Tape: Aizawa x Reader

Requested by iciclesthecat. Love you girl, always happy to write your ideas.
One minor note before we begin, Aizawa will be 10 years older. It wasn’t until after I wrote this that I realized Aizawa and Enji are 10 years apart therefore they wouldn’t be enrolled in UA at the same time but also because Aizawa is 30 in the show and if he were to have a son the same age as Midoriya he would’ve had to have a kid at the age of 14. That’s why I added 10 years to his age.

Oh how it was wrong to smile, so very wrong to laugh, but how a poor battered Shouta sat there on the edge of the nurse's cot all slumped over with the most blank and tired expression plastered on his face just killed you. Those horse sized painkillers must've been working, that’s only the assumption if he wasn’t moaning and groaning like a ghost just like he was ten minutes ago. Still, he's so unaware of how much pain he would be in if you hadn't stepped in today…

"Just because you can erase their quirk doesn't mean you can keep them from beating you like a punching bag," you giggled into your hand. The other hand began to fiddle with the taped end to a roll of gauze you'd prepared for the man of raven hair. Medical tape was your specialty afterall, you’d think a tape dispensing quirk isn’t that useful but you’ve proven otherwise.

Shouta heard you loud and clear, however he didn't really want to open his mouth. He had to reply nevertheless. "I hate our school’s monthly open fight nights..." Aizawa spoke through a bloodied busted lip and swollen right eye. Yeah, you heard him right. UA allows all students to partake in one on one fights once every month. They were an easy way to get scouted by hero agencies and other pro heroes alike as well as doubling as a means of entertainment to the public and easy donations to keep the fights coming. You can see why some are against the idea of a school fight club, as well as being all for it.

You however, frowned hearing how pained Shouta still felt despite being all drugged up. "Yeah it does suck that if we're challenged we can't back out," you agree with Shouta to some extent. It was your only problem with the fight club. "However it's like real life... if a villain challenges you, not like you can call your mom to get you out of trouble."

"Ha ha," Shouta stopped laughing suddenly. "I'm no kid (Y/n)."

"Yeah but it's always me who's dressing your wounds and breaking up the fights before you're beaten unconscious," okay that fact even Shouta couldn't disagree with. Without you to break the fights, he'd be disabled from head to toe.

"You know what?" Shouta hissed. "I like being babied by you (Y/n)," the battered boy tried to smile but failed. Well, he did smile, but smiling is so foreign to Shouta that they come off as creepy grimaces that’d make a child run for the hills.

"My pleasure," you smiled softly. Shouta may be scary mature at times, but this soft side always opened up around you in particular. "Lift your arm for me Shouta... Gotta treat your arm," the boy complied and lifted his arm. Blood had dried to his fingertips while a large gash occupied his forearm. Your delicate touch made dressing his wound with medicated tape and gauze quick and easy.

Shouta appreciated your work, giving his hand an experimental grip and felt no pain at all. "Thank you (Y/n)."

"I think it's about time you took a trip to the costume department," you said.

"Huh?"

"Clearly just using your fists and deleting quirks isn't doing it. Maybe... Maybe looking into a gun or something will do you some good. You aren't the most muscular guy at UA, keeping the bad boys away from you may keep you alive for a change," you’d hate to see Shouta in the infirmary again all because he cant handle an enemy swindled in muscles and brawn. That’s actually why he ends up in the infirmary time and time again. The more muscular students like to pick him out from the crowd for being the smaller student in class, allowing them to show off their skills with ease all for a stupid scouting opportunity...

"I'll look into it," Shouta promises you his word.

"Now I'm gonna challenge Enji... He beat you up afte rall," challenging meant you were gonna win. Nobody has beat you on open fight night yet.

"Make sure he feels it tomorrow," Shouta waved goodbye as you ran out in a hurry. He couldn't ask for a better friend, that's what Shouta thought as he retracted his bandaged arm, staring at your gentle handiwork.

