While almost everyone views the League of Villains as a terrorist organization or another means to gain power in the eyes of a criminal, those who are already part of the League soon found out that the group was like… A Family. The biggest outcasts and criminals found comfort and belonging within the League. Twice suffers from PTSD and dissociative identity disorder where he finds friends and comfort within those around him. Toga feels the League is the only place she feels safe and sound. Kurogiri, although forced into the League, treats everyone as if they were his own. We could talk forever but that’d be getting a little off track wouldn’t it?
Well, one of the oldest members of the League was a young woman named (Y/n). Nobody knows her full name and everyone respects her wishes although they’ve wondered what exactly her name could be on occasion. In (Y/n)’s eyes, all they had to do was ask and she’d happily answer them. (Y/n) was the black sheep of the League. How could she be the black sheep you might ask? While everyone stems from mental disorders, psychotic behaviors or horrible pasts she’s rather ordinary. Much like Kurogiri is the father of the League, she’s the mother. (Y/n)’s nice, quiet, helpful and most importantly self sufficient which has marked her as Shigaraki’s right hand ‘woman’. (Y/n) is valuable as her past profession was a doctor. As a doctor, there’s times when you just can’t save a patient or you feel there's times when they’re better off dead as they agree tenfold. It was when she was convicted of assistant suicide that Shigaraki and Kurogiri swooped in and saved her offering the girl a brand new start on life. Clearly, she took their hands and hasn't thought of abandoning them since.
With (Y/n)’s loyalty to the League, she’s grown rather fond of the blue haired man who changed her life for the better. Not once has she found Shigaraki scary, gross or off putting. She’s always seen Shigaraki for who he really was. He’d always go without that hand on his face when it’s just him and her, always allowed her the choice to go on missions or not, always treated her as if she’s his most prized possession. Of course, many didn’t take Shigaraki’s treatment for love but rather she’s the only healer the League has. That’s how (Y/n) can see behind his scars and crotchety attitude to find that he’s a decent looking man who typically hides most of his emotions yet one thing stood clear as day that he’s determined to lead his subjects. Deep down, (Y/n) held such respect and admiration for Shigaraki that it manifested into what she called romance. Yeah, she’d love it if Shigaraki would take his eyes off his end goal for one measly second and pay attention to what’s in front of him, but she knows him too well. Even if he was hit upside the head with a frying pan, he’d have no clue that a girl held him in such high light. When it’s miserably clear that a forbidden love between a leader and his ‘pawn’ would never see the light, (Y/n) still held out hope.
Too bad (Y/n) never put her love for Shigaraki aside as it came to bite her in the arse later on.
The one time (Y/n) agreed to go on a mission, she came back injured. Or rather… Not injured but under the influence of another quirk.
Dabi, annoyed as ever, clutched (Y/n) closely to his side as she cowered from beneath his jacket. The girl has been embracing him for dear life ever since the accident in a shuddering madness. Nobody quite knew what was wrong with her, they just know she’s terrified beyond her wits at nearly everything she sees. (Y/n) would scream at things that aren’t even there, asking what happened to certain people when again nothing happened, even going as far as to ask if Shigaraki was alive every few minutes or so. They could only guess that the quirk (Y/n)’s suffering from was messing with her visual senses. If hiding (Y/n) beneath his jacket made her quit screaming, Dabi would deal with this over that anyday…
The group returned from their mission with their items and intel of interest. However, Shigaraki’s interest wasn’t on the mission results for a change but one of his cohorts instead. “I give you all one job and she comes back acting like… Whatever the fuck this is,” the pale man hissed at the sight of his cowering healer. The girl who’s normally calm, collected and the bravest of them all was acting like that of a small child. “What’s wrong with her?” Shigaraki practically demanded for a second time.
“Why don’t you tell us Princess?” Dabi threw the girl out from beneath his jacket to tumble and cower in a shaking mess before Shigaraki’s feet. “You’re the only one who can tell us!” The harsh crash of Dabi’s palm to the back of her head caused the girl to yelp. She whimpered pressing her own hands to the back of her head to soften the sting he left behind yet nothing helped.
When Shigaraki had enough of (Y/n)’s silence, he knelt down and trapped her jaw within his grasp and forced her head up to lock eyes with that of his blazing crimson. (Y/n) didn’t see the man she loved but a monster. Shigaraki’s eyes were blank, grey… Dead. The entirety of the left side to his face was rotting away with dangling flesh leaving his skull on full display while the other half remained intact. Shigaraki slowly traced the way her pupils shrunken unbelievably the longer she stared at him. This girl, the girl who’s never been afraid of him was genuinely terrified in his presence and he had no idea why. Shigaraki had about enough once tears began streaming down her face. Of all the people he’s seen cry over the years, something about (Y/n)’s tears made him uncomfortable.
Shigaraki waved a hand, “Kurogiri!”
“Yes Tomura…” The misty man of darkness appeared before them in a cloud of purples and black.
“Take me to one of our Nomu facilities… I don’t care which one, just take us there.”
“As you wish,” the man opened up a warp gate allowing Shigaraki to scoop up his suffering subject with careful hands. She immediately clutched onto his coat, burying her face within his chest to conceal the terror her eyes saw. No wonder why Dabi had it up there with her. (Y/n) was acting utterly ridiculous right now. Guess it can’t be helped though...
