Sibling Jealousy: Sero x Reader
“Okay what… What are you doing?” Sero examined the two figures standing atop the fence that surrounded UA. All the two of you did was stare intensely at the hordes of zombies beating and scratching at the gates trying to get within UA. When neither of you answered Sero, the hordes of zombies all so slowly began to leave the gates alone and walk away with groans and shuffling feet against the pavement. “What the… How the hell are you two doing that!?” Sero swiped his arm allowing a long stream of tape to catch onto a pole that made up the gates, pulling him up to your level. Your eyes were lost in a blank grey stare almost reminiscent of the dead bellow, it made your dear friend wonder if you had gotten bit and became one of them. Then he remembered with a childish snicker, “Wait, does yours and Shinso’s quirks actually work on the dead?” Sero exclaimed with utter joy.
“Just barely,” you finally reply yet you didn’t take your eyes nor your mind from the topic from the dead.
The purple haired male turned from his spot on the gates. “Get lost before I make you,” Shinso snapped with his cold voice.
“Leave him alone Shinso,” you groaned sending the purple haired boy a glare. Suddenly, the zombies began sluggishly trodding back towards the school with annoyed groans and airy wheezes to their shriveled up lungs. Shinso’s features scrunched up with a mixture of annoyance and disgust as he soon crossed arms gripping at the muscled flesh of his arms.
“Wow great, all of our hard work down the drain,” Shinso growled sarcastically.
“We’ve been attempting this for weeks, as if it’d work anyways,” you retaliate.
“Is this a bad time?” Sero scratched the back of his neck feeling out of place.
“Of course it is,” Shinso was quick to answer the raven haired boy who began to frown.
“No,” you clutched onto Sero’s shirt making sure he couldn’t leave. “You’re just fine Sero-”
“I can make him kill himself right here right now,” Shinso smirked.
You bit your lip in a pout hiding Sero behind yourself. “I know Eraser taught you better than that-”
“And I’ve told you on more than one occasion to find a better guy to-”
“Sh-shut up he doesn’t need to know!!!” Your face turned beet red as one of your hands flailed about frantically to show the importance of your plea. Can’t believe he’d leak my secrets without a thought or care. “Sero let’s go somewhere else,” you suggested desperately.
“Um… Sure,” Sero avoided contact with Shinso, eye contact even his words, turning his back on the purple haired fellow. “Want to scavenge around again… Not like there’s much we can do,” the boy offered, you nodded your head slightly to agree. The boy wrapped an arm around your waist, he swung an arm releasing more of his strong tape that wrapped around a street lamp propelling you both into the city claimed by the dead.
The hordes of zombies were still at its largest, as if months and months of killing them for good never made a dent. How big was this city? Can’t be that big, or maybe perhaps you were never aware of how large the city for hope really was. “Is there a reason why Shinso hates me so much?” Sero asked some time later while he transported the both of you through the city with his tape like a vine in the jungle.
You sighed, clutching onto his chest tighter due to stress. “At this point I won’t deny it… Shinso thinks we’re an item and Shinso wants me to get with someone in specific from our class…” You replied unwillingly. “Doesn’t help that he’s jealous that we both have the same quirk yet I made it into the Hero Course and he didn’t and all this other crap... “
“Well… He is your brother-”
“He’s an annoying shit that’s what,” you snap.
“I didn’t want to say that but yeah. I totally agree!” Sero snickered as did yourself.
“We’re polar opposites,” you comment. “Hate the fact that we’re twins, he believes we have to do everything together which is also part of the reason why he’s always up my case. He wanted me to pass up being in the Hero Course back when school was a thing just so I wouldn’t make him feel bad to make everything fair and crap!”
“We wouldn’t be friends if you passed up a your place in the Hero Course!” Sero exclaimed, taking a rest atop an abandoned building safe from zombies, yet it gathered their attention in large numbers to the scent of fresh meat nearby.
“To be fair I almost quit the Hero Course,” you trailed off, scratching the back of your neck much like Sero did earlier. “Bakugou was being a total jerk to me that I almost quit. Thank god you came around when you did.”
“Nah,” Sero slung an arm around your neck. “I’m just one of few people who can put up with him… I’m still alarmed though-”
“About what?” You hummed.
“Shinso like…” Sero trailed off once again. “I really don’t doubt that he’d try to kill me, especially in this time and age.” Zombies, no law, everyone fends for themselves. Of course Sero would assume a brain washing maniac was out to get him. “It’s like the apocalypse had changed him for the worse. But, it looks like the apoc had done us two some good!”
“I really can’t disagree with anything you have to say,” you snickered. “We spend more time together outside of the school kicking zombie ass rather than at the base. Which reminds me…” You hummed, pulling Sero forwards to dig through his backpack of supplies before finding his really scratched up pair of binoculars and brought them to your eyes. Your index finger spun the little dial clearing up the line of vision. “I’ve been wanting to do this for a while… Let’s go to the airport!”
“That’s an odd request,” Sero most definitely found the request odd but smiled anyways.
“After talking with Mei a little bit-”
“Isn’t Mei the crazy inventor girl?”
“Yes,” you whistled nonchalantly to get the focus off you for a second. “After talking with her… I want to decapitate zombies with an airplane..."
“That sounds *dramatic pause* Awesome!”