-----

Open fight night has rolled around the next month. It's been a long 30 days and Shouta couldn't be anymore proud than to show off his newest weapon all inspired by you and you alone. A scarf that felt as if it was a mile long lied in a pool around Shouta's neck and shoulders. Thin like paper, yet grey and impenetrable just like the tape you'd treat all of his injuries with time and time again. He's ready to kick some fiery ass, even if you already extinguished it a month before.

"Sensei..." Shouta bowed before his teacher in the school gymnasium. The crowd was roaring with excitement. "I challenge Enji Todoroki."

"Denied," his teacher pursued his lips. Shouta frowned suddenly. "After the last time he challenged you I'm surprised you came out within an inch of your life. Just listen to your girlfriend and nobody gets hurt."

"Oh Sensei just let Shouta get his ass handed to him," you sang after overhearing the little disagreement, only to wink at Shouta. At that moment he knew, you had all of your faith that he can come out of this fight victorious.

“Fine,” he scoffed. “This boy is gonna give this school a bad rep! People will wonder how he made it into the top hero class.”

“He’s came a long way in thirty days. You won’t be disappointed,” your teacher stepped away with his whistle bitten between his teeth with stress. You turned to Shouta, “I actually have no clue if you’ve improved since last month so you better blow me away,” you admit. Besides the new appearance of his scarf, you haven’t seen anything change.

“Don’t worry (Y/n),” Shouta reassured. “Todoroki won’t stomp my ass today.”

“I’ll believe it when I see it,” you hummed.

Shouta flashed you a smile before he made way for the small arena in the middle of the gymnasium. Enji Todoroki awaited the scrawnier boy from his corner of the ring with this devilish smirk and flames of reds and orange dancing upon the backs of his hands. Of course Shouta activated his quirk to cancel out Todoroki’s flames, his long raven hair stood on end alongside the illuminant crimson of his eyes. Their teacher stood between them, still puffing on his whistle. “Alright boys… Give me a clean fight… Please…” The teacher feared for the worse…

“It’ll be over before you know it,” Shouta smirked.

“Says the boy who hides behind his girlfriend,” Todoroki mocked him.

“She’s not my girlfriend get it straight,” Shouta growled.

“Damn boy you must be in denial,” Todoroki chuckled. Everybody knows Shouta has a thing for you. You do too but people just automatically assume you’re just being a nice person to him since you’re his only friend besides Hisashi and that you’re a nurse and pro hero in training.

“You’re dead,” Shouta blinked real quick, only to activate his quirk the second their teacher blew on his whistle. Immediately, Todoroki was aware that he couldn’t use his flames so he stomped down on his right foot with his fist pulled back. Shouta smirked, jumping back on instinct, throwing his scarf at his rival. The long grey scarf had jutted out at Todoroki so quickly he couldn’t even process the moment when the scarf had wrapped itself so tightly around his wrist he couldn’t open up his hand. Despite all this, Todoroki kept his firm carnivorous stare. Shouta pulled him towards himself, throwing even more scarf the fire giant’s way. Before Todoroki could even react, his body was bound in strangely strong material, face down on the ground, with Shouta’s boot planted dead square in the back.

The match was decided, and the crowd went wild.

“And the winner is SHOUTA AIZAWA AKA ERASERHEAD!!!” Hisashi always loved to be the announcer during these events. Even Aizawa hasn’t registered that he had won against the iron giant of the school. And even though you had your faith in Shouta, even his win was a shock to yourself. He’s a completely different hero now, a hero with a chance.

“Tape…” Shouta smirked. “All I did was make a weapon to mimic your quirk (Y/n)... And I won… We won…”

“Shouta!!!” You tackled the boy into a hug, nuzzling your cheek into his. “Oh my god you’re so badass!”

“It was you who told me to make a new weapon,” Shouta turned his head the opposite direction. It was all in attempt to hide the faintest dust of pink on his cheeks.

