Mini-Me: Todoroki x Reader
Day 7 of x Reader Week. I literally trashed this one shot three times before this was the final product. Nothing sounded right! At first the plot was that Shoto and Midoriya went to an international hero convention and found you stuck within a piece of hero memorabilia. The second plot that didn’t make the cut was that Shoto was being clueless that a waiter at his favorite restaurant was flirting with him. The third plot was that it was a fantasy AU where Prince Shoto went missing and it turns out he fell off a mountain and that’s why it’s so snowy there and so you jump off it too in hopes of finding Shoto. (That plot was Inspired by the horrible world of Frozen in Kingdom Hearts 3. Sora, how many times does Elsa have to throw you off the mountain before you get the hint?)
It was late at night, everyone is supposed to be in bed, except you apparently. At times you cannot sleep, late night walks are the perfect remedy to induce drowsiness. That late night walk went extremely short lived as you were knocking on your dear boyfriends door. Everlasting silence was what you heard from the other side so when he didn’t answer the door, you invited yourself in. You’re just lucky that Shoto trusts his class enough to not see a point in locking his door. The two toned boy was deeply asleep all curled up in bed. There’s nothing more that he likes than sleep. Well, maybe you of course!
Tonight, you have a favor for him which means his sleepy nap nap time can wait. “Shoto-Baby! Look what I have,” you reached carefully within your backpack to pull out a small kitten of all things. The creature was happily wrapped up in a blanket like a kitty sushi roll. Despite everything, Shoto remained asleep, like a rock. And so You lied the kitten down beside the boy where it crawled out of the blanket and perched itself atop Shoto’s forehead. It’s tail acted like a feather duster as it curled and poked Shoto’s nose with precision.
The boy stirred from his sleep, yet not entirely awake as he unconsciously batted at the tail with a limp hand. The kitten was mesmerized with the fast moving hands and pounced! White daggered claws into Shoto with a cute amused meow! Shoto’s eyes shot open lightning fast as he grunted to the sunken claws and shot up! The cat being thrown into his lap with the action. “A cat?” Shoto slumped forwards examining the small creature in confusion. The kitten stared back at him, bouncing its tail around.
“We’re parents now. I adopted him,” you rubbed your hands together mischievously.
“But it hurt me…” Shoto stared at the five identical claw marks that seeped crimson in the palm of his hand. Of all things he thought that’d happen to him in life, he never would have thought a cat would have the upper hand against him.
You took his hand into your own. The wound was already clotted up. “Baby, it’s almost healed.”
“I don’t want a pet that can kill me in my sleep...”
“You’re such a drama queen. Want me to kiss you better?” You puckered your lips.
“Since when did you turn into a mom?” Your behavior is making him uncomfortable.
“Cause I want to be a cat mom.”
“If I say yes to being the dad will you quit treating me like a kid?” Shoto agreed to borderline disagree as he continued to stare at the cat. He swears the cat hasn’t blinked once.
“That’s all I wanted,” you held up the kitten to hide your face. “Thank you for taking me in daddy!” Your voice went up to a squeaky chirp and the cat was simply hanging there awaiting the moment it can touch the ground once again.
“Please… Don’t,” all of this was disturbing.
You lowered the cat with a smile then sat him in Shoto’s hands. “I saw the little guy wandering around outside. I would’ve left him alone or asked if Mr. Aizawa wants to take him in, but he reminds me of you. It’ll be like we have a kid of our own!”
Shoto, skeptical of your reasoning to keep him, lied the kitten atop it’s back and stroked it’s stomach with his thumbs. The fur was soft to the touch, reminded Shoto of his own pillow. This kitten was so mellow and tiny with black fur as dark as the night sky. Nothing about it reminded Shoto of himself, until he saw the kitten’s adorable face. It had two eyes of different colors: Blue on the left, grey on the right. “Oh…” Shoto hummed. The colors are the same as his and in the same place too. “Now I see it.” Out of nowhere, Shoto was mesmerized with the idea that this cat was destined to be with him.
“You can name him,” you offered your boyfriend.
“Shoto Jr…” Shoto grinned and poked the cat’s cotton candy pink nose.
“N-No…” You fought back a laugh and curled up into Shoto’s side. “I’m sleeping here tonight Baby…”
“Goodnight,” your boyfriend threw an arm around you to better snuggle you into his side. Shoto was staring at the cat for who knows how long. The more he stared at it, the closer the cat crawled up his chest to his face. Before long, the being had snuzzled itself into Shoto’s cheek. It’s purrs let off a satisfyingly soothing vibration that lulled Shoto into a deep slumber.