Once through to the other side of the warp gate, Shigaraki made sure to set (Y/n) and himself up in one of All for One’s private quarters before he was admitted into prison. Doctors would be there soon enough to check (Y/n) over and see if they can reverse the effects of the quirk she’s under. In the end, everything was a bust. The doctors basically told Shigaraki that (Y/n) had to bunker down and wait for the quirk to subside on its own. At least they gave her a nightmask to wear in the meantime, but still… The doctors were useless.
Come hours later, (Y/n) had calmed down enough to fall into a slumber. For once, the building was peacefully silent. In all honesty, through peaceful dreams (Y/n) had forgotten most of what happened that day and absentmindedly pulled the plush mask that concealed her eyes from her head. At first everything was fine, from the tiled flooring to the mounted pictures on the wall. That was until she saw Tomura. He was aggravated at a computer that lied atop a table to his side. For said angle, half of his face remained a zombified nightmare much like before and she began to hyperventilate. Air kept coming in, yet her lungs were on fire as if nothing could enter or escape.
(Y/n) was making quite a ruckus the longer her eyes remained transfixed on the man in black. Shigaraki easily pieced together that the quirk hadn’t worn off yet. “They gave you a mask for a reason,” the man hissed as he stomped over to the bed from where he once sat. He was careful not to use all five of his fingers before he took the girl’s sleeping mask and snapped the elastic back over her eyes. (Y/n) whimpered out of pain but was calming down to say the least as all her vision gave forth was blissful black nothingness. “You better start talking,” Shigaraki glared at (Y/n) despite her inability to see. “What’s wrong with you?”
“I don’t know…” (Y/n) spoke quietly. “Just… I see everything as a nightmare… An endless one.”
Shigaraki snickered, “the League is full of ugly mugs yet now you’re terrified.” Alright, Shigaraki had a valid argument. Dabi is nightmare fuel. Although that is true, (Y/n) found him oddly handsome yet she couldn’t quite pinpoint the exact reason why. Toga was a psychotic psycho inside and out yet (Y/n) could see how she’d be physically attractive towards men her age. Stain, although never a part of the League, was a walking skeleton. It was grotesquely clear that Muscular was missing an eye by the way you could see straight into his eye socket. Twice’s head was stapled together. Compress was terrifying without his mask as well.
Yet, why is (Y/n) only now finding everyone to be terrifying.
“Ugly mugs or not…” (Y/n) began to sigh. “Don’t joke around like that.”
“Who said I was joking?” Shigaraki sneered.
“What I may find cute could be scary to someone else,” like a butterfly is beautiful to most but those who are afraid of bugs find that a butterfly is their worst nightmare. “The League of Villains and everyone part of it is my home. Their quirks and differences make them human like everyone else. I don’t like seeing you… As if you’re dead. That’s why I’m having such a hard time with everything.” Shigaraki might not be the best apple of the bunch, but he’s still the man she’s come to love. Flaws and all.
“What’s so scary then?” Shigaraki groaned. “I’m already butt ugly,” the man reached up for the tear of flesh on his upper lip. “I have my father to thank for that.” Of all things to heal, this couldn’t.
“You’re not scary to me,” (Y/n) turned her head to where she could trace Shigaraki’s scratchy voice. “You… Dead… Now that’s a reality I don’t want to live in.”
“What shit are you speaking?” Shigaraki hissed.
(Y/n) leaned into Shigaraki’s side, it stunned the man upon contact. “I know you care about everyone to some extent and I have no idea if you like me more than the others. One thing I know for sure is that I’ve cared about you for a while Tomura…” Shigaraki sat in silence allowing everything to sit in yet she continued to talk. “I’m thankful for the second life you gave me Tomura… I never think poorly of you, do whatever you say, try to make everything go your way. You dying would be my worst nightmare…” The girl sighed and embraced the man’s arm while nuzzling her cheek into his shoulder. “Knowing you… You’ll probably kill me after this but… I only see you differently Tomura. That quirk makes it so I see my deepest desire and all the memories connected as my worst nightmare.”
Although Tomura has long pieced together that his closest partner was romantically confessing to him, he had no idea what that deepest desire so happened to be. “And that is?” He tagged on.
“I want you to love me Tomura.” (Y/n) smiled softly. “Of course we can’t love each other if you’re dead. That’s why I see you as a zombie.” When people die, some people die of sadness upon hearing of their absence. (Y/n) would live on… Until her sadness brings her heart to a stop.
“I wouldn’t have brought you here if I didn’t care,” Shigaraki announced out of the blue which was stunning music to the girl’s ears. “I have no idea what love is but it would explain why my heart feels like it’s about to have a heart attack around you. Thought it was a medical problem… Guess not,” with Shigaraki owning up to his own buried feelings, he used his free hand to tug at the mask stole his partner’s sight.
“T-Tomura please don’t!” She snatched Shigaraki’s hand. The man nearly freaked as she could’ve accidentally activated his quirk and died on the spot.
“I’m not dying anytime soon,” he hissed. “Am I dead? No… Am I dying? No… Man up. You can look at me in the face can’t you?” The moment of truth. Does (Y/n) still fear him above all else?
(Y/n) nodded her head slowly, “you may look dead… But you aren’t. That’s good enough for me.”
“Good,” Shigaraki progressed to take (Y/n)’s masked off. Her eyes remained squeezed shut upon removal and she had to force herself to open them up again. The left side of Shigaraki’s face was still grotesque but something about it finally put her at ease. This is just a trick on the eye right? His face isn’t actually ripped apart, blood, muscle and bone dangling all over the place. (Y/n) reached her hand out. In the back of her mind, she was afraid to feel the skin and bone but once her fingertips brushed across the flesh of his cheek, (Y/n) knew she was going to be alright.