Since then, the two of you were considered to be dating without actually dating. It was a difficult definition of the relationship the two of you shared. You wanted to date, he wanted to date, you awaited the day he’d actually ask you first hand to be his girlfriend yet he never popped the question. So, sometimes you purposely set up romantic dates and watched the boy suffer from embarrassment. However, when graduation came the two of you went separate ways and took on lives of your own. Shouta became a Pro Hero, you tried out hero work for a while but settled on medical studies afterwards. This was when the two of you really began to drift apart. With you studying to become a doctor instead of being a pro, Aizawa never saw you anymore. Doctors also had erratic working schedules of sometimes 60 hours a week meaning you never had the time to catch up with the highschool sweetheart either.

It all led up to the big reunion the two of you had some years later. “Yo Shouta!” Hisashi popped into Aizawa’s classroom at UA. The male in black groaned to his appearance, burying most of his face within the spool of of scarf around his neck all to hide himself. “Shouta, yo Shouta! I got big news!” The blonde pestered.

“Get on with it you dingbat!” Aizawa growled.

“We got a new nurse~” Hisashi sang. “Man oh man she makes my heart sing! She’s so beautiful, it makes me all tearful~” Hisashi pressed a hand to his chest and wiped a stray tear that left his eye from under his golden shades. “Ya gotta say hi ta her Shouta.”

“Maybe later,” Aizawa dismissed the blonde. “One of my new students, Izuku Midoriya, he’s rather accident prone so I’m sure I’ll meet the new girl soon enough,” just last week the boy broke his entire arm in the hero vs. villain exercise and that was all his own fault. “I have a class to teach so why don’t you get lost?” Quite a few of his students were missing yes, all of them in the infirmary, but Aizawa still has to teach everyone who’s still here.

“I’ll take over for a few minutes if you’d like?” Hisashi offered.

“Why do you want me to meet her so bad?” Aizawa glared.

“Cause you know each other,” Hisashi hints before holding one hand up to the side of his mouth and coming within an inch of Aizawa’s ear. “Plus your students are playing hooky in order to hang out with the new girl.”

“I should’ve known,” Aizawa huffed before taking a stand. “Alright Class, Present Mic will be your substitute until I get back.”

“I knew the boys would get in trouble,” Jiro smirked. Apparently the class was aware that some of their classmates were playing sick. Although they couldn’t hear what Present Mic whispered to his friend, they all had assumed someone spilled the beans.

“Surprised you kept your mouth shut as long as you did Iida,” Shoto comments.

“Sero and Kaminari looked sick to me,” Iida admits.

“Only Uraraka is the sick one,” Momo frowned. The girl vomited rainbows and glitter all over the track…

“Bakugou and Midoriya fought again so yeah, we know where they are,” Mineta snickered. “But I did get to see the nurse… She’s so pretty I’d like to play sick all day to be with her too just like Sero and Kaminari,” imagine a beautiful nurse babying you all day long. It’s a dream come true.

“Guess who’s getting detention later?” Aizawa stomped out of the classroom after hearing that earload from his students. His remaining students all simultaneously ‘oooh’ at the fact that their classmates were getting what’s coming to them.

Aizawa made quicktime to the nurse’s infirmary. Upon entering, Recovery Girl was tending to an unconscious Bakugou and Midoriya’s needs while the new nurse stood beside a pale Uraraka who slept soundly on a cot. Kaminari was sat at the end of Uraraka’s cot meanwhile the new nurse also playfully ruffled Sero’s head of black. “For two boys who were vomiting out on the track you look fine now,” Aizawa’s voice was stern as Kaminari and Sero turned towards their teacher.

“I was never sick,” Sero smiled ear to ear. “I carried Uraraka and Kaminari to the nurse.”

“Fine, you’re excused,” Aizawa grunted. “What about you?” Kaminari perked up.

“He was vomiting but I gave him some medicine,” the new nurse spoke on the blonde’s behalf.

However, Aizawa was stone cold shocked. “(Y/n)?” The man quipped, feeling as if his own eyes betrayed him. He hasn’t seen nor heard from you in years.

“When Sero told me who his teacher was I thought I was mistaken but here you are!” You gasped, biting onto your fist. “You becoming a teacher is one of the last things I would’ve ever seen you doing,” what can you say? The man hates noise, loves naps and cats. It doesn’t sound all that fitting for a teacher now does it?