“I thought you’d tell me that I was a nutcase!” You squealed with excitement.
“This is the apocalypse… We’re all mad here,” Sero tagged on without any difficulty wearing his usual wide toothy smile that you’ve came to love as it was your substitute for happiness since the outbreak. You could see it everyday and your worries were washed away within an instant. One man was your sunshine.
“One thing…” You shied away awkwardly.
“We need your brother in order to pull this off don’t we?” Sero assumed correctly in which you nodded with your bottom lip tucked between your teeth. Sero sighed to that minor setback and progressed to pull out his walkie talkie in which he called back to the survivors of the school asking for Shinso to come out to the airport and anybody else who were willing to come along as an escort or just to watch for fun. This call attracted the likes of your friend group: Bakugou, Kirishima, and Kaminari as well as some others like Tokoyami, Ashido and Uraraka who wanted to quite simply watch the decapitation of zombies. Not to forget Mei who gave this idea to you in the first place. The others didn’t want to bother with the struggle of fighting zombies just to reach the airport at the risk of their lives for a few moments of entertainment.
Almost everyone stood atop an aircraft or two. Meanwhile you and Shinso stood atop an aircraft that had the exact part necessary for this show, a propellor. Everyone was rooting for a show! You leaned down atop the plane glancing down atop Sero and Bakugou who fought off some zombies as you awaited to give them the signal. “Shinso has attracted enough zombies, time to move the propellor!” You hollered. Bakugou and Sero stopped fighting off the zombies and directed their attention onto the plane propellor. You joined in with Shinso activating your brain washing quirk, overriding the zombies nearly blank mind and they stopped attacking the boys and quite simply stood in place with wheezing breaths.
“There we go!” Sero hooked one propellor in the sticky grasp of his tape and began stepping backwards until the line was tight. He yanked his arm back, the blades spin, but not very fast. That’s where Bakugou came in, his palms sparked up until he released an explosion just out of reach of the propellor that got it spinning so fast you couldn’t even see the blades anymore.
“Okay Shinso, we gotta be quick,” you hopped down from the plane, Sero caught you with a snicker within his arms. Shinso jumped down himself without anyone to catch him in which he wasn’t injured. With a mutual nod, you both directed the zombies to walk towards the airplane, one by one, the zombies were gutted piece by piece like a deli slicer with guts and blood of black and red flying about the scene. Everyone cheered happily as the scene was something worth coming out for, until it went silent out of nowhere. You shut off the quirk to get a better grasp on reality and figure out why everyone so happened to go silent.
Sero was walking towards the airplane.
“Sero!” You squeaked jutting out from your spot to pull him back. He ignored the yank to his arm, not even acknowledging that you touched his at all, progressing forward to his death. You ran forwards some more, the wind whipped your hair violently blinding you. You whimpered, finally realizing what’s going on. That bastard… He wasn’t joking when he said he’d make Sero Kill himself… You cursed, using your quirk to somehow override Shinso’s control on Sero.
Walk to the plane…
Stop what you’re doing!
Kill yourself…
You’re gonna die if you keep walking forward!
Sero’s movements began to stagger and behave like mechanical joints to a robot until he just froze. Shinso’s commands still made their way through to him, but your commands were more urgent. Sero couldn’t decide which order to fulfil, they cancelled each other out. He were nothing more than a mindless husk right now. You took advantage of this opening to try and reach out to Sero. Your fingers brushed against his arms, trying to wrap around it, till finally. You yanked Sero backwards, Bakugou jumped in and pulled you both back to safety. Unfortunately… Sero was still under Shinso’s influence. This was clear once Bakugou had let him go and he resumed to Shinso’s previous order of killing himself.
“What’s so bad about Sero, Shinso?” You growled, grabbing a handful of Shinso’s shirt within your hands. The purple haired male stared blankly at you, not sharing one word of a reply. Shinso was too smart for you, if he replies back, you’d have him under your control therefore you’d give the order to release Sero from his bind. Time was wearing short. “Seriously Shinso… What’s so bad about Sero? I get that you’re my brother but the guys I choose to like is none of your business. Please release Sero…” Yes, you’ve resorted to begging. Sero won’t stop trying to kill himself until Shinso gives the signal.
Shinso sighed, “At least you aren’t crushing on that short skirt chaser…”
“W-What?” Sero gasped before letting off an ear splintering shriek and staggered backwards as he were within a few feet of the plane propellor. Your heart skipped a beat realizing that Shinso had released Sero like you had wished, before you spun around and nailed him in the cheek with a roundhouse kick.
You snickered, standing over your overprotective brother. “That’s a move from Aizawa. How do you like a taste of that?”
“I hate you…” Shinso growled under his breath. You knew he didn’t mean it, still doesn’t get past the fact he tried to kill your best friend.
You stepped off from your brother and ran right to Sero’s aid. He were hunched over on the ground still recollecting himself from his near death experience. You leaned down, running a hand down his back for comfort. “The after effects should wear off soon,” you reassured.
“I have the worst headache…” Sero groaned. He clearly figured out that he were under the control of not only one but two brainwashing quirks. Heck, you were surprised he hasn’t passed out yet.
“Will this make you feel better?” You leaned forwards, kissing him gently on the top of his head.
Sero’s face flushed red, “It doesn’t take the headache away, but it sure felt awesome.”
