crush’s masterpiece. It’s too cute to kill!!! “Thanks,” Midoriya progressed to whip out his wallet.

Except, (Y/n) brought it to a close. “No,” she shook her head. “On me.”

“No…” Midoriya began to freak. “At least let me pay-”

“On the house…” (Y/n) repeats. “Because the whole world heard that ‘little’ argument.”

“Oh god…” His face was red once more.

“It’s fine,” she sat down beside him. “I like you too. I was too shy to tell you how I felt. I had no idea if you liked me and we also went to different schools. I wasn’t sure if… I’m really unsure if you’re even willing to give me, a quirkless waitress, a try.”

“(Y/n)...” Midoriya held the girl’s hands gently within his own. “You’re the most confident girl I know and you tell me that I’m too good for you?”

“Well…”(Y/n) found herself staring down at her lap once more to keep from connecting with Midoriya’s emerald. “You’re gonna be the next Number One… And I’m a waitress. Do you really blame me? I really can’t offer you much…”

“Quit belittling yourself!” Midoriya snapped and forced (Y/n) to look up with a hand to direct her chin. “I used to be nothing too (Y/n)! I’d happily be your boyfriend. You yourself pointed it out earlier, I listen to the things you say, I care! I won’t leave until you say that I’m your boyfriend!!!”

That confidence… “Boyfriend,” She smiles ear to ear.

“Girlfriend,” Midoriya snickered and removed his hand from the girl’s chin. “I’ll stay late tonight and help you pack up. Maybe I can walk you home too… I-If you’re alright with that!”

“I’d love that.”