“I can say the same to… You,” Aizawa struggled to find the words. It was so awkward talking to you again after so long. “Last time I knew you were a surgeon in Hosu.”

“Yeah I was,” you giggled. “I quit though because I couldn’t handle 24 hour shifts. Good pay yeah, but I wasn’t spending enough time with my family so I’ve been jumping around a bunch of jobs and now I’m here,” going from a surgeon to a school nurse was a big downgrade. But hey, you’re happy and get to spend more time than ever with your family. Plus, it was your old memories with Aizawa that made you remember all the good times you had tending to his wounds back in highschool. Nothing beats happiness.

“Nice to see you again,” Aizawa bowed slightly just for you. “I’d hate to work 24 hours.”

“Yeah I never saw mom,” Sero tags into the conversation. “Like literally she wasn’t part of my life until I was like ten.”

“That’s harsh bro,” Kaminari sighed.

“Am I missing something?” Aizawa wasn’t connecting the dots.

“Sero’s my son silly,” you grinned. “You’re teaching my son and not once did you think that his quirk is an exact replica of mine?” You rolled up your sleeves to show off the bulkiness of your elbows. Besides, Sero’s iconic smile, his tape dispenser elbows stood out.

“I mean I thought his quirk was similar but didn’t bother to think he was… Yours,” was the easiest way to put everything in Aizawa’s terms. Upon reuniting with you, he was stupid to think you’re still single. You’re 39, of course you’re (possibly) married and have a teenage son. It all made his heart crumple upon itself. If only he would have manned up and asked you to be his girlfriend about 20 years ago, maybe then Sero would be his true son.

“He’s the light of my life,” you gave Sero a quick hug. “Besides him, you’re the main reason I came back to UA Shouta. I’m sure you remember all those times I treated your wounds whenever Todoroki beat you up,” Aizawa reluctantly nodded his head to agree with you. You however noticed the pain behind his eyes. “Hey Sero… Why don’t you and your friend go ahead back to class? I’m sure your dad is teaching something you don’t want to miss.”

“Sure,” Sero grabbed Kaminari and got out. Even he could feel the tension building between the two of you.

“Dad?’ Aizawa tuts the second Sero had gone. He was beginning to simmer with anger. “So you’re telling me that you married that blonde idiot?”

“He was always doing news reports at the hospital so we were always together,” you inform your old friend of what he had missed out on. “Hisashi isn’t as bad as you think Shouta. For the longest time we were just talking sort of like me and you back when we went to UA. He was always adjusting his schedule just for me, we began to date, and now we’re married with a son…” You sighed. You felt there was no need in explaining everything, not now at least. “Are you mad because I married the one person that you can’t stand or… Or is it because you still hold feelings for me? If so… Sorry. Should’ve told me how you really felt or else everything would’ve turned out-”

“Don’t apologize,” Aizawa held up his hand. “You found your true love… And I can definitely see the similarities Sero shares with you and Hisashi,” Sero has your quirk while his outgoing personality and iconic smile belong to none other than Present Mic. “You truly made it in this world (Y/n). If anything… I actually envy you.”

“Oh Shouta-”

“You really did make it in the world. You also helped me without even realizing it,” Aizawa unconsciously gripped at his scarf. A tear had fought to break away at his eyes but he remained strong and held it back. Everything was hitting him at once. It’d be selfish of me if I tell her my true feelings now. I wasn’t a man then, and the damage is done now. For crying out loud we haven’t spoken in 20 years…  “You’re a wonderful mother to Sero, keep it up. I’m glad we got to talk again.”

“There’s the Shouta I remember,” you smiled gently like the angel you were. “I really missed you Shouta… Thanks for being so understanding. Do you mind if we had a hug for old times sake? I understand if you don’t feel comfortable,” for a man to hug another married woman. You don’t understand why guys like to label things as theirs but you sure hope Aizawa doesn’t feel that way. Aizawa didn’t even say a word as he held out his arms welcoming you in for a hug that he deeply wishes he never offered up in the first place. It only broke him down to the point he couldn’t recover.
