The End, Q&A, Goodbye, My Future Plans
So… I have finally decided today that I will no longer upload to Wattpad. A month or three(?) ago, I came out and said that I’ve dropped all requests that belong to reference winners and anyone in between and that If I were to upload it’d be something I genuinely had my heart set upon, well, I think I’m genuinely done here. It definitely dawned upon me today that I don’t miss writing for Wattpad because I became so out of touch with so many things that I used to love. Like art! I never realized how much I missed working on my art until I got a sudden punch in the gut with inspiration. With me having a full time job as well, I have to majorly pick and choose what I do in my freetime and I’d rather use said time to work on art, getting a real book published and maybe a little videogames here and there. Wattpad isn’t moving me forward and that realization is great motivation to move forward!
Fret not! I am not leaving Wattpad! I’m just not going to upload anymore. I’ll still be here to answer messages and/or comments. Monitor the comments, see how you all are enjoying my content and stuff. As some of you may know, I’m very active over on my profile. I’m always sharing fun facts, things about my day and very mature life advice (Despite only being 20 years old).
The advice is mainly putting your needs above others, positive mental attitude, make sure you’re not ignoring your problems and just try to do what you can to keep yourself from a pit of despair even if it means taking one hour out of your day to nap, to speak to a friend, to become more aware of what’s happening around you. Trust me when I say all this because when I got a full time job, I never realized just how ‘oblivious’ I was to everything that was going around me. I wasn’t aware of how much I missed some of my past passions, how exhausted I would become, how poorly both my mental and physical state had deteriorated. I’ve gained weight like crazy, I’d always sleep, I started to have panic attacks on the norm. I know for a fact I’m not depressed, but for a while I was borderline. It’s because of all that, I learned how valuable time is and that most of my motivation is now geared towards making myself healthier once again! I want to get rid of my panic attacks for good! I want to lose so much weight that high blood pressure/hypertension isn’t a problem anymore. I’ve actually looked in the mirror (A full body mirror) recently and burst into tears. It was the best I’ve looked in years, the first time in forever I’ve told myself that I’m pretty. I’ve gone my whole life having people tell me that I’m not pretty, that I’m too fat for anyone to like. And yeah, those comments broke me but it was also because of them I have the astounding amount of confidence that I have today. I have people walk up to me telling me that they’d kill to have my level confidence. Don’t let people walk all over you, take their words and turn it into your own ammunition.
Alright so, yeah, this is my farewell from writing on here. I am not done writing as a whole. I intend to publish real books someday. In fact, I’m extremely close on countless occasions. The editors/publishers basically told me time and time again to rewrite the book or told me that certain things would never work and yeah, I’m still working on it thanks to such but it’s a work in progress.
I’m still very much active over on my Instagram, my name over there is haircolorstorm. I’ve done a face reveal on there if that’s what you desire. I’m almost entirely an art profile over there where I paint and work with pens as my main mediums. I’m also highly debating on maybe doing commissions real soon if that peeks any of your interests.
I also have a crap ton of books over on my profile if you want something to read. I’ve dabbled a little bit in oneshots to chapter books. In fact I have two or three Creepypasta books on my profile. One is a Jeff the Killer x OC and the other a Ticci Tobi x OC.
I got a crap ton of One Piece books! A huge oneshot book, much like this one, that acts as a One Piece x Reader that includes lemons and fluff. I also have Two Sanji x Reader books (The Cook and the Pirate Princess as well as Crimson Chivalry) and Three Zoro x Reader books (Dream Chasers, Eyes of a Hawk & Two-Track Heart) as well as one Shanks x Reader(Dragon’s Claw) that was co-written, a Paulie x Reader and a Law x Reader(A Heart For None)
Not to Forget that I have three My Hero Academia x Reader Chapter Books! I have Ignition and Remedy, a Two book Bakugou x Reader series that is RIDICULOUSLY popular on my profile as well as Cold Like Death a Shoto Todoroki x Reader. It is however unfinished as of now but I MIGHT finish it. I’m feeling extreme guilt for not finishing it at the moment.
I also promised to answer a few of your long standing questions from months ago. Some are fun and to the point, some are genuine advice so if you want some writing advice then stick around for the questions and answers to come.
Who is my favorite MHA character?
Bakugou
It was in fact a fanart of Bakugou from one of my art inspirations that attracted me to this series in the first place. Once I got into MHA, I at first couldn’t stand Bakugou, and quickly began to simp over Aizawa, but after I saw the amazing amount of character development that went into him and how colorful and fleshed out he is as a person, I can’t help but to love Bakugou! It’s astonishing how 3D or fully fleshed out as a character he is. Also his design, his personality, everything! Take one look at my bedroom and you’ll soon realize which characters I have a hard on for. As in I love, not like in a sexual way. That’d include Venom, Bakugou, Foxy the Pirate, Ryuk, Tony Tony Chopper, Sanji Vinsmoke, Sora, Shigeo Kageyama aka Mob and Dimple, Baymax, Baby Groot, Spiderman AND lastly Baby Yoda aka Grogu and the Mandalorian.
What areas did I study the most in school/what I’m currently majoring in college?
I was an engineering and art junkie in school!!! Anything to do with art and or anything construction related you’d find me doing. I did band for five years, robotics for five years as well, did art every single year or whenever I could! I also did woodshop for three years, auto shop for one. You’d also find me in some sort of science department at all times. In my school we got the choice between chemistry and physics but I DID BOTH!!! I did space science, earth/geology and geography too. Like yeah, I’m kind of a nerd… BUT I sadly dropped from college because of Covid but when I was going to college I was going there for an accounting/marketing degree with a side focus on earth science and art.
How to write dialogue better!!!
Really, dialogue is just practice. I find writing dialogue a lot easier the more outgoing you are. If you’re regularly talking to friends and such then you clearly know that dialogue should come easily, with a flow. You aren’t going to talk to someone as if you’re a robot… Right? Reason why I say all of this is because when you write your dialogue ACT IT OUT!!! Act out the dialogue you just wrote with yourself or with a friend. Does it sound natural? Do you need to breathe a little bit? Does the person speaking have a specific dialect or shorten their words? Does it sound too robotic? Sometimes when writing dialogue, it sounds perfect on paper but when spoken it may sound horrible. That’s why I stress acting out your dialogue. If you’re uncomfortable acting out your dialogue, I suggest inputting it into a text to speech app or something along those lines. I mean, computers aren’t going to sound the best but it’s better than nothing. Sometimes listening to a computer butcher your writing is a clear help because if the AI is having problems reading your work that means you need to go back in and fix. Now, others ask how in the heck do I write as if the real character was speaking. LEARN ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER INSIDE AND OUT!!! Does your character have a deep or high pitched voice? Do they tend to use a more intellectual choice of words or maybe it’s quick and simple? Do they abbreviate or use alternates for words like Y’all instead of you all? Like for example some people will say ‘What the eff!” or Darn or something which’ll hint that your character will avoid cussing at all costs. Oh yeah dialect!!! Does your character have an accent? How do you portray said accent into the writing? Write what the person says exactly how it sounds. Now that sounds really… Elementary so to speak but trust me when I say this. When I read Huckleberry Finn, I could not understand the dialogue for the life of me… Until I spoke the dialogue out loud. The Dialect came out loud and clear and suddenly I could understand what was written. A better example would come from the Harry Potter series. A lot of Rowling’s characters have dialects/accents in her books and use this exact piece of writing tip. Pull out any Harry Potter book, if possible, and you’ll understand what I mean! Hagrid is a great example! His dialogue is written exactly how it sounds compared to how it’s correctly written. The younger conductor on the Knightbus in the beginning of The Prisoner of Azkaban too. I thought I was having a seizure reading his dialogue until I openly spoke it out and suddenly it made sense.
How to make your writing more interesting/less boring
Easy, very easy. Take out the unnecessary shit!!!!!!! I took classes on creative writing and the teacher STRESSED how badly we don’t need to know EVERY LITTLE THING a character is doing. Only write the important stuff, stuff that’ll give us insight to the character, build the scene/imagery, or move the story forward. Or, if you must write something totally useless, don’t spend twenty years on it. Do we need to know your character’s morning routine? No, but if you must add it, be short and sweet and to the point cause if you spend too long on one thing you’ll bore the heck out of your reader. Did we need to know that a character went through Pinterest while waiting for her appointment? Did you need to walk us step by step through how the character opened a car. Example: She pulled out her keys, she put the keys in the door and turned, she opened the door then got in the car and put the keys in the ignition and twisted.
Yeah no… There’s a big difference between show vs tell. All of that was pretty much unnecessary AND you told us everything the person was doing instead of painting a picture. At least make it sound interesting if you must go through it step by step. Like, are the keys rusty? Did the keys jangle when she pulled them out? When inserting the keys, did she perhaps initially miss the hole and had to try again? Maybe the door is heavy or lightweight or sticky! Yeah, to keep attention, pay attention to detail, keep to show vs tell, and keep the unnecessary stuff out of your writing if humanly possible.
What is a big mistake rookie writers make?
There’s a few big things. The inability to take constructive criticism for one. If you can’t take criticism, you’ll never survive. An editor and/or publisher is going to chew on your story and spit it out. You need to know where you can improve and if you’re unable to handle the constructive criticism then you can’t fix where you need help. Get off your high horse, no story is perfect! For crying out loud, when Toy Story was being made, John Lasseter thought the story was perfect. Except, when Tom Hanks was going over his script for Woody, Tom thought Woody was a HORRIBLE character and voiced his opinion and in turn, the directors made the necessary edits. Without Tom Hanks telling them the truth, Toy Story wouldn’t have gotten altered and made into the cult classic that it is today.
Second, learn the basics to writing… I can’t tell you how many writers I’ve ripped apart because they didn’t know anything about writing and thought they were the best beings in the world. You NEED to know where to put periods and IF instead a comma could go in its place. Verbs DO NOT go after commas. Know how to start a paragraph and when to end it. ALWAYS start a new paragraph whenever someone new speaks. Change paragraphs when there’s a shift in focus. Paragraph SHOULD NOT be big and taunting! Paragraphs should always at least be five sentences long and should never go past ten unless stated otherwise. Each sentence will and always WILL have a subject as in he, she, they, etc. It’s totally fine for action words or a singular sentence to stand alone as long as you’re trying to grab someone’s attention OR there’s great significance behind it.
TIME SKIPS!!! Never announce a time skip!!! Either flawlessly shift the story or use a symbol to mark that there’s a time skip such as a line of ********** or -------------- separating two paragraphs. Same with point of view changes! Never announce them!!! Either choose a singular point of view, a 3rd POV, a Narrator’s POV or change the point of view very discreetly. A great example of such is the Witch and Wizard series! The chapters aren’t named, instead, at the heading of each chapter is the name of the character of which the pov of the chapter is being seen through. For example chapter one is being told through Jack’s POV because the heading said Jack while chapter two is being told through Winny’s POV because the heading said her name. Personally, I prefer 3rd Person POV because you aren’t stuck to one POV and that you have insight to all of the characters and the shift of focus isn’t hard to achieve. Just keep in mind I, Me, My isn’t used.
I hope this all helps you guys! I wish you guys luck and most of all, thank you to everyone for giving me a wonderful 5 years of writing here on Wattpad. Love you all!
